Realme C3 Review: Inexpensive Phone with Helio G70 and NFC

About a month ago, Realme introduced a budget gaming smartphone, which got the name Realme C3.

For an adequate price tag of about $ 169, you get a rather interesting smartphone with good features.

For example, I can attribute to the main specs – this is a large 6.5-inch IPS screen, a powerful Helio G70 processor and a large battery capacity of 5000 mAh.

Will the new model be able to overtake smartphones from the Redmi brand? I will definitely compare the main competitors of the new C3, and also talk about the main features and disadvantages.

Realme C3: Unboxing

The smartphone comes in a bright yellow box, where on the front there is the name of the model and company. On the backside of the box are the main features and a sticker that says the device is made in India.

You may also notice that I have a version with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.

Inside the box, an envelope with a user manual and a needle for the SIM tray meet me. Usually, in such an envelope, there is a standard protective silicone case. But in the complete set of Realme C3, it is not provided.

A little lower is a smartphone in a protective film, a 10 W power adapter and a Micro USB cable. I was a little disappointed with the old Micro USB cable, since installing a Type-C port is not much more expensive.

Realme C3: Design

As for the budget segment, expect that Realme C3 will receive premium materials is not worth it.

But do not immediately be disappointed, because the back panel received a very attractive plastic panel. It has a beautiful relief pattern, it is not easily soiled and does not leave fingerprints. In addition, plastic shimmers very beautifully in the sun.

Here you can see the main camera with three modules and an LED flash. In the center, there is a typical round fingerprint scanner. It works very quickly and accurately, I had no questions for him.

But another way of protection – face recognition by the front camera – did not cause me positive feelings. It does not always work not fast, so I do not recommend you recommend it.

A large 6.5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of HD + or 720 x 1560 pixels was installed on the front side. The screen is a little unusual, it is a little elongated, as it received an aspect ratio of 20: 9.

There is also a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective glass and an oleophobic coating. In addition, I advise you to buy an additional protective glass.

At the top of the screen, there is a small mini waterdrop notch for the front camera. As for the 2020 modular year, it looks outdated, but for the budget segment, it is a minor minus.

The screen quality is not the cleanest, since the screen resolution is not high, and the screen size is large. Therefore, the text is a little grainy, but you need to look very closely at it. For everyday use, the screen has good colors, viewing angles and high brightness.

At the ends are the main control buttons. The power button is on the right side, and the volume rocker is on the left. Convenient location, but many manufacturers avoid this solution. Also on the left side, there is a slot for dual nano-SIM cards and a separate place for a memory card.

The bottom end received a 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones, a microphone, speaker and Micro USB port. The sound quality of the main speaker is not the best, but it is quite loud, so you definitely will not miss an important notice.

In the hand, the smartphone is not bad, but controlling with one hand will be problematic. The dimensions of Realme C3 were 164.4 x 75 x 9 mm and weight 195 grams.

Realme C3: Performance and Software

The most important feature of the new Realme C3 was the new Helio G70 processor from the Mediatek company. It runs on 12-nanometer technology and has eight cores. Namely, these are two cores of 2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 and six cores of 1.7 GHz Cortex-A55.

In addition, a new graphics processor was installed in the device – Mali-G52 2EEMC2. Its work is at an excellent level, now you can run absolutely any game on medium graphics settings.

The performance of the Helio G70 processor can be compared with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 series. Below I will leave the tests of various benchmarks and you will see for yourself.

For me, an unusual solution from Realme was the use of an NFC module. For example, in the configuration of 32GB of memory this module does not exist, but already in the 64GB version – NFC is present. I have a version with NFC and it works without any problems.

I also have 4 GB of RAM on board of smartphones. This memory is enough for everyday multitasking.

Manages a budget smartphone Realme C3 running Android 10.0 and has a user realme UI 1.0.

From the box, the smartphone has a minimum number of pre-installed applications, but the most important ones are available. For example, Google services, such as YouTube, Play Store, and others.

You can also pay attention to the presence of Bluetooth 5.0, but at the same time, the Wi-Fi network has only 2.4 GHz frequencies. GPS finds your location quickly thanks to A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS.

Realme C3: Camera

On the back of the smartphone is the main camera with three modules. The main sensor received a 12-megapixel resolution with f/1.8 aperture. The other two modules have a 2-megapixel module. They are designed for bokeh and macro shots.

On the front side, there is a front camera with a 5-megapixel resolution with f/2.4 aperture. In the dark, an imitation of a flash is triggered due to a white screen.

The quality of the pictures for its class is not bad, but in the dark, you can’t expect perfect pictures. Therefore, the camera at Realme C3 is not a strong way.

Realme C3: Battery

But another main feature of Realme C3 is the presence of a large battery capacity of 5000 mAh. As practice has shown, with everyday use, a smartphone can work for about 2-3 days on a single charge. The battery life is really not bad.

At the same time, there is a slight disappointment – this is a 10W power adapter and there is no fast charging device on board. The charging time from 0 to 100% will be about 4 hours.

Realme C3: Conclusion and Reviews

Of course, Realme C3 will not be easy, since there are more attractive devices on the mobile market, for example, Redmi Note 8.

Realme C3 Review: Inexpensive Phone with Helio G70 and NFC

The main force for the budget model C3 is a good performance, the latest version of the software with NFC support and good battery life.

From the point of view of the quality of the camera, I still have doubts, since the pictures, even in cloudy weather, are not the most attractive. Also, the presence of a Micro USB port does not cause great joy.

Realme C3: Price and Where to buy cheaper?

Now you can buy Realme C3 at a low price of about $169.90. But the price is not the most attractive, as the main competitor of Redmi Note 8 can be purchased for $149.

Although the Realme C3 model received a modern NFC module, which for many will be very relevant.
