The manufacturer of wireless earbuds Haylou, in cooperation with Xiaomi, produced a very interesting model called Haylou MoriPods.
In this article, you can find out how well the earbuds play in real life, what to expect from TWS semi in-ear earbuds and whether the new model is worth your attention or not.
Therefore, I propose to start a full review, but first of all, let’s share with you about the cost and its main features. First off, the price tag for the new Haylou MoriPods was roughly $35.
Yes, maybe these are not the cheapest earbuds from Haylou. Therefore, I suggest looking at the main options that have been included in the MoriPods model. First of all, I can note the presence of the new Qualcomm QCC3040 chipset with support for the AptX Adaptive codec, AAC and SBC.
In addition, the device is paired with a smartphone under the latest generation Bluetooth 5.2 version. You can also highlight a rather powerful 12 mm dynamic driver and good battery life on a single charge.
But is everything so good with the new Haylou MoriPods in real life? Let’s find out not only the main features, but also try to find the flaws.

Unboxing and packaging
A new model of earbuds came to me for review pretty quickly within one week from China. The packaging itself is made in a traditional style, but the unpacking process always pleases me. This is a small square package, where on the front, there is a drawing of a charging box with earbuds, the name of the model and company.
On the back of the packaging, you will find a list of the main features, both in Chinese and English. But the side edges of the package have icons of the main features of the new model of Haylou MoriPods earbuds.
Well, inside the box I found the following components – these are, directly, the TWS earbuds themselves with a charging box. Also in the box was a Type-C charging cable and various documentation for use. Of course, you will not find a set of additional ear tips in the boxes, since the earbuds are made in the shape of semi in-ear earbuds. Therefore, I propose to move on to the next section and find out the main design features.
Design, build quality and materials
First of all, I want to pay a little of your attention to the colors of the Haylou MoriPods earbuds. The manufacturer offers four different colors to choose from. On my test, the earbuds are made in dark blue. But there are also colors like white, black and pink.
I was very pleased to see that Haylou offers a choice of different colors. Therefore, each user will be able to choose the color that they like the most.
As I mentioned earlier, Haylou MoriPods are made in the form of semi in-ear earbuds. Thus, silicone ear tips are not provided here. But the fit of the new model of TWS earbuds did not cause me much discomfort.
I could wear earbuds for hours while listening to my favorite music or enjoying watching a movie or TV series. But I cannot name the MoriPods as a sports model. Although the manufacturer offers pretty rudimentary sweat and splash protection under the IPX4 standard.
According to the materials used, not everything is bad here either, as it seems at first glance. For example, the earbud housing is made of a combination of two plastics – glossy and matte plastic. It should be noted, however, that the matte plastic was positioned in the right place.
That is, when you remove the earbuds from the charging box, you will be holding onto the matte plastic. This means that removing the earbuds even with one hand will not be a problem.
In addition, touch control is located on matte plastic, but I will talk about its features and functions a little later. But on the top of the leg there is an LED indicator that does not blink while listening to music.
Meanwhile, there is a two-pin charging connection and a microphone hole at the bottom of the leg. And yes, it’s worth saying that each earbud has two microphones. Where one is the main, and the second is additional for noise reduction. Again, you can learn about the quality of the microphones a little later.
If we talk about the charging box, then it is completely made of matte plastic, which cannot but please me. Therefore, I had no problems with wear resistance. Although I cannot call the workmanship ideal, since the lid has a slight backlash.
The earbuds themselves sit in the charging box due to the magnetic connection. A Type-C charging port was installed at the bottom of the box. There is also an LED indicator, but finding out the exact capacity of the remaining battery charge will be problematic. In addition, the charging case does not support wireless charging. Although this is not surprising, since the earbuds belong to the budget class of devices.
Connection, latency and touch control
On board the new Haylou MoriPods earbuds, the latest generation of Bluetooth 5.2 is used. Also inside the case is a good chipset from Qualcomm called QCC3040. It received support for aptX Adaptive, AAC and SBC audio codecs.
Therefore, as you might guess, the signal quality was within the normal range. That is, I could easily listen to music throughout my apartment at a distance of up to 10 meters from the signal source. At the same time, I did not find any failures or twitching at all.
As for the latency level, I really liked it, as the earbuds proved to be first-class in games. Yes, these are not gaming earbuds and cannot be compared to wired ones, but I felt comfortable playing PUBG Mobile. In addition, there was practically no latency in YouTube, and this only made me happy.
Okay, now let’s check out what touch is capable of and check out its basic functions.
- With one touch, it causes the function of play, pause, pause or put a phone call.
- With a double tap, you can switch tracks forward or backward, depending on the earbud channel.
- A triple tap brings up the voice assistant function on your smartphone.
Perhaps, there is a lack of a volume control function and a proprietary application with changing the control settings of Haylou MoriPods earbuds. In addition, the earbud case does not have an automatic pause sensor, but for me the latter feature is not particularly critical. Also, I did not find any accidental clicks during my testing of a new model of earbuds from the Haylou brand.
Sound and microphone quality
Each Haylou MoriPods has a 12mm dynamic driver. The first thing you pay attention to while listening to music is a good margin of the maximum volume level.
The earbuds really play very loudly and after 85% it is even possible to lose hearing. So be careful with the maximum volume setting.
As for the sound itself, the low frequencies are not particularly prominent. That is, there is practically no bass. Therefore, it is best to use the EQ settings and add some bass. But do not forget that these are semi in-ear earbuds and this type of headphones does not have a particularly strong side in low frequencies.
But the middle or high frequencies play not bad. The detailing of musical instruments is at a good level. At the same time, even at maximum volume, high frequencies did not emit annoying and creaking sounds.
Overall, I liked the sound of the new Haylou MoriPods. And in general, I have not yet met a single model from the Haylou brand that would play very poorly. Therefore, everything is fine with the sound quality here.
Now, what about the performance of the microphones on the MoriPods? First of all, I should note that in a quiet place the microphones work very well. But in noisy places, microphones slightly muffle the surrounding sounds, but you can still hear them. Although my interlocutors heard quite clearly both my voice and the noise of the surrounding world.
Battery and run time
Each earbud received a 35 mAh battery and a 310 mAh charging box. The manufacturer promises a total battery life of around 24 hours. But let’s check if this is so?
During my testing, Haylou MoriPods were able to last about 6 hours at 70% volume levels. This is a solid figure considering its small battery capacity.
But on the negative side, I can attribute the lack of a fast charging function, both in the earbuds and in the charging box. The case was fully charged for 2 hours, and the earbuds were charged in 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
If you are considering semi in-ear earbuds at an affordable price, then the Haylou MoriPods might be a good choice.
For example, on the positive side, I can single out the presence of the latest generation of Bluetooth 5.2 wireless communication, as well as support for aptX Adaptive. In addition, I liked the build quality of the earbuds themselves.
Fitting comfort is a very important parameter when choosing earbuds. I did not find any strong problems with the MoriPods model, but I also cannot call it a sports one. Most likely these are everyday earbuds that are suitable for regular listening to music or playing games.
In addition, I can note good battery life and naturally good sounding, both for its value.
Now let’s find out the main disadvantages of the MoriPods model. First of all, this is the lack of a proximity sensor for automatic pause, ANC function and transparency mode. In addition, the earbuds do not provide a proprietary application, as, for example, the QCY brand has. I can also note the lack of fast charging.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
At the time of writing the review, the price tag for Haylou MoriPods wireless earbuds was only $35.90 with a 32% discount.
Definitely, I can easily recommend Haylou’s new TWS earbuds for purchase. Even minor flaws could not make the model very terrible, but the technical component stands out very much.
