On my site, Tronsmart has almost become a regular guest, as today I will talk about new inexpensive wireless earbuds called Tronsmart Onyx Neo.
I would like to remind you of the Tronsmart Spunky Beat testing earbuds, which have shown themselves on the positive side.
In this article, I will try to reveal all the cards of the new hero and tell you what are the differences between the two Onyx Neo and Spunky Beat models.
Now you can buy a new generation of Tronsmart Onyx Neo earbuds at a low price for just $24.99. But the Spunky Beat model will cost you a little more for $29.99.
In terms of technical specifications, the Onyx Neo model is no different from the Spunky Beat. For example, earbuds with support for Bluetooth 5.0, support for Qualcomm QCC3020 chipset and APTX codec, IPX5 water protection and much more.
So what are the differences between the two models, let’s understand the detailed review.

Tronsmart Onyx Neo: Unboxing
The appearance of boxed models is almost identical. The Onyx Neo model has a small box on which you can see Qualcomm and aptX inscriptions.
Although the Spunky Beat model uses the same technical features.
Inside the box, I found separately lying earbuds and a charging case, as well as three sets of silicone cables, a Type-C charging cable, and instructions for use in different languages.
Given its low price of $25, I was very surprised to have a Type-C cab. The overall impression is very positive and the equipment is surprisingly excellent.
Tronsmart Onyx Neo: Design
There is a difference in the appearance of the two models, although not much. For example, the Spunky Beat model has an additional USB-A cable for charging the box, and the external part of the earbuds is made with an interesting pattern. The differences end there and they are very similar in design.
The Tronsmart Onyx Neo earbuds have the same shape as their predecessors. Therefore, it sits very well in the ear canal, does not fall out, even when doing sports or running. Long-wearing will not be a problem since the size and weight of the earbuds are small. The weight of one Onyx Neo earbud was about 3.6 grams.
The front part received touch control and this time a glossy smooth surface, there is also a red-blue LED circle. In addition, you can see the hole for the microphone.
The inner part of the earbuds is made of matte plastic and there are contacts for charging and channel designation.
The sound guide is short, so when using it, you need to choose the right size of ear pads for your ears to get maximum wearing comfort and high-quality sound. On the basis of the sound guide, there is a ledge for silicone ear cushions and the sound guide is closed with rag material.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the review, Tronsmart Onyx Neo got protection against IPX5 water against hearths or small splashes.
The earbud charging case is made of matte black material, which is pleasant to the touch and is not much smeared by fingerprints, such as glossy.
There are differences between the two models, such as the Onyx Neo lacking an additional USB charging cable, a wrist strap and only one LED charge level indicator, instead of four, like the Spunky Beat.
The lid has a magnetic connection and I did not find any comments on the build quality, in general, everything was done efficiently and well.
One of the advantages, despite its price, is the presence of a Type-C port for charging.
Indeed, this solution is very rare, but this is definitely a positive side for Onyx Neo wireless earbuds.
Tronsmart Onyx Neo: Connection and Control
Due to the presence of Bluetooth 5.0 connection, support for Qualcomm QCC3020 chipset and aptX codec, I can not say bad for the connection during testing. During the testing period, I did not find any hitches or disconnects. The working distance is up to 10 meters from the source.
The first connection does not stand out from other manufacturers and it is very simple and intuitive. First, you need to get the earbuds out of the case, turn them on when the red-blue LED lights up, go to the Bluetooth menu and select the desired device from the list.
The control is very rich and given its low price, I was simply surprised. For example, one press – play/pause, also accept/hang up. Double touch – volume control, triple – switch tracks, depending on the channel. The call Voice Assistant – hold for about two seconds on any channel. Agree, the control has wide functionality and even in earbuds with a price tag above there will be no such features.
Tronsmart Onyx Neo: Sound
Finding a large driver size in budget headphones is unrealistic, so Tronsmart Onyx Neo has a standard size for the sound, namely a 6 mm dynamic driver.
If we compare the sound of the two models, then there will not be any strong differences between the earbuds, but still, the Onyx Neo model received some improvement.
The low frequencies became a little brighter and more detailed, which had a good effect on the sound of dynamic music. The bass is very deep and large, as in the previous generation Spunky Beat. In addition, the bass received texture and good dynamics.
The mid frequencies have a good volume of sound, and high frequencies remain the same as on the previous model, that is, are relegated to the background.
This model of wireless earbuds is well suited for listening to multi-instrumental jazz, of course, it will not be as ideal as in more expensive models.
The microphone quality remains the same as on the Spunky Beat, that is, average. For long phone calls is not ideal, but for short calls will not be a problem.
Tronsmart Onyx Neo: Battery
Each earbud has a 35 mAh battery capacity, which will be enough to listen to music for about 5 hours and 30 minutes at maximum volume.
Also, the charging box received a 350mAh battery, which is able to charge earbuds 2-3 times.
After the results of testing the battery life, I was completely satisfied with the numbers.
The earbud charging time will be about 1 hour through the case, and the charging of the case itself will take about 2 hours.
Tronsmart Onyx Neo: Conclusion and Reviews
Despite the fact that the price of the new Tronsmart Onyx Neo model is even lower than that of its predecessor, but it received some improvements.
Before we talk about the pros, let’s talk about the cons. The first thing I wanted to note is the touch control, which is quite sensitive and random clicks will be present. I did not find other strongly critical remarks during the testing of earbuds.
There are many more pluses and I can attribute them to them, such as good technical specifications, for example, the presence of Qualcomm QCC3020 chipset and aptX codec, Type-C port, good sound quality for its low price.
Tronsmart Onyx Neo: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
Now you can purchase the new Tronsmart Onyx Neo earbuds at an amazing price for only $24.99 with a 75% discount.
If you need better sound quality then Onyx Neo would be a good choice. But, if you need more functionality, for example, an additional USB charging cable, then the choice will be for the Spunky Beat model.
