As you know I am a lover of smartwatches since I met the Pebble. Well, this time I have been talking about a firm competitor that may end up overshadowing it.
It is the UMIDIGI Uwatch smartwatch that has been making a big impact on the European market in our review.
In this new article, you will have all the information about the device in question with numerous photos, video of the operation and personal experiences.
The presentation with which the product comes is exquisite. That is, it is very similar to the one we can find in the Pebble watch. In the following image, you can see the packaging aspect. So, let’s see the main specs of UMIDIGI Uwatch.
UMIDIGI Uwatch: Specifications
Of all the watches that I have been able to try so far, I have to tell you that this is the one that, at the moment, has given me the best benefits for the cost that I have at home. Here I comment the most relevant:
|Display:||1.33 inches OLED with 240 x 240 pixels|
|Compatible OS:||Android, IOS|
|Connections:||Magnetic charging USB|
As you have seen the Amazfit has some technical features that take away the hiccups. In the next point, I will tell you what my impressions have been since I have been using them for a few days and I will talk to you in more detail about some of them.
UMIDIGI Uwatch: Desing and Appearance
Just take it out of the box I have to say that what has impacted me the most is the metal material with which the watch face is built.
Not only is it beautiful but it seems to be very resistant to the friction and bumps that can occur when wearing the watch all day.
I also have to say that the strap is made of a very good quality silicone and with a spectacular design.
It has a very soft touch but at the same time very resistant. Another very good thing is that it has many holes with which the adjustment to the wrist is perfect.
Once placed on the wrist and paired with our mobile device, the next step is to start fiddling a bit with it.
UMIDIGI Uwatch: Display
The first thing we see is that the screen is always on, that is, it is not like others that have an off-watch that does not activate until you move your wrist. This possibly makes the battery look a bit compromised but I love this idea.
The brightness is very good, yes, it depends on the cover we carry active.
With sports that have many colors look very good but nevertheless when we try some other analog looks worse. This does not worry me since they will improve over time.
The touchscreen responds with great accuracy. Maybe it helps that the crystal of the watch is of very good quality, that if they do not specify if it is gorilla glass or another type of special material.
UMIDIGI Uwatch: Features
The gestures we can do with our finger are from top to bottom and from left to right to show the different menu options.
For example, if we are in the heart rate meter we can also press on the watch screen to see the statistics of past measurements.
The heart rate sensor is very good. The measurements that I have been able to make during the time that I have the watch, and in different physical activity conditions, all have been very accurate.
There are sports modes, so for athletes or active people is a good way to monitor their results.
The current charger of the watch is perhaps what I like the least. As you have seen is an accessory made of a plastic, a priori, not very resistant and that you have to attach to the watch to then connect the charging micro USB cable.
I would have liked it to be magnetized like the Pebble Time Steel since it is much more comfortable due to my experience.
UMIDIGI Uwatch: Application
The application for phones is very simple but I get the feeling that they are improving little by little.
At least the iOS that is what I have been able to prove is very visual. Until very recently it was in Chinese but now it is translated into English (that if with some small error of words that are still in Chinese, although I understand that this will be changing little by little).
I imagine that this will be the first step to see the fully translated clock firmware.
From the application we can change the data of our profile (weight, height, image, etc.), the covers of the watch, the position of the menus, silence the notifications selectively and many other things that I encourage you to prove to yourselves once you have it at home.
One interesting thing is that this application is able to dump the watch data to the MiFit application of the Xiaomi Mi Band so we can use both devices interchangeably without worrying about losing our daily physical activity count.
UMIDIGI Uwatch: Battery
Regarding the battery life is very close to what the Pebble offers. According to UMIDIGI, it lasts 25 days in watch only mode, 12 days with a normal use of notifications.
I still want to do more load cycles to see how it evolves. Charging takes place through the magnetic port that comes in the packaging. This is a common type of charging and it is really convenient.
UMIDIGI Uwatch: Conclusions and Reviews
After a few days of use, I have to say that the watch is charming me. I think that once they update it to the English language so that we can understand all the configuration menus it is possible that you can even move the Pebble as the main watch.
The issue of notifications and synchronization with my iOS phone is perfect. What’s more, the text on the notification screen looks very, very good.
Having everything necessary to measure our physical activity (heart rate sensor and accelerometers) integrated into a device is another plus that I’m really enjoying.
Awaiting what the Pebble Time Steel 2 can offer us, I think it is a device that will decrease my joint use of watch and wristband.
UMIDIGI Uwatch: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
The price is the most pleasant for this watch. At the moment, you can buy a UMIDIGI Uwatch watch for only $ 24.99 with 41% OFF and a steel or silicone strap.
This is a good offer for a budget selection of watches with good features and beautiful design.
