After the successful release of the Teclast M40 tablet, the Chinese brand decided to introduce a slightly updated version of the device called the Teclast M40 Pro.
In fact, these two tablet models from Teclast are very similar to each other. Therefore, I want to ask the main question to the manufacturer, is the new generation of the tablet worth its attention? Thus, if you want to know the answer to this question, I propose to talk about the new tablet model in this detailed review.
At the same time, the price tag for a device with a Pro prefix will cost a new user for $188. Let me remind you that the regular version of the Teclast M40 tablet will cost $170. As you can see, the difference is not very big, so let me tell you about the main differences and the main technical characteristics of the new tablet model.
First of all, it should be said that both Teclast M40 and M40 Pro tablets are very similar, both in characteristics and in appearance. For example, the front of the device uses a 10.1-inch IPS screen with Full HD resolution. Also, the Teclast tablet was equipped with a Unisoc T618 processor with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory.
Also on board the M40 Pro tablet, there is a slot for dual nano SIM cards with support for the 4G network. In addition, I can highlight the presence of an 8 megapixel main and 5 megapixel front camera module. Okay, I told you about the main technical features of the updated generation. But all of the above features are completely identical to the previous generation M40.
What are the main changes received by the improved version of the tablet from Teclast, let’s talk about them in more detail. The new generation of the device was equipped with the updated Android 11 operating system, while the previous generation had only the Android 10 version.
Also, the M40 Pro tablet received a 7000 mAh battery, while the M40 version had a 6000 mAh battery. Even in the device of the new sample, you can find four speakers, but in the last generation there were two speakers.
As you can guess, the differences between the devices are not big. Therefore, let’s find out whether the new generation of the device is worth its attention or not. Thus, I propose to start my full and in-depth review with the unboxing and appearance of the device.

Unboxing and packaging
The new model of the M40 Pro tablet comes in the same packaging as the previous generation. This is recycled cardboard, on which you can only see the name of the model and company of the device. At the same time, the box itself was made of a rather dense material and therefore the tablet came to me without any damage.
I have the most standard equipment, which includes, directly, the tablet itself, a power adapter with a Chinese plug (without an adapter to a European outlet), there is also an instruction manual and a warranty card.
In addition, you can additionally order a protective cover made of pleasant translucent plastic with a separate built-in keyboard. Since this is the Chinese version of the tablet, additional accessories will cost you a few pennies. Let’s say a protective case with a keyboard will cost only $7.
Design, build quality and materials
The appearance between the Teclast M40 and M40 Pro tablets began to differ slightly, but in fact all the controls and external connections remained in their usual places. The main changes I can attribute is the presence of a completely metal case, which was made of gray. Let me remind you that the last generation was black. I think gray will work better than black, right?
As for the workmanship, I have no particular complaints about the updated version of the Teclast M40 Pro tablet. The body was assembled from a monolithic alloy of metal and I did not observe any special squeaks and extraneous sounds during my testing.
As for the dimensions, they remained the same as on the previous generation of the device. For example, the dimensions of the tablet model M40 Pro were 243 x 163 x 9.2 mm, and the weight of the device did not exceed 500 grams. In my hands, the tablet lay very well, and I could use the device for hours and my hands did not get very tired.
But if it will be problematic for you to hold the tablet all the time, then I advise you to buy a separate protective case, which has a stand. It will be a useful accessory for your tablet, in addition, it will protect the device from accidental drops or scratches during transportation in a backpack or bag.
If you look at the back of the device, you will notice a slight difference between the design of the main camera. On the new tablet model, the camera sensor was made in a round rim. But the last generation of the Teclast tablet had a square camera module in its performance.
Now let’s go through the main external connections and control buttons. For example, on the right side of the M40 Pro tablet case, a volume rocker with a power button was installed. You can also find a microphone hole nearby. Below is the Type-C port for charging the device. But nothing was found on the left side of the device.
At the same time, on the upper edge, in addition to two speakers, you can find a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a combined slot for dual nano SIM cards or one nano SIM card and a MicroSD memory card. In the meantime, two additional speakers were installed on the bottom edge of the case. That is, in total it turns out that the tablet received four speakers.
In terms of sound quality, I liked the way the four speakers play on the M40 Pro tablet. The sound really turned out to be quite loud, but it is difficult to call it high-quality, since the low frequencies were weak and the bass was practically not heard. Despite this, I liked the presence of the headphone jack, which worked properly and without any questions.
In general, the body of the updated tablet came out very good. For example, the device has received a sturdy appearance thanks to the metal alloy of the case. I also especially liked the presence of a combined SIM card slot and a memory card. Therefore, you can use a tablet with a 4G network not only at home, but also in any part of the city.
Screen and image quality
Similar to the Teclast M40 tablet model, the new generation of the M40 Pro device also received exactly the same screen size at 10.1 inches. At the same time, the frames around the screen remained the same as in the previous generation. Although, as you can see from the picture drawn on the official website, the frames look much smaller there.
It should be noted that the new generation of the screen received Full HD resolution or 1920 x 1200 pixels. And the pixel density per inch was 225 PPI, which is not as bad as for the budget class of devices.
In addition, I liked the color scheme of color rendering. In practice, it was a pleasure to use the screen, the picture was quite bright and saturated with various colors. The screen also received wide viewing angles and a good touch panel that was easy to use. That is, I did not have accidental clicks and all actions were accurate.
It is also worth mentioning that the screen used an oleophobic coating. Therefore, I did not have relatively severe problems with readability in the open air. I can also note that typing text on a touch screen will not be the most successful idea. And to solve this problem, it is better to buy a separate keyboard, which will cost you a few dollars. But the keyboard is needed for those who often plan to type texts or work with documents for a large amount of time.
Performance, benchmarks, games and OS
I can also highlight a similar situation regarding the performance of the new generation of the Teclast M40 Pro tablet. It remained intact, like her predecessor. For example, a Unisoc T618 processor was installed on board the device, which had 8 cores in its performance. At the same time, two cores were Cortex A75 with a clock frequency of 2.0 GHz, and the remaining six cores were energy-saving Cortex A55 with a frequency of 1.8 GHz.
Looking at the benchmark results, I was pleasantly surprised by the AnTuTu score. Since the tablet scored about 236 thousand points, which is very good for a budget device. In addition, you can see other benchmark test results in the album below.
Responsible for the graphics video accelerator Mali-G52 with a frequency of 850 MHz. Perhaps this is not the most powerful accelerator that I have been able to test, but there were no major problems in games here. I even managed to play demanding games such as PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9. I did not find any problems during my use, the frame rate was always stable and the device also did not heat up to a critical state.
Inside the body of the Teclast M40 Pro tablet, a good amount of RAM and internal memory is used. For example, there is 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. At the same time, the built-in memory does not really stand out in terms of operating speed. For example, the read speed was about 150 MBps, and the write speed was about 135 MBps. Also, if the built-in memory is not enough for you, then you can use the microSD card slot without any problems.
Another tablet M40 Pro stands out for its good wireless modules. On board the device, you can find the presence of a built-in dual-band Wi-Fi module, Bluetooth 5.0 version, GPS and, most importantly, there is a 4G network for calls and the Internet. It’s rare to find a SIM card tray in budget tablets, but Teclast offers this feature.
A small change in the new generation of the tablet is the version of the operating system. If the previous generation had Android 10 version, then the new generation has Android 11 version. This is definitely good news for most users. But in fact, I would like to see an update to the operating version on the last generation as well. Because if you already have a Teclast M40 tablet, then why not upgrade it over the air to a new version of the OS, as most manufacturers do.
I had no strong complaints about the work of the user interface. All processes went smoothly and without much delay. Besides, the user interface itself looks very clean and without unnecessary applications. But there were applications with Google services, and this is also a big plus on the part of the manufacturer.
Battery and run time
At the beginning of the review, I mentioned that the battery capacity of the Teclast M40 Pro tablet has become larger compared to the previous generation. Now, inside the case, a 7000 mAh battery capacity is used, but in the past generation had a 6000 mAh battery capacity. The difference is quite significant and this has a positive effect on the battery life.
For example, during my testing, the device was able to work a little more than one working day. At the same time, I did not regret the battery at all. That is, I conducted various benchmark tests, played games and even used the LTE network.
The time to fully charge the battery has also increased slightly, now the M40 Pro device is fully charged for 3 hours via the Type-C connection.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
If you look at the Teclast M40 Pro device from one side, then it has many positive aspects.
But I did not find any strong differences between the Teclast M40 and M40 Pro versions. For example, both devices use a completely similar screen, processor and amount of memory with wireless features.
That being said, during my testing, I completely liked the user interface and battery life thanks to the increased battery capacity up to 7000 mAh.
But the disadvantages remained the same, like those of its predecessor – this is not a particularly high-quality camera and microphone performance. I can also highlight a small drawback is the speed of reading and writing the internal memory of the tablet.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
The cost of the new generation of the Teclast M40 Pro tablet has remained almost the same as that of the older version. Currently, you can grab the device for as little as $188.67.
Therefore, on my own I can easily recommend this version of the tablet. But if you already have a Teclast M40 model, then I see no reason to update it to the version with the Pro prefix.
