Today I’m reviewing a wireless Bluetooth headset from Haylou, which is also called Xiaomi Haylou L1.
Quite often, I test devices from Haylou, ranging from wireless earbuds to smart fitness watches. You can read all my reviews and tests about Haylou devices from the link here.
The price tag for any device from the Haylou brand is very intriguing and the Xiaomi Haylou L1 wireless headset is no exception. You can currently purchase the Haylou L1 for about $30.
The main features of the new headset can be attributed – it is almost a completely metal body, the presence of two microphones, where one is with noise reduction. In addition, there is protection against water under the IPX4 standard, 6.5 hours of battery life at one charge level, and much more.
But let’s find out for what purpose this device is needed and whether it is worth buying if you already have in-ear wireless headphones.
Xiaomi Haylou L1: Specifications
|Xiaomi Haylou L1:||Specs|
|Bluetooth protocol:||AAC and SBC|
|Charging Time:||90 min|
The device comes in a typical box style and on the front, you can see a picture of Haylou L1, also the name of the model and company.
Inside the box, the device itself is located in protective foam, and in a separate box, there is a charging Micro USB cable, special ear tip with additional fastening in the ear and user manual.
The package bundle is pretty typical for a conversational wireless headset.
But to be honest, I would like to get a Type-C connection for charging, instead of Micro USB.
As I mentioned, almost the entire body of Xiaomi Haylou L1 is made of black aluminum, but glossy plastic is also present.
The device comes in only one color and it is black, and as for me, it is more practical than white.
In general, the appearance of the Bluetooth headset looks stylish and fashionable. Also, I did not find any strong complaints about the quality of the assembly and the materials used.
As for the weight, the Xiaomi Haylou L1 weighs about 8.5 grams with ear tips and the dimensions were 62 x 22 x 10 mm.
Responsible for the management of mechanical buttons, which are located on the base of the case. Here there is one button that performs power-up functions, and nearby there is a volume rocker for switching tracks or controlling volume.
Two microphones were installed on the external part of the device, where one performs the function of noise reduction.
The bottom end of the Haylou L1 received an ancient MicroUSB port for charging. The sound guide has the correct shape for the anatomy of the ear canal and on its base, there is a mesh from extraneous debris.
I also wanted to note that the Haylou wireless headset has protection against sweat and splashes of the IPX4 standard. Of course, you can not wet the device underwater.
Speaking of convenience, the Xiaomi Haylou L1 sits perfectly in my ear and, thanks to its lightweight, I could wear a headset almost all day.
Connection and Sound quality
Like any TWS wireless earbuds, the wireless headset has a similar connection method. The device uses Bluetooth with version 5.0 and connecting with a mobile device is very simple.
First, you need to turn on the Haylou L1 headset, then go to the Bluetooth menu on your smartphone and connect to a wireless headset.
I used various smartphones and the device connected with various codecs. For example, with cheaper smartphones, the SBC codec was used, and with the flagship – AAC.
Naturally, the sound quality through AAC is much better, but I can’t say that the sound was much worse through the SBC codec connection.
Let us tell you my impression of the quality of the microphone, as this is its main function. Thanks to the physical noise reduction of the microphones and also the DSP and CVC software algorithm, extraneous noise is effectively eliminated.
I tested the Xiaomi Haylou L1 in fairly noisy places near the freeway and my interlocutor heard me distinctly.
Indeed, the microphone quality is a cut above that of wireless TWS headphones. Therefore, if you plan to talk often, not only while driving but also for business calls, then Haylou L1 will be a perfect choice.
Inside the Xiaomi Haylou L1 case, 80 mAh battery capacity is installed. At full charge at 80% volume level, the device will work for about 6.5 hours.
The result is not bad enough, it is also worth considering that a full charge from 0 to 100% via the Micro USB port will take only 1.5 hours.
Conclusion and Reviews
The new modern Xiaomi Haylou L1 Bluetooth headset showed itself on the positive side, but it could not do without flaws.
On the downside, I can take a few points, the first is the price, it is an order of magnitude higher than conventional wireless headsets, as well as a Micro USB connection.
Otherwise, the microphone quality is at a high level and even noise reduction works adequately. In addition, I liked the look with the materials used and the assembly.
Taking into account all the factors, finding a better Bluetooth headset than Haylou L1 does not work, so I recommend it for a 100% purchase.
Low price and Where to buy cheaper?
As I mentioned, the price tag for Xiaomi Haylou L1 is quite high than that of its competitors. You can now purchase the device for $30.89.
Despite its high cost, the device is definitely worth its attention.
