On the international market for mobile devices, a new smartphone was introduced called Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T. It is a replica in appearance and in a performance like its older brother Redmi Note 8.
You can say so what are the differences between the two models? Redmi Note 8T device received only one change compared to Redmi Note 8? This is the presence of an NFC contactless payment module, while other characteristics remained unchanged.
Today I wanted to do a full review of the Redmi Note 8T model and find out its strengths and weaknesses.
At the moment, you can buy Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T at an interesting price for only $219.00 on the official website of the company.
What is so special about the technical characteristics? Redmi Note 8T received a standard 6.3-inch IPS screen, a Snapdragon 665 processor, 4 and 64 GB memory versions, four main camera lenses with a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 4000 mAh battery with fast charging. Now let’s start our full review.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T: Unboxing
The appearance of the box has changed a bit when comparing Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T. As you can see from the picture below, the model with the NFC chip received a different picture on the front part and now there are three colors of smartphones and the model name at the bottom.
Inside the box, I found an envelope with a needle for the SIM slot, the main documentation and a silicone black transparent case.
A little lower was the smartphone itself in a protective film and where on the front panel you can see the main features of the device. And of course, there is a Type-C charging cable and an 18 W power adapter.
I have repeated many times that Xiaomi smartphones have the same specification and regardless of the price, whether for $200 or for $500.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T: Design
I can attribute the new Redmi Note 8T smartphone to the middle class of devices, so we should not expect flagship features in appearance.
This is a familiar design for all, both on the front and on the back. Also, the device is made of protective glass Gorilla Glass 5, and the frame is made of aluminum.
On the front side, there is a large screen with a size of 6.3 inches, there is also a waterdrop notch and a speaker on the top of the device. I would like to note that the frames around the screen, especially at the bottom, are quite large, I would like to get a little smaller.
On the rear panel, there is the main camera with four sensors and a dual-LED flash in the upper left corner. In the center, there is a fingerprint scanner that works accurately and works quickly. As I mentioned, you should not expect a fingerprint scanner under the screen on the front panel, since the price is about $200.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T comes in three different colors – white, gray and blue. This is not a pure color, but it has an iridescent shade and in sunny weather, the colors look beautiful.
Of the minuses, I would like to note that the main camera module sticks out a little, so it will swing on a flat surface. To solve the problem is simple – you need to wear a silicone case, which comes already included.
On the side face on the right, there is a power button and a volume rocker. On the left side of the device is a slot for two nano-SIM cards and a memory card. This is not a hybrid slot and you can use two SIM cards and a microSD memory card at the same time.
The lower part received the main speaker, Type-C port, microphone and 3.5 mm audio jack. I was glad to see the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack and I think many users will also appreciate this.
The upper part received an infrared sensor and a noise-canceling microphone.
The appearance of the Redmi Note 8T and Redmi Note 8 devices remained almost identical if you do not take into account the color solutions. I have no questions about the build quality and materials, during testing I was pleased with how the smartphone was made.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T: Screen
As I mentioned, the Redmi Note 8T device received a 6.3-inch IPS screen with Full HD + resolution or 1080 x 2340 pixels.
This is a typical screen from Xiaomi smartphones, it is well-made and has nice colors with good contrast and brightness.
It will be possible to use a smartphone in sunny weather, the screen brightness will be enough. The low brightness limit is also not bad, and if you are a fan of reading at night, this will not be a problem for you.
The aspect ratio is 19.5: 9 and the pixel density will be approximately 409 PPI.
As I already noted, the frames around the screen are quite large, so the screen-to-body ratio is about 80.2%.
In the screen settings menu, you can set colors, for example, warm or cold. There is also a reading mode and night mode.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T: Performance and Software
The device received a Snapdragon 665 processor with 11-nanometer technology. As practice has shown, it copes with his tasks perfectly, given the middle class of the smartphone.
The chipset is built on eight cores with a maximum frequency of 2.0 GHz, it also works in conjunction with the Adreno 610 GPU.
Looking ahead and as the practice has shown, modern and heavy games for Redmi Note 8T will not be a problem. I tested the device with games like PUBG Mobile and others, I did not find any delays. In addition to this overheating, even after prolonged use, I did not find it.
The Redmi Note 8T model received several modifications of memory – these are 3 and 4 GB of memory and 32, 64 and 128 GB of internal memory. As I said, a microSD card slot is present.
Below I will leave the benchmark results of the tested smartphone.
The smartphone runs on the Android 9.0 operating system with the new MIUI 10 user interface. During testing, I did not find any problems with the software, the applications were opened quickly and without delay.
In general, I have already talked a lot about the MIUI interface, which has both its advantages and disadvantages. Some users like it, and some not really, but it’s a matter of taste.
The updated user interface received big updates, for example, in the menu settings, the icons became more saturated and vibrant, a black theme appeared and much more.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T: Sound and Connections
The main speaker is located on the bottom of the smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T, it sounds loud and has a fairly surround sound for its class. Of course, the sound is not perfect, but even at the maximum volume, I did not listen to the cutting and creaking sound.
In addition, I was glad to see the presence of a 3.5 mm audio jack, so I can enjoy listening to music through my favorite headphones. The sound quality through the headphones does not stand out, it is typical as on other models.
The main feature of the Redmi Note 8T is the presence of the NFC chipset, and now you can pay for your purchases contactless, which could not be done on the Redmi Note 8 model.
Also in the device, there is dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and wireless Bluetooth 4.2. In addition, the location is determined quickly and accurately in a few seconds thanks to the presence of GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T: Camera
Four sensors of the main camera are installed onboard the Redmi Note 8T smartphone – this is a 48-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 aperture and the presence of PDAF. The second sensor is an 8-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture for ultra-wide shots. The third and fourth are 8-megapixel sensors with f/2.4 aperture – for macro and bokeh shots.
Front camera with a 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
The camera interface is standard for Xiaomi devices and I havenât found anything new.
The quality of the pictures in daylight is decent, but at night, it slightly deteriorates and grit appears. This is not surprising since it is a mid-range smartphone. Below I will leave an album with sample photos of Redmi Note 8T.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T: Battery
Inside the device case of the new Redmi Note 8T model, a 4000 mAh capacitive battery is installed. As practice has shown, the operating time of the on-screen was about 8 hours, that is, it is about 1 day and 2 and a half hours.
Indeed, the battery life indicator is good and this is due to the well-developed software and the small energy consumption of the Snapdragon 665 processor. In general, 2-3 days with average use can be safely achieved from a Redmi Note 8T smartphone.
The charging time from 0 to 100% was approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes through the Type-C port and an 18W power adapter.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T: Conclusions and Reviews
The updated model of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T smartphone is almost no different from Redmi Note 8, except for the presence of the NFC module. After testing the device, I was left with positive emotions.
Considering its budget price, the Redmi Note 8T model is worth its attention, it received an attractive appearance with a strong and solid design.
In addition, the model has good screen quality, a high performance due to the Snapdragon 665 processor, high battery life and picture quality at a decent level.
If you are looking for an inexpensive smartphone, then the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T model can be a good companion for you with good technical characteristics and a nice price.
