Despite its high popularity, SoundPEATS offers a large number of budget wireless earbuds, and this time I want to share with you a new model called SoundPEATS TrueFree 2.
The SoundPEATS brand of wireless earbuds produces a new model almost every month and keeping track of all its devices is very difficult. Naturally, I left a link here where you can familiarize yourself with all TWS earbuds that I tested earlier.
Most SoundPEATS earbuds belong to the budget category and the new TrueFree 2 model also. The earbud price tag is currently around $29.
If you look at the official site and its technical specs, the earbuds are quite attractive in appearance. They also received IPX7 water protection and have a 6mm composite diaphragm speaker.
But before talking about the main advantages and disadvantages of this TrueFree 2 model, I want to tell a little about my impression about the configuration and build quality.
SoundPEATS TrueFree 2: Specifications
|SoundPEATS TrueFree 2:||Specs|
|Driver unit:||6 mm composite diaphragm driver|
|Bluetooth protocol:||AAC and SBC|
The appearance of the box has received a small size. Where on the front side, there is an earbud pattern, company logo, and model name. The reverse side of the box also has a picture and brief information about the company.
Inside the box was a quality-packed charging box with earbuds inside. The box itself was protected by black foam and therefore I had no problems with transportation.
At the bottom of the box are a Type-C format charging cable, three pairs of silicone ear tips, and two pairs of wings tips for better earbud attachment in the auricle.
The configuration is quite wide and I have no strong complaints about the quality of workmanship and the configuration itself.
SoundPEATS TrueFree 2 is stylish, but also at other times practical earbuds. They are made of matte black plastic, which does not leave fingerprints or scratches.
Build quality is decent and I liked the way they sit in the ear canal of my ears. Also thanks to the presence of soft silicone wing tips that help hold the headphones in the ear canal tightly. Therefore, you can run, jump, or engage in any other activity without fear of losing one or both earbuds.
In addition, I can confirm that the SoundPEATS TrueFree 2 model is well suited for sports, as it received protection from IPX7 water. The manufacturer says that you can swim in the earbuds, but I would not recommend using them actively in swimming in the pool. Frequent immersion in water will adversely affect microphone performance.
On the front of the SoundPEATS TrueFree 2 earbud, there is a mechanical control button, an operation LED, and a company logo. As for the mechanical control button, it works very easily. Thus, while switching tracks, I did not have any pressure in the ear canal.
On the inside, there are magnetic contacts for charging and a label with a channel designation. The sound guide has received a standard size and with the right choice of eartips, earbuds are suitable for most types of ears.
The charging box is made of the same matte plastic as the TrueFree 2 earbuds themselves. On the top of the lid, there is a company logo and the lid itself opens by magnetic connection.
From the inside of the box, there are earbud jacks. Also in the central part, there are four LED indicators that indicate the remaining battery level.
On the back of the charging box installed a modern Type-C connector for charging. It is also worth noting that the dimensions of the box are not large, so putting a case in your jeans pocket will not be a problem.
I was left with positive emotions after inspecting the look of the new wireless earbuds from SoundPEATS. But let’s not hastily draw premature conclusions and I will talk about the quality of the signal and sound.
Connection and Control
Currently, the latest models of wireless earbuds have a Bluetooth connection with version 5.0 – this applies to the SoundPEATS TrueFree 2 model.
The device is connected quickly and easily, so I will not stop there.
The signal quality even at a distance of 10 meters is quite stable and I did not have any interruptions or interference. But I did not find any information about the codecs used, although I assume the presence of AAC and SBC.
The latency while watching the video is not heard at all, but during the games, there is a slight delay. The manufacturer promises a game mode with a delay of 65 ms. But I do not think that such a latency will be so small since even in gaming headphones the latency is about 100 ms.
But the controls are pretty wide-ranging.
- One-click – play, pause, accept, or answer a call.
- Double-clicking on the left earbud – decrease the volume, and on the right earbud – increase the volume.
- Holding for 1.5 seconds on the left earbud is the previous track, and on the right earbud is the next track.
- Triple tap – calls the voice assistant on a smartphone or other device.
Despite the standard driver size of 6 mm, the sound quality is pretty good for the new SoundPEATS TrueFree 2. It uses not a dynamic driver, but a composite diaphragm speaker.
The sound quality at low frequencies is very high quality and I like it in sound because it has deep bass. The bass itself sounds deep, but it does not interrupt other frequencies.
Mids and highs play clearly and without any wheezing, even at the maximum volume level. Each musical instrument is audibly audible and listening to the music of various genres will not be a problem.
The microphone quality is at a decent level and your interlocutor will hear you well, even in noisy places.
Again, the manufacturer of SoundPEATS does not indicate the battery capacity in the earbuds and in the charging case.
But the battery life at the same charge level in the earbuds themselves will be about 4 hours at a volume level of 70%. With a charging box, the total battery life will be about 20 hours.
I was very pleased with the Type-C charging port and the charging time would be about 1.5 hours.
