SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE Review: Dual Dynamic Drivers with Good Sound

SoundPEATS recently introduced the next updated generation of Truengine wireless earbuds. Earlier this year, I already talked about the SoundPEATS Truengine 2 model, today we will talk about the new generation, namely the SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE.

In this review, I will share my impressions of the sound quality, as well as talk about the advantages and disadvantages. Whether the next generation Truengine 3 SE will sound much better than the Truengine 2, you will find out in a detailed review.

The SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE costs about $50. Considering that the Truengine 2 currently costs about $ 80, the price tag for the Truengine 3 SE is very attractive.

From a technical point of view, the new TWS earbuds received a dual dynamic driver, support for aptX codec, touch control, and high battery life.

Indeed, the earbuds are quite attractive, but how will they perform in real life? You can find out all the nuances, pros, and cons in the detailed test. And now I want to start my story with the appearance and equipment.

Unboxing and what’s inside the box

A small square box meets me at the beginning of my acquaintance. This is a typical box like most models of wireless earbuds from SoundPEATS.

On the front, there is a drawing of the earbuds themselves with the model name and the company logo. On the reverse side, you can find out brief information about the brand itself.

Inside the box, there is a familiar list for everyone – this is a charging box with earbuds, a set of silicone ear tips, a Type-C cable, and instructions. I was also surprised to find one pair of Comply foam ear tips. These ear tips can conform to your ear canal for richer and better sound.

I also liked the presence of a Type-C cable in the kit, and the bundle itself is very decent, given its cost. Now let’s talk about the design, how it has changed for the better or for the worse.

Appearance, build quality and materials

In terms of design, the new SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE earbuds have a very similar appearance to the previous generation Truengine 2. But I can note that the real hero of our test has more comfortable shapes that fit perfectly into my ear canal.

Based on this, the dimensions of the new model have become a little smaller, but the presence of dual drivers remains the same. This is good news not only for me but also for many users, for example, women.

Indeed, the earbuds look very harmonious in the ears, they do not stick out and give a good impression, like most other large models, even the Truengine 2.

Once again, in terms of wearing comfort, I really liked the new generation SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE earbuds. They sit comfortably in my ears, do not fall out even when running, and after several hours of wearing my ears did not hurt.

The body of Truengine 3 SE is made of a pleasant matte plastic to the touch. On the outside, there is a golden touch control button. In addition, on the same side, there is an LED indicator and a hole for a microphone.

The inner side of the earbuds has transparent plastic through which dual dynamic drivers are visible, which are responsible for their frequency range. You can also notice the contacts for charging and the channel designation.

In addition, TWS earbuds have received IPX5 water protection. Of course, this is not complete protection against water, but you can not be afraid of splashes or light rain, not to mention sweat.

The charging case has received a typical look, like most other models of this brand. It is made of matte black plastic which is quite wear-resistant to the environment.

The name of the company is written on the top of the lid and the lid itself opens almost without any backlash. Therefore, the build and materials used are pretty decent.

Under the lid, there are seats for earbuds, and between them, there are four indicators that indicate the level of charge in the box. A modern Type-C charging port was installed on the back of the case.

Like most models of the SoundPEATS brand, I really liked the new generation Truengine 3 SE, but I will not jump to conclusions. Let’s talk about signal quality and control.

Connectivity, signal quality, latency and control functions

I am no longer surprised by the presence of a Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connection on the SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE. Therefore, the communication quality of the transmitted sound is quite at a decent level.

Considering that TWS earbuds additionally received support for the Qualcomm chipset and aptX codec, the Truengine 3 SE model feels confident in real life. I have not observed any failures, disconnections, or anything similar. The signal was caught stably at a distance of even 10 meters from the source.

If we talk about latency, then there is a slight delay. While watching videos on Youtube, it is insignificant, but in games, it is felt more.

Touch control is a small upgrade over previous generations. As a reminder, previous generations of the Truengine line had a mechanical control button. In terms of functionality, there are all the necessary features, including even volume control.

  • Double-clicking on any earbud calls – play, pause, accept, or put a phone conversation.
  • One-touch on the right earbud will increase the volume, and the left one will decrease the volume.
  • Holding 1.5 seconds on the right earbud is the next track, and on the left one is the previous one.
  • A triple tap calls up the voice assistant function.

Sound and microphone quality

As I already mentioned, dual dynamic drivers were installed inside each earbud. One is responsible for the low frequencies, and the other for the mid and high frequencies.

The first thing I wanted to pay attention to is a high volume level. SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE plays quite dynamically and at the same time very loudly.

The low frequencies are well developed, they do not interrupt the mid and high frequencies, since each driver does its job separately. This is a good combination that will allow you to use the earbuds in a variety of conditions.

For example, you can easily enjoy your favorite music in various genres. From rock to classics. Musical instruments are legible individually and the vocalist’s voice sounds straightforward.

Compared to previous generations, SoundPEATS has done a good job on the Truengine 3 SE. The sound quality has become much brighter and more dynamic.

It’s also worth noting that the earbuds use four CVC 8.0 noise-canceling microphones. Early models had a CvC 6.0 version, so now extraneous noise will be cut better, and the interlocutor’s voice will be heard more clearly.

Battery and charging time

SoundPEATS does not indicate the battery capacity in the new Truengine 3 SE earbuds and its charging box. But it guarantees about 6.5 hours of battery life on a single charge and 30 hours of battery life using the box.

As my practice has shown, the battery life of the earbuds at 70% volume was about 6 hours. Nevertheless, this is a serious result, considering that the earbuds have a good volume smell and dual dynamic drivers.

The charging time via the SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE’s Type-C connection will take you up to 1.5 hours.

Conclusion, reviews, advantages, and disadvantages

If you are looking for versatile wireless earbuds with quality sound for the right price, then the SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE is a good choice.

SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE Review: Dual Dynamic Drivers with Good Sound

TWS earbuds work well in terms of wearing comfort, both during sports and during daily use. The build quality and materials used are quite high.

I was also very pleased to see the wide functionality of touch controls with the presence of a volume control function. In addition, the battery life is at a decent level, and the presence of a Type-C connection will not disappoint the future owner.

On the downside, I can mention a slight latency while playing games or watching videos on Youtube. I did not find any other strong flaws, given my low cost.

Price and where to buy cheaper?

Another strong point for the new generation of TWS earbuds SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE is its cost. Currently, you can buy earbuds at an attractive price for only $49.95 with a 55% discount.

Without any doubt, I can recommend the earbuds for purchase. They are ideal for both sports and listening to music while commuting or studying.
