Along with the release of the next generation of almost-gaming smartphone Realme GT NEO 2, Realme has unveiled its first ultra-thin laptop called Realme Book.
I managed to spend several days in a company with a new laptop model and today I will tell you my impressions of this device model. Like any gadget on this planet, the laptop from Realme has received both positive and negative sides.
Therefore, if you are interested in knowing not only the external features of a laptop, but also want to understand its features in practice, then you have come to the right place. In this article I will tell you not only about the main design features, but also I will conduct a complete and deep testing of the device.
As for the cost, while the device is available in India, Indonesia, that is, in the eastern countries. When this laptop model will officially go on sale in Europe or the USA, there is no exact information yet.
For the basic version of the Realme Book device, they ask for ₹ 44,999 or about $ 600 with an i3 processor and 8GB + 256GB memory. But the version with the i5 chipset and 8GB + 512GB memory will cost you ₹ 56,999 or $ 770.
In terms of technical features, the laptop stands out with a 14-inch screen with 2K resolution and an aspect ratio of 3: 2. The device also has an 11th generation Intel Core i3-1115G4 or i5-1135G7 processor.
In addition, the laptop received an all-aluminum case with interesting color options. At the same time, a three-level backlight was installed in the keyboard.
Also, an active cooling system with two powerful coolers is used inside the device case. The device also boasts high battery life thanks to a built-in 54 Wh battery and 65W fast charging.
Therefore, I propose to begin a full and in-depth testing of the new generation of a laptop from Realme, and my first inspection begins with unboxing and appearance.

Unboxing and packaging
A laptop from the Realme brand is delivered in the simplest white cardboard packaging. On the front side, you can find a drawing of the device with the name, but on the opposite side, there is information about the product and the company.
The quality of the packaging was good, but to be honest I would love to see some soft foam here. Unfortunately, the device was simply packed in a shipping film. At the same time, I note that the package came to me for review intact and without damage.
In addition to the laptop itself, I also found a short instruction manual, a Type-C charging cable and a 65W power adapter. In general, the equipment was typical and there was nothing superfluous here. As I understand it, this laptop model positions itself as a lightweight device for travel and business trips. Therefore, it is better to purchase a portable bag immediately from the first days of use.
Design, build quality and materials
There are two color options to choose from, these are gray and blue. If gray is already familiar to most users, then blue has a certain exclusivity and uniqueness. Usually in the laptop categories there is no choice of device color, as is the case with smartphones or headphones. But I’m incredibly happy that Realme offers a choice of blue or gray.
As for the dimensions, they were as follows: 307.2 x 229 x 15.5 mm. At the same time, the minimum thickness was around 14.9 mm. Indeed, the new Realme Book laptop model is quite thin. But the weight of the device was not higher than 1.38 kg.
On the outside of the laptop, you can find only the branded logo of the company, that is, its name is Realme. It should be noted that the body of the device was made of aluminum alloy. That is why it is so light and strong at other times. Also, I had no particular complaints about the build quality. All components were well assembled and even the hinges of the device’s screen opened smoothly and without extraneous sound.
The first test of the Realme Book laptop did not pass, it was to open the screen lid with one hand. This is not surprising, since most devices of even higher cost cannot cope with this task.
After opening the lid, I am happily greeted by a bright 14-inch screen. But I will tell you about its quality a little later. But the bezels at the screen were really insignificant, except for the bottom. On the bottom frame of the screen is another Realme logo, and on top you can see the front camera for video calls and conferences. At the same time, I cannot call a camera with a maximum resolution of 720p a strong point. But for family video calls, it will definitely not be superfluous.
If you look at the keyboard, it turned out to be quite good, and it was a pleasure to type messages or texts. For example, the keys were pressed smoothly and clearly, that is, the responsiveness of the keys was very good and the distance between the keys was 1.3 mm. In addition, the keyboard has a three-level backlight. Therefore, you will be able to use the laptop even in complete darkness and this is a big bonus.
I also liked the location of the power button with a built-in fingerprint scanner. Usually, many manufacturers install a power button in the keyboard, and I think this is not the right solution. But the fingerprint scanner will not be superfluous protection, moreover, it worked quickly and accurately.
I cannot single out any particular complaints about the touchpad, all functions worked properly and without any problems. I also note that the dimensions of the touchpad are about 124 x 78 mm.
At the bottom of the device, you can find one long and two short rubberized feet against slip and vibration. In addition, the device has special holes for the cooling system. Since the new Realme Book laptop model uses two coolers. But I’ll talk about temperature conditions a little later.
Also on the same edge, you can find two speakers on the left and right sides. At the same time, the sound quality was very good, as for its class of devices. The sound had a good headroom in terms of volume and there was a small but deep bass.
Ok, now let’s go over the side ends of the device. There will be slight differences between versions with an Intel Core i3 processor and an Intel Core i5 processor. For example, a device with an i3 chipset will receive only one USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 port and a headphone jack on the right side, and on the left side, there will be only two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports. C 3.2 Gen 2 will get one Thunderbolt 4 connection. Great, I figured out the appearance, now I propose to move on to the next section.
Screen and image quality
The new model of the Realme Book laptop received a small 14-inch screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels or is it 2K resolution. The device uses a standard IPS matrix on board and did not cause any particular complaints about its work.
But there is an interesting feature here, namely the aspect ratio of the screen. It was 3: 2 here, so the screen of the device looked a little square, and not elongated on the sides. This aspect ratio will be useful for working with text, programs and other work purposes. But the disadvantage of this aspect ratio is watching movies. From the bottom and top you will end up with rather large black frames.
The peak brightness was 400 nits, but the typical brightness was around 330 nits. Therefore, using the device outdoors will not be very comfortable. But indoors, the brightness of the screen was sufficient for most tasks.
If we talk about color reproduction, then I did not reveal any special complaints about colors. At the same time, the sRGB reading was 100%. The contrast of the screen was not the highest at around 1500: 1, but this is not surprising, since it uses a typical IPS matrix. This means that blacks will not be as deep as with OLED and AMOLED screens.
Performance, benchmarks, games and OS
As I said earlier, the Realme Book laptop can be selected in two versions. This is with an Intel Core i3-1115G4 or Intel i5-1135G7 processor, while both devices will have 11 generation chipsets from the Intel brand. I have a more advanced version, that is, Intel i5 and let me talk about it in more detail. This processor was built on four cores and received a clock speed of 3.8 GHz.
In terms of performance tests, the Realme Book device scored quite good in the benchmark tests. For example, in the GeekBench 5 test, the laptop scored 1266 points in the single-core test and 2932 in the multi-core test. You can also see other synthetic tests that I conducted with the new generation of laptop from Realme.
The Intel Iris Xe Graphics graphics accelerator is also paired with an Intel i5-1135G7 processor. Yes, you can run PUBG Mobile or Asphalt 9 without any problems, but the heavier games are difficult for you to play. Therefore, do not forget that this is a working device, not a gaming one. Thus, simple and uncomplicated games for the new generation of laptop will not be a problem, but this does not apply to more complex and modern games.
On board the device, you can find 8 GB of RAM on two LPDDR4x channels with a frequency of 4266 MHz and 512 GB of internal SSD memory. The disadvantage of this model is the fact that you will not be able to increase the amount of built-in memory in any way. But I was very pleased with the read and write speed on the new laptop model. For example, the read speed was 3100 MBps, and the write speed was about 1230 MBps. This is a very good result for a device of this class.
My version of the Realme Book laptop with an Intel i5 processor received a sixth generation dual band Wi-Fi module. Also here was a built-in Bluetooth 5.2 module. During my testing, I did not find any particular problems with the performance of these modules. Everything worked properly and quickly.
I also tested the device to play videos on YouTube. I chose a 4K video at 60 frames per second and I was completely satisfied with the result. Since the video played smoothly and had a smooth picture. I also launched several photo editing and video editing programs. So, the device also coped well with the tasks. Even with 4K video, I could edit without too many problems and not feel limited.
Now let’s talk about overheating and noise. In fact, the laptop model from Realme is not so bad. The device has always worked with two coolers and their work was sufficient even for serious tasks. For example, the laptop case was a little warm, but not hot, even when running multiple benchmark tests in a row. In games, I also didn’t notice much overheating. But the noise of the coolers did not bother me and it had a pleasant hissing sound.
Okay, the Realme Book handles day-to-day tasks well, but what about the user interface? A laptop is controlled on the Windows 10 Home operating system. But everyone can update the system to the new generation of Windows 11 for free. Applications from Microsoft Office 2019 Home & Student were already preinstalled in the user interface.
In general, managing the Windows operating system did not cause any particular problems for me. Since all tasks were opened quickly, I did not find any special freezes or problems.
Battery and run time
A 54 Wh battery was installed inside the laptop case. As for an ultra-thin device, this is a decent battery capacity. For example, the manufacturer promises about 11 hours of battery life with the screen on.
But in my practice, I never managed to achieve such a result. During my testing, the device could easily last about 6-7 hours with heavy use. Yes, if you reduce the brightness value and even the screen resolution to 1080p, then perhaps the laptop will work for about 9 hours.
On the other hand, a full charge with 65W of power can charge the device up to 50% in half an hour. At the same time, a full charge was about 1 hour and 35 minutes.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
The newly minted Realme Book laptop showed itself from a very positive side, but it was not without its drawbacks, but first, let’s talk about the advantages.
For example, on the positive side, I can single out the presence of high-quality assembly and good materials used in the manufacture. I also liked the presence of the blue color of the case. In general, the design parameters were very good.
Other than that, I can’t get past the 14-inch IPS screen with 2K resolution. The image quality and color reproduction were very good. Also, for everyday tasks, the performance of the laptop will be enough headlong.
On the plus side, I can highlight a good and responsive keyboard with three-level backlighting.
But the disadvantages of the laptop model can be attributed to this lack of useful ports and connections. That is, it will definitely be necessary to purchase a USB hub for the device. I also did not like the brightness of the screen at 400 nits and the not particularly high battery life.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
As I said, the official sale of the new Realme Book laptop model is not yet available worldwide. Therefore, the device can only be purchased in eastern countries such as India and others.
Now the price for the version of Realme Book with an i3 processor and 8GB + 256GB memory will cost you $600. But the model with the i5 chipset and 8GB + 512GB will cost about $770.
