Nokia is not our most frequent guest, such as Xiaomi or other Chinese mobile device manufacturers. Nokia is trying to produce one or two models a year but guarantees 100% quality. This year, the company released two new models in its lineup – Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2.
If you have not read our reviews of previous models, such as the Nokia 7 and Nokia 7.1, then I will leave links here.
In 2018, the manufacturer showed really good and reliable devices, but what can be expected at the end of 2019? In this article, I would like to tell my opinion about the new model called Nokia 7.2.
Now you can buy a Nokia 7.2 smartphone at a good and favorable price for only $325.
The technical stuffing is not weak and the main features are a 6.3-inch IPS screen, a Snapdragon 660 processor, 4/64 GB of memory, the main camera with 48 megapixels, and a battery with a capacity of 3500 mAh.
I really like smartphones from Nokia, but as you can see, their price is quite high and it’s currently difficult for the manufacturer to compete with brands such as Redmi, Realme, Honor and other companies.

Nokia 7.2: Unboxing
To me for a test, I got a pretty typical box, both in size and in appearance.
On the front, I see a sketch of the smartphone, two hands and the name of the model. On the back of the box are the main technical specifications.
Inside the box, I found the smartphone itself in a protective transport film. I also found the following accessories, such as a SIM card needle, Type-C cable, 10W power adapter, documentation, and headphones.
Of course, I would like to get an additional protective case, but it is not included. But I was glad to see the headphones inside the box. The quality of the materials is at a good level and I have no complaints.
Nokia 7.2: Design
Despite the fact that the Nokia 7.2 device was released in 2019, but the design elements have remained since 2018, at least the front of the device.
As you can see, the front part has a large screen with a waterdrop notch under the selfie camera. The frames around the screen are not very thin, especially if you look at the bottom of the front panel, where the name of the manufacturer Nokia.
Above the front camera are a conversational speaker and various sensors, such as lights and proximity.
The back panel is already made more interesting, I see a round platform on which the main camera with three sensors and an LED flash are located. Naturally, the Zeiss camera also has a logo in the center.
A fingerprint sensor was installed just below the camera module. It works quickly and most importantly – for sure, so I have no questions for it. But the location, I would like to get others, for example, on the side face.
The front and back surfaces are made of Gorilla Glass 3 safety glass, and the side faces are made of plastic. I would like to remind you that on Redmi Note 8, which we tested a couple of days ago, the protective glass is already the fifth generation of Gorilla Glass 5.
By control, on the right side, there is a volume rocker and a power button.
On the opposite side of the Nokia 7.2 is another button to activate Google Assistant. As I later discovered, it cannot be replaced with another function. A little higher there is a hybrid slot for SIM cards and a memory card.
The lower part received the main speaker, Type-C speaker for charging and a microphone. But on the upper edge, I saw a 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones and a noise-canceling microphone.
Among the shortcomings, I want to note that the round module of the main camera sticks out quite a lot. Since there is no protective cover in the kit, so you have to buy an additional protective cover.
Like previous models, the new Nokia 7.2 smartphone looks aesthetically pleasing and austere like German car designs. I have no questions about the build quality, the buttons have a nice touch with good elasticity, and the gaps are correct and accurate.
Nokia 7.2: Screen
Despite the fact that Nokia 7.2 received an IPS LCD screen with Full HD + resolution or 1080 x 2280 pixels, but it looks very interesting. Since the screen technology uses HDR10 and the Always-on function of the screen is present, as on AMOLED screens.
The aspect ratio was 19: 9, the pixel density was approximately 400 ppi and the screen area on the front panel was 82.4%.
The brightness has a decent level, which has approximately 585 nits, so you will not have problems using it in sunny weather.
Nokia calls its screens PureDisplay, which is characterized by good contrast, detail and the presence of vibrant colors.
Nokia 7.2: Performance and Software
A Qualcomm processor called Snapdragon 660 was installed inside the Nokia 7.2 case. This is a good and powerful processor, but one drawback is that it is already outdated since it was released about two years ago. Why isn’t Nokia using new processors like Snapdragon 665, Snapdragon 710 and others? If you know to write a comment below.
By the amount of memory, the device comes with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal memory. You will also have the opportunity to install a memory card, but instead of one nano-SIM card.
The Adreno 512 GPU does its job well. Of course, you will not be able to play heavy games at maximum graphics settings, but at medium settings – smoothly and without delay.
If you are interested in benchmarks from Nokia 7.2, then I will leave the results of synthetic tests below.
Android One is a clean operating system that is already typical of Nokia smartphones. Not surprisingly, it can also be seen on Nokia 7.2, the operating system version is Android 9.0.
Of course, Android One is a big plus, as the user will be able to receive the first updates. The user interface works quickly and without any problems, during testing, I did not find any delays and applications opened quickly.
Undoubtedly, the user interface is one of the main advantages of the lineup of smartphones from Nokia. The settings of the software are simple, but they have good and great functionality.
Nokia 7.2: Sound and Connectivity
Like almost any modern smartphone, the main speaker on the Nokia 7.2 is installed at the bottom of the case. The sound quality is decent, as it has good bass and dynamic sound.
I have no complaints about the volume of the speakers, you will hear any call or message for sure, even in noisy places.
Another plus is the presence of a 3.5 mm audio jack, so you can use your favorite headphones to listen to music or watch movies.
As I mentioned, the Nokia 7.2 device received a hybrid slot and dual nano-SIM cards have a 4G LTE network. Communication is stable and during testing, I did not have interruptions or disconnections. The interlocutors heard me perfectly, so I myself did.
Wireless on Nokia received a dual connection Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 5.0. Wi-Fi standard speed, the test results can be seen below.
Location is quickly and accurately detected thanks to A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, and BDS. The position accuracy is up to 5 meters, and the number of satellites found is more than 20.
Nokia 7.2: Camera
First, I would like to talk about the technical specifications of the main camera Nokia 7.2. At the core are three sensors, where the main 48-megapixel Quad Bayer sensor with f/1.8 aperture. The second 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture for ultra-wide shots. The latest 5-megapixel module with the same aperture as the second camera sensor.
The front camera has a 20-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.
The main feature of the camera is the presence of Zeiss optics, which has long been cooperating with Nokia. The result of working together on the face, as daytime photos have a good color gamut with precise detail.
The ultra-wide shots were average, as the angles are a bit blurry. Of course, with a small resolution sensor to achieve a high result is very difficult.
Bokeh shots blur the background without any special defects and the photo looks pretty realistic.
Nokia 7.2: Battery
You should not expect a large battery capacity of more than 4000 mAh, as Nokia models have modest performance and our hero has a battery capacity of 3500 mAh.
According to the results of the battery test on Nokia 7.2, I was pleasantly surprised, since the total battery life at maximum brightness for watching movies on Youtube was approximately 9.5 hours. I believe that the Android One user interface has good optimization, so the device’s operating time will be up to about 2 days with an average load mode.
A full charge of the smartphone will be 2 hours, even for a small battery capacity – this is not the best indicator. The power adapter has only 10 watts of power and, as for a modern device, it is very small.
Nokia 7.2: Conclusions and Reviews
The new model of the Nokia 7.2 smartphone has proven itself with both positive and negative sides.
The appearance and design of the device are made in the classic style of Nokia. I especially liked the main camera module with a round island on the back. The glass case gives a business and image appearance.
Although the performance has an outdated Snapdragon 660 processor, it works stably and quickly, as for its class device.
Another plus is the clean Android One software and a 48MP camera module with good quality photos.
Of the minus, I can attribute this to a slow charge of 10 watts, a small battery capacity, a rather high price.
Nokia 7.2: Price and where to buy cheaper?
Now you can buy a Nokia 7.2 smartphone at a low price for just $325.48 with a good discount.
Given its price, it is difficult for me to recommend a smartphone for purchase, since the alternative may be Redmi Note 8 and other devices from Chinese manufacturers. But I believe that if you want to support the activities of Nokia, then it’s worth a bit to overpay for the image appearance.
