The Chinese manufacturer of rugged smartphones has introduced a new flagship model of the device to the market called Ulefone Power Armor 13.
In this review, I will try to explain the essence of this device, for whom it is suitable and for whom it is not. Therefore, in this article you can learn not only about the build quality and performance, but also about performance, benchmark tests, games, see sample photos and much more.
If we talk about the cost, then at present they are asking for about $450 for a smartphone. The amount of money is not small at all, but do not forget that this is a flagship device with good performance.
For example, among the main features, I can single out this 6.81-inch IPS screen, a powerful Helio G95 processor, Android 11 version, 8 and 256 GB memory version.
But the main feature of this Ulefone Power Armor 13 model is its large built-in 13200 mAh battery. Perhaps this is a great advantage, but due to the large capacity of the battery, the thickness of the case and the weight of the device will be very important.
In addition, the device received many other features, but I will talk about them in more detail in a detailed and in-depth review below. Thus, I propose to start my test with unboxing and take a closer look at the appearance of the rugged smartphone.

Unboxing and packaging
The Power Armor 13 smartphone comes in the same packaging in appearance as its previous models. This is a rather large box that was painted in yellow. On the front side of the package, there is a drawing of the metal and the name of the model and company of the device. But on the back of the box was a sticker with the main features.
Inside the box, I was able to find this directly by the smartphone itself, on which a transport film with the main technical features was glued. In addition to the device itself, the package included a charging cable, a 33W power adapter, a Type-C adapter for headphones, and even a Type-C adapter for a USB-A port.
These are all standard equipment of the device, you can also order an endoscope and a protective plastic case with various accessories separately. The gadgets are interesting, but I don’t think they will be useful for most users. In general, the smartphone itself is very specific, so it is also not suitable for every user.
Design, build quality and materials
First of all, let me pay attention to the dimensions and weight of the device. Since this is a rugged smartphone, I think many of you understand that a smartphone can never be small and light. In the case of the Ulefone Power Armor 13, everything is very bad, since the dimensions were 184 x 85 x 20.8 mm, and the weight was almost 492 grams.
Believe me, the smartphone not only looks big, but in practice it is quite problematic to operate such a device. Therefore, if you are a female, then I do not think that this model of the device will be comfortable for you. That is, the rugged model will be useful for large people from 2 meters in height and above. Then using such a large device will be more or less comfortable.
I had no particular complaints about the quality of performance. Each button was pressed smoothly and responsively. In addition, the rugged smartphone was completely protected from drops and water under IP68/IP69K protection.
If we talk about the materials used, the smartphone was made of similar materials, like other devices of the same class. For example, the body of the smartphone was made of rubber and plastic, and there were metal inserts on the side ends. In addition, the corners of the smartphone were also completely protected by rubber and during a fall, the chance that the device is damaged will be minimal.
On the back of the device were four camera modules with five LED flashes. In addition, there are two openings near the cameras, one for the microphone and the other for the barometer. In the central part there is an NFC module and a platform for wireless charging of other devices. That is, through a smartphone, you can charge another smartphone, headphones or other gadgets. There is also a speaker connector on the same edge.
As for the sound quality, the sound on the smartphone was very even with a good margin of the volume level. But the sound quality was not particularly premium, especially when it comes to low frequencies. Also I would like to hear a little more bass here. But I was glad to see a separate headphone port, which was located on the bottom edge next to the Type-C port and microphone hole. In addition, the above ports were protected by a plug from dust and water.
Looking at the top of the device, I found an infrared laser for distance detection. That is, this sensor will be useful for measuring length in construction.
At the same time, on the right side of the rugged smartphone Ulefone Power Armor 13, there is a volume rocker, a power button and a fingerprint scanner. The scanner itself worked very accurately and quickly, so I had no problems with the scanner’s performance. But on the opposite side, that is, on the left side, there is a custom button for quick access to various functions and features. Slightly higher, there is a slot for dual SIM cards or one SIM card and a memory card. On the same side of the device, a six-pin connection for the endoscope was installed.
Okay, I figured out the appearance of the new model of the rugged smartphone Ulefone Power Armor 13, now let’s talk about its screen and its main features.
Screen and image quality
As I said, a large 6.81-inch screen size was installed on the front of the Ulefone Power Armor 13 smartphone. It uses an IPS matrix and the screen receives Full HD + resolution or 1080 x 2400 pixels.
I cannot say that the screen on the new model of the rugged smartphone was terrible. Quite the contrary, the image quality was transmitted with bright colors and had a good color reproduction. Therefore, I did not find any particular complaints when examining the new model of the device from Ulefone.
But the bezels around the screen remained quite significant, especially if you look at the top and bottom edges of the case. I think that the round cutout for the selfie camera is superfluous here, since the camera itself could be easily installed on the top bezel of the screen, right?
In the screen settings, in addition to automatic brightness adjustment, you can set functions such as dark theme, reading mode and much more. In general, I am satisfied with the screen, as for a rugged device. Okay, now let’s talk about benchmarks and games.
Performance, benchmark tests, games and OS
You might think that the Ulefone Power Armor 13 rugged smartphone received the Helio G95 gaming processor, but in fact it is not. This is a mid-budget processor that was introduced in mid-2020. It may be relatively new, but it is based on 12 nm technology. In addition, two Cortex-A76 cores are clocked at 2.05 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores are clocked at 2.0 GHz.
But in the AnTuTu test, the device scored about 345 thousand points and this is a very good indicator for its class of smartphones. In addition, below I will leave an album with benchmark tests, and you can compare the results with your smartphone or any other competitor.
Responsible for the graphics chipset ARM Mali-G76 MP4 with a clock speed of 900 MHz. In games, the smartphone also showed itself very well. For example, I was able to play PUBG Mobile, Genshin Impact and others. During my tests, I did not reveal a strong overheating and it was a pleasure to play. But do not forget that the smartphone weighs quite a lot and therefore you obviously won’t be able to play for a long time.
Inside the case of a rugged smartphone from Ulefone, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory were used. In addition, you can expand your memory with a microSD card slot up to 1 TB.
When it comes to wireless connectivity, the Power Armor 13 lacks a wide range of modern features. That is, it uses dual-band Wi-Fi without ac and has a Bluetooth 5.0 version. In addition, the smartphone had a good GPS module and there was an NFC module for contactless payments.
But the smartphone Power Armor 13 is controlled under the latest version of Android 11. The user interface was very much similar to other interfaces of rugged devices. That is, there were services and applications installed by Google, such as Youtube, Chrome and others.
I also found a useful application called ToolBox, which had a large list of features for building and more. Here you can also find the control feature of the infrared sensor for measuring distance.
Camera and sample photos
I cannot call the camera a strong point in the rugged Ulefone Power Armor 13. But if you want to take a good photo, then it is best to take it in good lighting or bright and sunny weather. The main camera module received a resolution of 48 megapixels. At the same time, there were three additional sensors on board the smartphone: an ultra wide module with a resolution of 8 megapixels and two more 2 megapixel modules for macro and bokeh shots.
On the front side of the device is a 16-megapixel camera for selfies. I can’t say that the selfies were super quality, but in good light the quality was very good.
In the camera application, I was able to find the following modes – video, photo, pro, macro and others. In addition, on the main sensor of the camera, the device is capable of recording 4K and 30 frames per second, but I did not find stabilization. But on a selfie camera, the maximum video resolution was only 1080p. As usual, you can see examples of shots taken with the Ulefone Power Armor 13 in the album below.
Battery and run time
The strongest point in the new Ulefone Power Armor 13 rugged device is its built-in battery. For example, the manufacturer Ulefone has installed a 13200 mAh battery in the body of a smartphone. This is a very solid indicator for this class of devices. Therefore, one should not be surprised that the dimensions and weight of the smartphone are so large.
During my testing, I was able to discharge the device only at the end of the fifth day. At the same time, I tested the smartphone very actively and did not spare the battery at all. In addition, I can say with confidence that the device will be able to work even more than 1 week if it is not used at high loads.
But the time to fully charge such a battery capacity will take you a lot of time. For example, in my case, the device charged from 0 to 100% in 5 hours, which is quite a lot. But I was glad to see that there is a wireless pad on the back of the smartphone. This means that I could easily charge other devices through the new smartphone model from Ulefone.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
The updated generation of the Ulefone Power Armor 13 rugged smartphone has surpassed all my expectations.
For example, on the positive side, I can single out the presence of a strong and large smartphone body. But do not forget that the dimensions and weight of the device will not suit every user and you need to be prepared for this.
I also liked the screen with its bright picture, performance and how the device performed in games and benchmark tests. In addition, the smartphone has a very high battery life and for many people this feature will come first.
Of the minuses, I can single out this charging time, although there is a 33W power adapter. The device also takes not very high-quality pictures in low light.
Thus, I can conclude that this smartphone model is suitable for those people who need high battery life and good protection from the outside world. These can be rock climbers, people who often go hiking and others.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
As I mentioned at the beginning of the review, the price tag for the new model of the Ulefone Power Armor 13 rugged smartphone will not be the smallest. You can currently purchase the device for $450.
Yes, this is not a bad model of a rugged smartphone that has received many interesting features. But is this smartphone worth your attention? I think so, but for a very narrowly specialized circle of people.
