A little over a month ago, I tested earbuds from Redmi, namely the Redmi Buds 3 Pro model. But today we will talk about a slightly different version of the device called Redmi Buds 3.
In fact, the Redmi Buds 3 model is newer than the Pro ending model. In addition, both models are generally different, both in appearance and in their functionality.
Therefore, if you want to know what the new version of Redmi Buds 3 wireless earbuds is capable of, then this review will be useful for you. In addition, here you can find out not only about the main advantages, but also about the disadvantages and all the nuances.
In terms of cost, you can currently purchase the Redmi Buds 3 earbuds for $30. Let me remind you that the version with the Pro ending will cost you $49.
What about the main technical features? The Redmi Buds 3 earbuds are distinguished by the presence of a modern QCC 3040 chipset with Bluetooth 5.2 version. In addition, the device received a 12 mm driver and two built-in microphones with ambient noise suppression function.
Also, the new generation of TWS earbuds was made in the style of semi in-ear earbuds. Therefore, there are no silicone ear tips here. The device also received good battery life up to 20 hours without recharging.
Thus, I propose to start full testing and I planned to start my first acquaintance with unboxing and the main design features.

Unboxing and packaging
The earbuds from Redmi are delivered in the most typical and simple packaging, which was made in white. At the same time, the density of the cardboard was not particularly thick, but the packaging came to me for the test intact and without any damage.
On the front of the package, you can find a drawing of the earbuds with the name of the model and company. But on the opposite side of the package, there is a list of the main features and technical specs.
In the meantime, I found the following components inside the package, such as a charging case with earbuds. There was also a short Type-C charging cable and instructions for use. Since these are semi in-ear earbuds, there will not be an additional set of ear tips here.
Design, build quality and materials
First of all, I want to highlight that the new version of the Redmi Buds 3 wireless earbuds comes in only one white color. But at the official store of the company, you can additionally buy a silicone case for the charging box for a small amount of money. I think that a case will be a good purchase so that your earbuds are always in perfect condition.
If we talk about the quality of performance, then I did not reveal any special complaints during my testing. Since in the earbuds from Redmi, all the components were perfectly fitted and all the gaps were in place.
In addition, while wearing, I did not identify any extraneous sounds and squeaks. I can also highlight the protection against sweat and splashes under the IP54 standard. However, you cannot use the earbuds in a humid environment such as a swimming pool or shower.
As for the materials of manufacture used? The Redmi Buds 3 earbuds were made of glossy white plastic. As for me, this is not the best material to make. After a short time of testing, there were a large number of abrasions and even micro scratches on its surface. For example, you won’t have such problems from matte plastic.
Good, but the weight of one earbud did not exceed 4.5 grams. Therefore, in terms of wearing, I did not have any special complaints at all. In addition, I could wear these semi in-ear earbuds all day and even forget that I had something in the ear canal. These are very comfortable and most importantly comfortable earbuds.
The outer part of the Redmi Buds 3 earbuds received a touch control panel with a microphone hole. Also on the bottom leg, there are contacts for charging and a main microphone for talking. Meanwhile, on the inside, there is a proximity sensor for automatic pause. At the same time, this sensor works properly and without any questions.
Now let’s talk about the charging case itself and its features. It was also made of glossy white plastic, like the earbuds themselves. On the front of the box, I found one LED indicator with a mechanical pairing button. But on the bottom of the case, there was a Type-C connector for charging.
At the same time, I should note that the lid of the charging box opened without a single backlash and problems. Therefore, the assembly was at a high level, as for the budget TWS earbud class. Well, I figured out the appearance and design features, now I propose to discuss the quality of the connection and the level of latency.
Connection, latency and touch control
The latest version of Bluetooth 5.2 is responsible for wireless connection in the new model of Redmi Buds 3 earbuds. In addition, the device supports AAC and SBC audio codecs. During my review and test, I did not reveal any special complaints about the signal quality. In addition, there was no interference or interruptions in the sound even at 10 meters from the signal source.
In this case, earbuds are connected in a very simple and standard way. But of course, do not forget to remove all stickers from the earbud housing before connecting. Otherwise, you will not be able to connect to any device. After the first pairing, the next one will always be done automatically.
If we talk about latency, it was minimal even in games and was in the range from 150 to 220 ms. But I was quite comfortable playing PUBG Mobile and did not feel much discomfort at the same time. But while watching videos on Youtube, I did not notice any delay at all.
As for touch controls? Everything here was very good, the touch panel worked very adequately and I did not reveal any accidental clicks during the full review of Redmi Buds 3.
- If you hold down for 1.5 seconds, play or pause is made on any of the earbud channels.
- Double tap toggles the track forward and backward depending on the earbud channel.
Yes, the functionality is not great and here I did not find the volume control function. But there are proximity sensors on the body of the device.
Sound and microphone quality
Each earbud was equipped with a 12mm driver and a QCC 3040 chipset. So this tells us that it will be a pleasure to use the earbuds in terms of sound quality. Let’s check it out, is everything so good in practice?
First of all, I want to highlight that there was enough headroom in terms of volume. Even in noisy places, the volume was acceptable.
As for the low frequency range? Don’t forget that Redmi Buds 3 are semi in-ear earbuds. And as you may know, any model of in-ear earbuds will not have very expressive low frequencies, especially when we talk about bass.
Yes, bass is not a strong point in the new TWS earbud model from Redmi. But the mid and high frequencies played surprisingly very well, considering their cost. At the same time, the detailing of musical instruments was at a height, as was the vocalist’s voice.
In general, the sound quality of the new version of Redmi Buds 3 was very good. But do not forget that these are budget earbuds and perhaps such a model will not really stand out with sound quality when compared with in-ear vacuum earbuds.
Now let’s talk about the microphone and its performance. Since the device received two built-in microphones, the earbuds were designed for calls. In practice, the quality of the microphone has also had a positive impact. In noisy places, my voice was well heard by the interlocutors.
Battery and run time
After analyzing all the information of the Redmi Buds 3 earbuds, I never found out how much battery capacity was built into the device. But my guess is that the earbuds use a 35mAh battery, and the case uses up to 300mAh.
How did the earbuds perform during my in-depth review? After several days of testing, I observed that a full battery charge in the headphones at 75% volume was enough for 4 hours and 35 minutes of use. At the same time, the charging case was able to recharge the earbuds about 3 times and the total battery life was up to 18-19 hours.
At the same time, a full charge through the Type-C connection was about 2 hours. But the bonus is the presence of fast charging, which in 10 minutes can provide 1.5 hours of listening to music.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
Redmi Buds 3 are versatile earbuds that will be useful for everyday wear and even light exercise.
On the positive side, it is worth highlighting that the device has a high-quality assembly. But the glossy plastic used is not the best solution on the part of the manufacturer Redmi.
On the other hand, the earbuds were very lightweight and comfortable to wear. Therefore, I could wear them for hours without taking them off, while my ears did not get tired of discomfort at all.
As for the disadvantages, I cannot say that the device received a lot of them, since it is worth considering their initial low cost. But the main thing I can highlight is that there is no volume control in the touch control. I would also like to get a little more bass.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Now you can order and purchase Redmi Buds 3 TWS earbuds at a very favorable price for only $32.59 with a 20% discount.
Considering all its features and disadvantages, I liked the new version of the earbuds from Redmi. That being said, for the Redmi brand, the Buds 3 version is the first in the semi in-ear earbud category.
