The small robotic vacuum cleaner from Xiaomi has conquered the domestic living room in no time, not least thanks to its high functionality and the very good price/performance ratio.
Whether Xiaomi or the subsidiary Roidmi succeed again this time the great success and whether the F8E against Dyson and co. you can learn in the following test.
The Xiaomi Roidmi F8E in the review is being advertised as the first smart app-controlled vacuum cleaner, so I downloaded it from the Google Play Store.
If the pairing via Bluetooth does not work, as it was the case with me, then you have to additionally activate the location services, here Android has trimmed in one of the last versions of the Bluetooth capabilities. The app itself is in my eyes more of a gimmick and offers no real value.
As you can see, you get a lot of information here, especially regarding the state of the battery, the last two points are purely illustrative and go somewhat in the direction of gamification.
The app is also still in the Apple App Store, the F8E can also be integrated into the Mimi Smart Home App, especially if you already own some smart home devices from Xiaomi makes the overall ecosystem probably more sense.
On the other hand, changing the power levels via app while vacuuming is really a bit awkward, especially as there are separate buttons directly on the handset of the device.

Xiaomi Roidmi F8E: Design and appearance
The surface of the Roidmi is made of high-quality plastic, large or irregular gaps are not present in my model. The feel is very good.
The mounting of the individual vacuum cleaner parts works flawlessly and reliably, a slight pressure on the corresponding button releases the connection. Also, the attachment of another part such as.
A nozzle attachment is simple, just connect to the existing element and hardly exert pressure, then it holds firmly and does not wobble.
The design of Xiaomi Roidmi F8E in our analisis is simple and yet very appealing, the F8E is almost completely white and accentuated only in silver, which of course, as always, is a matter of personal taste, it definitely appeals to me.
However, one should not forget that this is a household appliance, according to the white plastic over the years has already gotten some small quirks.
Of course, you can easily get rid of them with a little detergent and a sponge, but who does that realistically after each sucking?
Xiaomi Roidmi F8E: Connections and Controls
There is a notch hidden in the handle with a rubber cap, into which you can put the charger. Since there is a thin groove here, plugging in is only possible in one position – this also holds the plug in place, making it almost impossible to lose the cable when charging.
There are also 2 buttons, with the power button you start the Xiaomi Roidmi F8E, another short pressure changes into a stronger suction mode. To return to the first mode, simply press it again briefly.
A long press will switch off the device. The second button also switches between 2 suction modes, but the device cannot be switched off.
As the last point, 5 LEDs are also embedded in the housing, 4 of them glow white and signal the current state of charge of the battery in 25% steps.
The fifth LED glows blue when connected to the smartphone and is currently being accessed via the app. In addition, this lights up when the dirt container should be emptied.
Weight: The nipple alone incl. The 0.4-liter dirt container and filter brings about 2.4 kg on the scales.
With full expansion consisting of the base unit, extension tube and floor brush you can reach a more 2.5 kg weight, which is weight-related absolutely in the frame, a fatigue after sucking my apartment, I did not feel.
However, the Xiaomi Roidmi F8E in the test could be a bit longer, or you could have a variable extension attached, because in people over 1.80 m, it is a bit uncomfortable with time.
This is due to the maximum size of just under 1.10 meters, which is why I would advise people of a certain size to test before, with the old vacuum cleaner and this height, whether it is suitable for yourself.
One of the most commonly used attachments is the floor brush. While the change between carpet and hard floor with my old vacuum cleaner was done by flipping a toggle switch, in which additional elements were added, this was solved elsewhere in the Xiaomi Roidmi F8E: There are simply 2 different brushes. To change them, you have to remove a small piece of plastic on the underside and then carefully remove the built-in brush.
The whole procedure is repeated in reverse order when using the other brush, in the app or on the teat itself you have to change absolutely nothing. The change is really quick, as it is about the longevity of the mechanism I think will show in the future, but so far I am confident that there will be no wear.
Another useful gimmick is the foot-mounted LED, which is paired with an ambient light sensor. As soon as you suck on dark places this goes on.
This can be quite helpful, especially if you suck under the couch or in darker corners, but for me, that would definitely not be a must-have feature.
Xiaomi Roidmi F8E: Operation and Handling
Let’s get to the most important point: How does the Xiaomi Roidmi F8E work in everyday life?
I have been using the model for a few weeks now and have put it to the acid test, many points have been positively highlighted over the years, a few negative ones as well, a complete list and a concluding conclusion can be found at the end of the testimonial.
I have set up several scenarios to investigate overall suction performance and efficiency. As a rule, there is almost nothing that the Xiaomi Roidmi F8E does not get absorbed. Important is the selected level.
While at the lowest level for heavier things, the problem is that you only push them around instead of sucking them in, this is no problem in turbo mode. Since the runtime is reduced to just under 10 minutes at the highest level, it is not possible to blow through the entire apartment, but over time you get a pretty good feeling of playing with the different modes and optimizing the procedure.
On the other hand, during the first attempts, the battery went flat before the apartment was completely vacuumed so that it had to wait for 2 ½ hours until the battery was fully charged again.
The removal of the dust container is relatively simple: Press the button and carefully remove the container from the device. In addition, the HEPA filter and the lid of the container must be removed, then the collected dirt can be knocked out easily – here, the enclosed brush proves to be extremely helpful.
Depending on the distance you use the Roidmi F8E in the analisis, you sooner or later come to the conclusion that the container could have been slightly larger in size so that you do not have to stop while vacuuming in the meantime once and empty it to continue.
Since the whole process is done quite quickly, this is not really tragic, moreover, a larger container would probably have affected weight and shape, I think there was just a compromise.
A phenomenon that unfortunately has come over me again and again: If you suck only with the handset itself or the additional small crevice nozzle, then it may be that by the engine of the surrounding dirt whirled up and carried around, which is really annoying and is impractical, but this really only occurs with the handpiece, when using the nipple incl. Extension and floor nozzle this is not the case.
Volume: Another important point for me is the topic of noise development. Due to the design of the F8E produced unfortunately a very high, loud tone, the initial annoying a bit, meanwhile, I got used to it, however.
However, at no time is it overly loud, although at the highest level it is difficult to talk in the same room, that was the case with my old model.
Xiaomi Roidmi F8E: Conclusions and Reviews
This is not possible in my view of Xiaomi Roidmi F8E in our review, alone due to the technology and the compact design and the low weight must be compromised.
For a vacuum cleaner with battery operation, the model from the House Xiaomi, however, is already quite a front. The battery life is more than adequate depending on the mode used, the design and the processing convince me completely. The price could be lower, but if you look at what Dyson and co. ask for similar models, this is already very interesting in relation.
A not to be the despised advantage is the freedom of movement, which is granted by the missing cable: I do not want to miss this after a short time. In addition, it is much more pleasant to push the vacuum cleaner slightly ahead of me instead of pulling it on the hose behind me.
Especially if you use the F8E once above the head, for example, to suck cobwebs from the ceiling, then makes a low weight positively noticeable. What has really disappointed me a little bit is the widely advertised app support, this is in my opinion largely meaningless and more marketing.
Whether it brings in connection with other smart home devices and the Mi App brings real added value, unfortunately, I can not judge because the only “smart” device in my household so far is the Xiaomi desk lamp.
Xiaomi Roidmi F8E: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
As for the price? This is also an important factor, and now you can buy a Xiaomi Roidmi F8E handheld vacuum cleaner at an interesting price for only $ 350.
In general, this is a good price for a device with good specifications and functionality for cleaning your home or office.
