Realme does not want to dwell on the only single model of wireless earbuds that I have tested before – this is Realme Air Buds. The other day I received a new version of TWS earbuds for testing, which are called Realme Buds Q.
In this article, I will tell my opinion about the new budget earbuds, sound quality, and microphone. Believe me, there is something to tell about since they really hooked me from a positive point of view.
If the first model of Realme Air Buds was with a price tag of about $60, then Realme Buds Q can be attributed to the budget category. The price of the new earbuds is about $25. That is, TWS earbuds are direct competitors of Redmi AirDots or Haylou GT2.
But if you look at the specifications, then Buds Q will win in everything. For example, a 10 mm dynamic driver is used here, and the earbuds also have a very ergonomic design. In addition, it can be noted that there is an application on the smartphone to configure a large number of functions. Such as controlling the sensor or turning on the game mode.
The manufacturer calls the Realme Buds Q earbuds gaming, is this really so? Let’s find out all the nuances in a detailed and complete review.
Realme Buds Q: Specifications
|Realme Buds Q:||Specs|
|Driver unit:||10 mm Dynamic|
|Bluetooth protocol:||AAC and SBC|
Many of you already know that Realme uses the yellow color of the box. It can be found not only in the category of smartphones and smartwatches but also in wireless earbuds.
A small box met me, where on the front part you can notice a drawing of earbuds, the name of the model. But on the reverse side, there is a list of technical specifications and main features. All the inscriptions are in Chinese, so it’s rather difficult to understand.
Inside the box, I found a charging box with earbuds inside, a Micro USB cable, a set of silicone ear tips, and instructions. The instruction itself is in Chinese, but there is a QR code through which you can install the realme Link mobile application.
Although a 10 mm dynamic driver is used inside the Realme Buds Q earbuds, the size and weight of the earbuds is insignificant. For example, each earbud weighs about 3.8 grams.
On this basis, wearing earbuds is very comfortable. They sit well in the ears and wearing them for a long time will not be a problem. They are also suitable for women or who have small ears. In addition, the earbud case does not stick out of the ears and they look good from the side.
Realme Buds Q is made of matte plastic, but elements from glossy plastic are also present. In quality, it is much more pleasant and better than the same Redmi AirDots. Build quality is also at a decent level, given its low cost.
On the outside of the earbuds, there is a touch control panel that works well and accurately. There is also a microphone hole.
The interior of the new Realme earbuds received two contact connections and a channel designation.
I can also note that the Realme Buds Q earbuds received protection against the water of the IPX4 standard. Therefore, you can not be afraid of sweat or light rain. It is natural to immerse earbuds and a charging box in water.
If we talk about the charging box, it resembles the shape of sea pebbles. Boxing is made of matte plastic and the build quality is at a good level. The lid practically does not play and closes due to the magnetic connection.
On the front side, there is an LED indicator of work, and on the back, there is a MicroUSB port. One of the main disadvantages of the new Realme Buds Q earbuds is that there is a MicroUSB port, and not a modern Type-C.
In addition, I can say that the earbuds come in three colors – yellow, black, and white. So you guessed I have a black color on the review. Well, I figured out the look, but as for the quality of the connection?
Connection and Control
Like all TWS earbud models released in 2020, Realme Buds Q received a Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connection.
The manufacturer suggests using his proprietary application called realme Link. It is available for both Android and iOS devices. In the application itself, you can set the touch control functions to your taste.
But the most important function in the application is the activation of the game mode. Using this function, the headphones receive a very short delay time – about 119 ms. In practice, this is really felt and during the games, I did not hear any latency in the sound.
As for control, the functionality is not very wide:
- Double-tap – play, pause, take a phone call.
- Triple touch – next song or previous track.
- Hold for 2 seconds – activate or deactivate the game mode.
The first thing I want to pay attention to is in the high sound volume, thanks to the large 10 mm dynamic driver. Listening to 100% volume is almost impossible. During the test, I listened to music for about 70% and it was loud for me. Therefore, in a quiet place, the volume level below 40% will be enough.
In addition to high volume, the earbuds boast a very strong bass. Thus, the low frequencies sound good and I have no questions for them.
Mid and high frequencies sound just as good as for budget TWS earbuds. But I would like a little more detail. As for vocals and musical instruments, they sound straightforward and distinct.
The microphone quality is also at a decent level. In a quiet place, you can calmly talk with your interlocutor. But in noisy places will have to raise a little tone of voice.
Many of you already suspect that a 10 mm driver will consume more power than a 6 or even 8mm driver. Therefore, high battery life should not be expected.
Each Realme Buds Q earbud has a 40 mAh capacitive battery that can last about 4 hours at a volume level of 70%. There is also a charging box with a 400 mAh battery capacity. It will be able to recharge the earbuds several times and give a total battery life of about 20 hours.
As I said, the box is charged via a Micro USB connection and the charging time will not exceed 1.5 hours.
Conclusion and Reviews
Realme Buds Q is an almost perfect gaming earbud with minimal latency in games and with low price tags.
TWS earbuds also boast good sound, especially when it comes to the stock volume and bass. Build quality is at a decent level, and lightweight and size are well suited for many users, both for men and for girls.
Of the minuses, I can note – this is not a wide functional touch control and Micro USB port.
Price and Where to buy cheaper?
This model of Realme Buds Q earbuds is already officially sold and in China, you can buy them at a low price of $25.90 with a 43% discount.
I definitely liked the earbuds in terms of clear sound, the presence of a proprietary realme Link application, and many other features.
