Based on the technical specifications, the smartphone was equipped with a decent mid-budget Helio G85 processor with 4 and 64 GB of memory. In addition, the device has a 6.5-inch IPS screen with HD + resolution.

Unboxing and packaging

The new model of the smartphone Realme Narzo 30A comes in a bright blue package. On the front, the name of the company and model is located. The dimensions of the packaging itself were typical, as with most smartphones in this price range.

At the same time, I found the following components inside the package, such as an additional envelope with various documentation and a needle for a SIM tray. But I can single out a disadvantage – this is the lack of a protective silicone case.

Slightly below is the smartphone itself, which was neatly packed in a protective shipping film. The package also includes a Type-C format charging cable and an 18W power adapter.

In general, the package bundle turned out to be very budgetary and this is not at all strange, since the device also has a budget pricing policy. Ok, now let’s find out the main design features of the smartphone and talk about the quality of performance.

Design, build quality and materials

It seems to me alone that Realme produces smartphones according to the same template. For example, if you look at the various models, it is easy to see that these devices use similar dimensions, identical screen sizes, and many other similar design features. This is not surprising, since we are considering a budget device and it would be rationally expensive to produce new models according to the new template.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

As for the new model of the device Realme Narzo 30A, it received the following dimensions – it is 164.5 x 75.9 x 9.8 mm and the smartphone weighs about 205 grams. Therefore, to call the Narzo 30A smartphone compact I will not turn my tongue at all. But during my testing, I did not have any particular difficulties with wearing and transporting.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

There are two colors to choose from – black and blue. I have a smartphone in blue, it really looks more youthful than ordinary and strict black.

Also, if you look at the back of the case, you can see an interesting iridescent pattern, which has been divided into two parts. In addition, the body of the smartphone was made of plastic, and where the drawing is used, the plastic received a corrugated surface. So you don’t have to worry about fingerprints. Although I would buy a protective case so that the body of the smartphone does not scratch much.

In addition, on the back of the Narzo 30A smartphone, there is a fingerprint scanner and a module of two cameras and an LED flash. But the brand logo itself was located in a not very traditional place, under the camera modules.

At the same time, if we talk about the build quality, then I did not reveal any special complaints during my testing. The device received a good design, even though the case was made of plastic. In addition, the buttons pressed smoothly and had good responsiveness.

On the right side of the device, there is a power button and a volume rocker. But on the left side, there is a slot for dual nano SIM cards and one microSD memory card. I am very glad that the manufacturer did not use a combo slot in this device model.

Meanwhile, on the bottom edge of the Narzo 30A smartphone, you can find – Type-C connection, speaker, microphone hole and headphone jack. The speaker sound quality was not the worst for a budget device. That is, the maximum volume was sufficient for everyday use. But there was practically no bass and the high frequencies emitted slightly annoying creaks at the maximum volume level.

Okay, I figured out the appearance and design of the new generation of budget smartphones from Realme. Now I propose to find out the strengths and weaknesses of the screen.

Screen quality and its main features

The front of the case of the Realme Narzo 30A smartphone uses a 6.5-inch IPS screen. Its resolution was only HD+, but this can be both positive and negative.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

If we consider the resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels from the positive side, then you can guess that the device will be able to work longer on a single battery charge. Also, the smartphone will be twice less loaded by the processor, since the graphics accelerator will process information in half.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

But the disadvantage of HD resolution is the low pixel density per inch, which was only 270 PPI. Therefore, upon closer inspection of the screen, you will be able to see individual pixels. But I think this is not a problem, since most users will not even notice these pixels, since the device is usually used at arm’s length.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

As for the maximum brightness value, it was within 570 nits. This is not very much, so when using your smartphone in bright and sunny weather, you will have difficulties with readability. If you look at the bezels around the screen, it’s easy to see that the lower chin of the device is quite large. And on top, there is an antiquated teardrop shape for the selfie camera.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

In general, the quality of the screen, as for an inexpensive smartphone, is very good. I especially liked the transmitted picture, color rendition and even wide viewing angles.

Performance, benchmarks, games and OS

Since the Realme Narzo 30A smartphone is a budget one, the processor used will not be a flagship one either. But I cannot say that the device uses the most outdated chipset. Here the manufacturer has installed a 12 nanometer processor MediaTek Helio G85. It is based on two powerful Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and six energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz.

If you look at the benchmark tests, then in the most popular test AnTuTu, the smartphone scored about 202 thousand points. This is a really good result for a budget device. At the same time, the smartphone warmed up during the test to 38 degrees Celsius. You can see other benchmark tests in the album below.

The video accelerator Mali-G52 MC2 is responsible for the graphics. Perhaps this chipset is not the most powerful, but as my practice has shown, run any heavy games, including Genshin Impact, without any problems. At the same time, during the gaming session, the device did not heat up much and had a standard operating temperature.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

I have a version of a Realme Narzo 30A smartphone with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Initially out of the box, the smartphone had 50 GB of free memory. If it is not enough or not enough for you, then you can easily use a separate slot for a memory card.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

But the wireless connections on the device model from the Realme company turned out to be very simple. For example, a smartphone uses a dual-band Wi-Fi module, Bluetooth 5.0 version, and GPS. But the main drawback is the lack of an NFC module for contactless payments.

This is a common problem, as is the case with most budget devices. As you may know, even a $ 100 rugged smartphone will have an NFC module, but for some reason standard devices do not have this module in their design.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

I was a little surprised, as the Realme Narzo 30A smartphone model is one of the most recent devices on the mobile market. But the manufacturer decided to use an outdated version of the Android 10 operating system on it. At the same time, the Realme UI also received the first generation. Although before that I used smartphones with the second generation of the interface.

But despite this shortcoming, I hope that in the future the Narzo 30A device will receive its updates and will use Android 11 generation. During my testing, the smartphone worked without any particular complaints, all functions worked out quickly and without any questions.

Camera and sample photos

The main camera module received two sensors, where the main one was 13-megapixel, and the additional one was 2-megapixel. In fact, the second camera module is used only for bokeh mode.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

But as practice has shown, the main sensor can blur the background itself thanks to the software. Therefore, here we can say the main task is performed by only one sensor with a 13-megapixel resolution.

You can see examples of photos below. If in the daytime the quality of the photos was more or less good. But in low light, the image quality fell for the worse.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

On the front of the device, you can find an 8-megapixel camera module. It showed itself in the same way as the main camera module.

At the same time, in the camera application, you can find night mode, video, photo, portrait and others. There are no such modes as macro or ultra wide here. And the maximum video resolution, both on the main and on the front camera module, was Full HD and 30 frames per second.

Battery and run time

The main feature of the new model of the Realme Narzo 30A smartphone is its autonomous operation. Since a non-removable battery with a capacity of 6000 mAh is used inside the body of the device.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

This capacity will be quite enough for active use of the device for 2 days. This is a very solid indicator, besides this, considering that only HD+ resolution is used on board the smartphone. Then the consumed energy will be very insignificant.

But full charging of a Narzo 30A smartphone via Type-C connection and 18W power adapter took me up to 2 hours.

Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons

After in-depth testing of the new budget model of the Realme Narzo 30A device, I was left with a good impression.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

On the positive side, I can highlight the presence of a large 6.5-inch IPS screen with good color reproduction. I also liked the performance thanks to the decent Helio G85 processor.

The device also stands out for its good functionality of features. For example, there is a separate slot for a memory card and a 3.5 mm headphone jack on board the device. But the most important advantage of the device is its large battery capacity of 6000 mAh with fast charging.

Realme Narzo 30A Review: Inexpensive Smartphone Helio G85 and 6000mAh

In addition, there were some drawbacks. But do not be surprised, since this is a budget smartphone model and negative points will be present here. For example, the screen resolution of the device was only HD+, and I also did not like the presence of an outdated Android 10 OS. Well, the last drawback for me is not the best image quality of the main and front cameras.

Price and where to buy cheaper?

Despite its shortcomings, I definitely liked the new smartphone model from Realme, especially its cost.

For example, at the time of this writing, you can purchase a Realme Narzo 30A device at a low price for just $130.20 with a 26% discount.
