Meizu, which hasn’t been the most popular lately, has tried to release a new model of wireless earbuds. Therefore, today I want to tell you about a new version of the device, which is called Meizu MBLU Blus.
The new generation of TWS earbuds has been jointly developed by two companies, Meizu and its subsidiary MBLU. Therefore, if you are interested in knowing what earbuds are capable of, then I suggest that you familiarize yourself with today’s review in full and in detail.
In addition to analyzing the technical features of the device, I will also share with you my experience of use. You can also learn about the comfort of wearing, the quality of the touch panel, sound and even the microphone.
As for the cost, today, the manufacturer asks for a fairly modest amount of money for the MBLU Blus earbuds. That is, now you are able to purchase a Meizu MBLU Blus device for only $33.
What do you think can be expected from budget TWS earbuds? First of all, the device received the latest generation of Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connection. The earbuds also use features such as active noise cancellation, a dual microphone, and even wireless charging.
At the same time, the size of the driver was 12 mm and, as for in-ear vacuum earbuds, this is a very large driver size. I can also highlight the presence of a slight protection against water under the IPX4 standard.
Okay, now let’s find out about the main positive and negative aspects of the updated generation of TWS earbuds. Therefore, I want to start my full and in-depth review with unboxing and appearance.
Meizu MBLU Blus: Specifications

Unboxing and packaging
The earbuds are delivered in the most ordinary white packaging, where on the front there is a drawing with earbuds and a charging case. At the same time, I will emphasize that the density of the cardboard was good and the device came to me for a test without damage.
Of the minuses, I can note that my earbuds were created for the Chinese market. Therefore, the packaging and instructions were only in Chinese and English.
Inside the package, I found the following components, such as a charging case with earbuds. There was also a set of two pairs of additional silicone ear tips.
But the charging cable was not included in the package, and this is a bit strange, as for the category of wireless earbuds. It’s good that the charging connection is standard Type-C and such a cable can be found on any modern smartphone.
Design, build quality and materials
A new generation of Meizu MBLU Blus wireless earbuds is delivered in a minimum number of colors. And to be more precise, only one color is available and this is in white. But at the official store you can buy various colored silicone cases for the case. I think several options will not be superfluous to keep your case bright and remain in its original form.
As for the earbuds, the device was made of matte glossy plastic. But on the outside of the leg, a matte white plastic was used. At the same time, the build quality was good and did not have extraneous squeaks and sounds while wearing. In addition, I liked that the manufacturer has equipped the MBLU earbuds with water protection under the IPX4 standard.
If we talk about the comfort of wearing, the device sits pretty well in the ear canal. Also, the weight of one earbud was only 4.8 grams and this only had a positive effect while wearing it. But do not forget that these are not in-ear earbuds, but vacuum in-ear earbuds with ear tips. Therefore, from time to time, your ears will require you to rest and take a break.
During sports, I also had no particular complaints about the Meizu MBLU Blus wireless earbuds. I could easily run my rate in the stadium and use them while exercising in the gym. In addition to sports, earbuds will be a good companion during everyday activities. For example, cleaning, cooking, watching videos and other activities.
On the outside of the earbud case, there is a touchscreen control panel with an LED notification indicator. Also on the same edge there are holes for the microphone. In fact, the manufacturer claims to have two microphones on each earbud. But I’ll talk about the quality of the microphone a little later.
Meanwhile, two charging contacts were installed on the inside and there are silicone ear tips. In addition, the ear tips received special grooves and with their help they will hold very tightly and securely.
Now I propose to learn about the design features of the charging case. It was made of white, but already completely matte plastic. On the cover itself, there is the MBLU logo. At the same time, the front part of the charging case received an LED indicator. But on the back, there is a Type-C charging connection. In addition, the charging case can be charged via wireless charging.
As for the assembly, I also had no particular complaints. There was practically no backlash at the lid. But in the open position, the lid could not be held and at any inopportune moment it could easily close. Between the earbud seats in the case, there is a pairing button.
But the upper part of the inner side of the lid had a special silicone seal. Therefore, the earbuds in the case did not emit any extraneous sounds, even during shaking.
Connection, latency and touch control
For the wireless connection in the new model of Meizu MBLU Blus earbuds, Bluetooth connection with version 5.2 is responsible. Also onboard, the device has the following codecs such as AAC and SBC. As for the quality of the connection, during my testing I had no particular complaints. For example, the signal was well caught through two walls and at a distance of up to 10 meters.
As for the connection, the device is connected in the usual way. When connecting for the first time, you need to go to the Bluetooth settings on your mobile device and select the model of the MBLU Blus earbuds. Subsequent connection will be automatic when you open the lid of the charging box.
If we talk about the delay, then it is here and it is quite significant. Since there is no game mode here, therefore, the delay was not only in games, but even when watching videos on YouTube. Usually, though, I have had no problem watching YouTube videos with other TWS earbuds.
Now let’s talk about the touchpad and basic control functions.
Double-tapping plays and pauses the track, and with this feature you can receive phone calls.
Triple-tap switches tracks forward or backward, depending on the earbud channel.
Holding down any of the earbuds for a few seconds switches modes from normal to transparent or active noise cancellation.
Sound and microphone quality
A 12mm dynamic driver was installed on the Meizu MBLU Blus wireless earbuds. Considering that these are in-ear vacuum earbuds with ear tips, the size of the driver was very large. Therefore, if we talk about the maximum volume value, then it was with a large margin. In addition, listening to music at 100% volume will not be safe for your ears at all.
At the same time, the low frequencies played quite voluminously and harmoniously. I also found some decent bass that sounded dynamic. Therefore, for lovers of strong and good bass, this earbud model may definitely interest you.
But the middle and high frequencies did not have that transparency very much. But do not forget that these are inexpensive TWS earbuds, so with some aspects you have to sacrifice.
On the other hand, the Meizu MBLU Blus has an active noise canceling function. But again, this ability does not block out ambient sounds perfectly, since the maximum frequency of noise cancellation was 30 dB. I can say the same about the transparency mode. Yes, it worked, but some of the sounds sounded much louder than they actually were.
As for the microphones? On board the Meizu MBLU Blus earbuds, two microphones are used on each channel. So, if in a quiet place, the microphones worked pretty well. Now, in noisy places, my interlocutors heard me not so clearly, and the surrounding sounds interrupted my voice, including.
Battery and run time
The manufacturer MBLU has installed a 43 mAh battery on its new earbud model. But the battery capacity in the charging case was about 520 mAh.
At the same time, during my testing, the earbuds at 50% volume level using the AAC codec and without active noise cancellation lasted about 6 hours and 10 minutes. And if you activate the ANC function, then the battery life will be reduced to 5 hours, which is also not so bad. Using the charging box, the earbuds can be recharged an additional 4 times.
In addition, the charging case received two charging methods. The first is standard over a Type-C connection, and the second is wireless. There is also fast charging and in 5 minutes of charge, the device takes about 10%.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
The Meizu MBLU Blus is not the most ideal wireless earbuds I’ve tested. But I always remembered about their cost, so all minor flaws were covered by their own price.
On the positive side, I can single out the following features. This is a decent build quality and the corresponding ergonomics in the ear canal.
Also, the earbuds received a good touch control panel with a lot of functions. I also liked how the wireless connection works using the latest generation Bluetooth 5.2.
As for the sound quality, it was good, but the mids and highs did not play very well. But given the presence of active noise canceling and transparency mode, and the price tag of $30, the earbuds are the cheapest in their class.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
During the 11.11 fall promotion, many manufacturers will be offering good discounts and Meizu is no exception. Therefore, you can buy the new Meizu MBLU Blus earbud model at a very sweet price for only $32.99.
If you are looking for inexpensive TWS earbuds that have many interesting features, then today’s model will probably be useful for you.
