Surprisingly screwed up: Even before the official presentation of the Galaxy J5 (2017) and Galaxy J7 (2017), both smartphones are dipped in a Russian hands-on video. With the new edition, Samsung brings more performance and a more refined design into its entry-level class.
Just under two weeks ago we reported on the Galaxy J5 (2017) and the Galaxy J7 (2017), which, according to their name, represent a 2017 refresh for Samsung’s low-cost J-series. While both model brothers were only seen on poorly resolved pictures, the Galaxy J5 (2017) and Galaxy J7 (2017) are now showing in moving pictures.
From Russia, we get two hands-on videos, which allow a detailed look at the new design of the two entry-level smartphones. The most noticeable feature of the rear side, which is now made of metal, is the two camera strips on the top and bottom, which correspond to a wide open U. In contrast to previous Samsung smartphones, the camera module has also been redesigned and placed image sensor and flashlight now, instead of next to each other. Pleasingly, the camera module also seems to be flat with the housing back, so that this ugly design feature of former Samsung smartphones was finally shelved.
There is not much new news on the front of the two low-end smartphones, at least in optical terms. Because technically, Samsung appreciates the Galaxy J5 (2017) and Galaxy J5 (2017) noticeably and donated both devices a fingerprint scanner in the Home button.
Contradictory information about the processor
Interestingly, the Galaxy J5 (2017) according to Hands-On-Video of the Exynos 7570 is driven. Older reports, however, spoke of the Octa-core chip Exynos 7870, which is also to be used in the Galaxy J7 (2017). It is here that the official presentation of the new J-series will show what information is right now.
On the other hand, the other specifications are the same: The Galaxy J5 (2017) is supposed to have a 5.2-inch display based on the Super AMOLED technology with 720p resolution and a 3000 mAh battery on board. The Galaxy J7 (2017) is about 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. Both devices also run on Android 7.0 nougat.
Do sales start in June?
It is still unclear when Samsung will officially introduce the Galaxy J5 (2017) and Galaxy J7 (2017). However, the hands-on videos are not likely to last very long. Previous reports spoke at this point in June. The Galaxy J5 (2017) is priced at 279 euros, the better equipped Galaxy J7 (2017) with 339 euros.
