I have not come across a Ulefone company for a long time, which focuses purely on protected or rugged smartphones. Recently, the company introduced a new smartphone called Ulefone Armor 7.
In this review, I will talk about all the advantages and disadvantages of the device, I will also conduct tests for performance and cameras.
Now you can buy Ulefone Armor 7 at an interesting price for $370. Of course, you might think that the price is not at all small, but in terms of technical characteristics, the device is decent.
The Armor 7 model received a protected case from water and shock of the IP68 standard, a new Helio P90 processor, 8/128 GB of memory, a triple camera with a 48-megapixel sensor, a 5500 mAh battery and much more.
I’ve always been interested in rugged smartphones and the new generation in the Armor lineup looks very good, let’s move on to the full review.

Ulefone Armor 7: Unboxing
I got a rather heavy yellow box, which characterizes that the device inside is protected. Also on the front side, there is the name of the model, company, and icons with the protection designation IP68, IP69K and others.
On the back of the box, there is a sticker with the main specs of the device.
Inside the box, I found the smartphone itself in a protective film and the main specifications. Below was an envelope with protective glass, napkins and a SIM needle. At the very bottom, I found a 15 W power adapter, a Type-C charging cable in red, Type-C adapters on micro USB and a 3.5 mm audio jack, an OTG cable, and a cord.
I always love when the equipment of a smartphone is good and rich, but the modern trend of smartphones removes useful ports, such as 3.5 mm for headphones, so I was a little disappointed with the adapter.
Ulefone Armor 7: Design
I want to note right away that the Armor 7 smartphone is not small and its dimensions are 166 x 81 x 13.6 mm and weigh 290 grams. Of course, even with one hand to hold and operate will be problematic, but because of this, you will receive a completely protected device from water and dirt.
The new generation of Ulefone is made from a combination of protective glass, rubber, and plastic. As you can see, the corners and side edges are protected by rubber, so even if you fall, the device will not be damaged.
A large 6.3-inch screen with a waterdrop notch for the front camera is installed on the front of the device. Of course, the manufacturer is trying to make a rugged smartphone more modern with minimal frames around the screen.
The rear panel received three sensors of the main camera, five LEDs for the flash, a heart rate sensor and the bottom of the main speaker.
On the bottom edge of Armor 7, only the Type-C port and the main microphone are installed. On the top is an infrared sensor and the inscription IP68.
The right side of the smartphone received a fingerprint scanner, a power button, and separate volume buttons. I want to note that the fingerprint scanner works quickly and the location is quite convenient.
The left side has a multi-function button that you can configure for any functions and a hybrid slot for dual nano-SIM cards or one nano-SIM card and memory cards.
The appearance of the smartphone looks attractive and modern, given that it is a rugged smartphone. I have no questions about the quality of the assembly, as well as the materials, each element is assembled well and accurately.
Of the minuses I wanted to attribute – this is the lack of a 3.5 mm audio jack and the presence of a hybrid slot, and not a full one with dual SIM and a memory card at the same time.
Ulefone Armor 7: Screen
As I said, Ulefone Armor 7 received a 6.3-inch screen with Full HD + resolution or 1080 x 2340 pixels. The device uses a standard IPS screen, like most Chinese models of smartphones.
The image quality is not bad and the brightness level is also quite high. Even if you use your smartphone in direct sunlight, the screen will be readable in any case.
The pixel density is 409 PPI and uses a 60 Hz refresh rate. Also in the settings, you can set the night mode to protect your eyes from bright blue and white.
The touchpad received only 5 touches, so you won’t play fast games, but for everyday use, it’s a good indicator.
Ulefone Armor 7: Performance and Software
The main feature of Ulefone Armor 7 is the availability of the new Helio P90 or MT6779 processor. The chipset runs on an eight-core processor, where six is an Arm Cortex-A55 with a clock frequency of 2.0 GHz and two Arm Cortex-A75 with a maximum frequency of 2.2 GHz.
The device received 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, of course, the amount of memory, like a real flagship.
Besides, the processor works in conjunction with a graphics processor called IMG PowerVR GM9446. As practice has shown, modern games at high graphics settings work well and if you want to play PUBG Mobile or other games you will not have any problems.
Below I will show the benchmark results on Ulefone Armor 7. As you can see, the Helio P90 processor is comparable to the Snapdragon 730.
The new generation of rugged smartphone uses the Android 9.0 operating system with an almost clean interface.
When I turned on for the first time, I saw a wallpaper with the characteristic name of the Armor 7 model. It looks pretty good and if you don’t like it, you can install any other picture on your desktop.
On applications, I did not find any extraneous programs and the user interface looks like a stock one. Of course, the manufacturer changed the size and shape of the icons, but overall I liked the interface on Armor 7.
In the settings menu, it looks typical and standard for Android devices, I also found a face recognition function. After installing and configuring this function, it works quickly and recognizes the face every time for sure.
Also, as on previous models, I found an application tool that will be useful for many users. Here, I discovered – a compass, level, plumb line, sound level meter, pulse, pedometer and much more. The heart rate monitor and heart rate are completely the same as on fitness bracelets.
Ulefone Armor 7: Sound and Communication
On the Ulefone Armor 7 smartphone, the main speaker is located on the rear panel, of course, this is not the best position. But, since this is a rugged smartphone, there is no other way out of the speaker.
The sound quality is pretty good and the volume level is high. Of course, there is almost no bass and the sound itself is flat, but if you watch movies or TV shows, then there will be no problems.
Another drawback is the lack of a 3.5 mm audio jack, so you can only use an adapter or wireless headphones.
The device has full support for 4G LTE worldwide, so there will be no communication problems. In addition, Armor 7 received dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n (2.4G + 5G) and Bluetooth 5.0.
Also, I want to note that navigation works accurately and quickly thanks to the presence of GPS + GLONASS + Beidou + Galileo. Another bonus is the availability of wireless NFC payment for your purchases through the terminal.
Ulefone Armor 7: Camera
The main camera is based on three sensors, where the main one is a 48-megapixel module from Samsung Isocell Bright GM1. Also, the second sensor is 16-megapixels and as the manufacturer says, it is for night photos. The last is at 8 megapixels for telephoto shots.
The front camera received a 16-megapixel sensor.
The camera application looks standard and has typical shooting modes. I would like to note that now very popular ultra-wide shots, but this model does not support this feature.
I have no questions about the quality of the pictures if we talk about daytime photos with good lighting. But at night, the photo is well lit, but if you zoom in, you can see big noises. Below I will leave some examples of shots from Armor 7.
Ulefone Armor 7: Battery
Inside the large case, a small battery was installed with a capacity of 5500 mAh and support for fast charging through a 15W power adapter.
During testing of the new Armor 7 model, I was pleasantly surprised by the battery life on a single charge. I suggest that the latest generation Helio P90 processor did a good job with power consumption.
Therefore, in my case, at maximum load, the device worked for about 1.5 days. If you use the phone at medium loads – the operating time will be approximately 2-3 days.
It is also worth noting that Ulefone Armor 7 received 10W wireless charging and you can officially buy a proprietary docking station in the store from Ulefone.
Ulefone Armor 7: Conclusions and Reviews
The rugged smartphones become not only reliable but also quite productive and modern in terms of design.
With each generation, Ulefone strives to stand out and install many useful features and options, such as a heart rate sensor, pedometer, and more.
I have no questions at all about the build quality and materials, the performance is at a good level, the screen is bright and has good colors, and the battery life is at a decent level.
Of the minuses include the lack of a 3.5 mm audio jack and a hybrid memory card slot. Also, the quality of photos at night is not the best and the lack of a mode with wide-angle shots.
Ulefone Armor 7: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
Now you can buy a rugged smartphone Ulefone Armor 7 at a low price for only $359.99, but the price will increase.
If you need a truly protected or rugged device from water, drops, and dust with a modern design and good performance, then Armor 7 will be a good choice.
