Bixby as a product: According to new patents, Samsung could work on a competitor for Amazon Echo and Google Home. There is also news on an upcoming touch smartphone.
Digital assistants conquer the physical world more and more. What started as an app on the smartphone penetrates our living room. Google Home and Amazon echoed it – and also Apple works in all probability on a Siri speaker. According to new patents, Samsung could soon throw his hat into the ring.
Bixby in the living room
Samsung has just introduced its own digital assistant Bixby. Users of the Galaxy S8 have already preinstalled it. However, it can only be used at present in South Korea. Currently, the wizard understands language commands, but can not answer them yet.
But Bixby could soon come to us in physical form. The US Patent Office has now granted the company a corresponding design patent. Here is generally speaking an “audio device”. A display can also be seen on the comparatively simple drawings, next to a tripod.
With which functions the Bixby device can offer, is now completely unclear. If Samsung is to come on the market with such a product, it will probably have the usual features of assistants and, for example, know the current weather or play music.
New touch patent granted
In addition to the Bixby patent, Samsung has also received a design patent for an upcoming note. The pictures show that this is an extremely flat device. It is rounded on one side. More can not be said at this time, unfortunately, but the pictures do not give much.
Also to the material or possible specifications, there is at present no information. It is, however, unlikely that this is the Grade 8, which is due to be released in autumn.
Note 7 reissue comes
Before the new Note 8 is presented, the note 7R comes into the trade in June – at least in South Korea. Samsung released a “Refurbished” version of Note 7 under the name Note 7R. It should come for the account of 570 euro in the trade and Android 7.0 ex-factory have with it.
