The Chinese TV box manufacturer Magicsee has introduced a new and updated model in its line of devices, called Magicsee N5 Plus. Personally, I often came across the Magicsee brand, but today it’s the first time I test their TV box.
Previously, the manufacturer produced previous generations of TV boxes, for example, such as Magicsee N5 NOVA, Magicsee N5 Max, Magicsee A5X MAX and Magicsee N6 and many others. It’s hard to call Magicsee a newcomer since the N5 model with the Plus index is absolutely not the first in the line.
As for the price? Here the manufacturer is affordable and the price will be a little less than $60. A pretty tempting suggestion, but before making any final conclusions, I recommend reading the full review.
The TV box comes with good performance with an Amlogic S905X3 processor, a 4/64GB version of the memory, support for external memory up to 4TB HDD or SSD format and run the Android 9.0 operating system.
I am very glad that this instance fell into my hands and I will test it with pleasure in the detailed review below.

Magicsee N5 Plus: Unboxing
Earlier, I repeatedly tested various TV boxes, but the N5 Plus model received a rather large box when comparing its competitors. On the front part, I see a drawing of the device, the name of the company and the model.
Inside the box, I found the following items, such as a TV box, remote control, HDMI cable, power adapter, instructions and an additional antenna for a better Wifi signal.
Pretty typical equipment and I did not notice anything unusual except the appearance, well, let’s talk about this a little more in the section below.
Magicsee N5 Plus: Design
The first thing that catches your eye is the size of the device itself. Some manufacturers are trying to make the device as compact as possible, but Magicsee with its model N5 Plus decided to do a little different and there are reasons for this.
As for the dimensions, the TV box received 125 x 125 x 45 mm, and the weight was about 185 grams. The reason for this large size is the availability of support for a 2.5-inch hard drive up to 4 TB. Also, for additional memory to fit inside the device, a large amount of volume in size is also necessary.
Of course, if the user does not need a large amount of memory, then it is worth considering other models, but in a more compact case.
On the top, I see a matte plastic element with a red company logo. It looks good, and most importantly, the matte material will not be very smeared with fingerprints or dust.
On the front side, there is an LED screen on which all the necessary information is indicated, for example, time, Wifi or Bluetooth connection.
On the right side, there are only ventilation holes.
The back of the Magicsee N5 Plus received an Ethernet RJ45 port with a speed of 100 Mbps, SPDIF, AV, HDMI, and DC ports. You can also see the switch labeled closed and open. If you switch from left to right, that is, to open, then the top matte cover is disconnected from the main body.
Under the cover, there is a seat for an additional 2.5-inch hard drive with up to 4TB HDD or SSD format.
On the left side, there are already additional USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, as well as a microSD memory slot.
As I already wrote, the kit includes a remote control with a large number of buttons. This solution is not typical in recent times, but with the help of the remote control, you can click channels, as on a standard remote control from the TV. The remote control is powered by two AAA batteries.
Magicsee N5 Plus: Performance and Software
I can’t call the weak TV box since the Amlogic S905X3 processor has good performance even in its budget class. The chipset is based on 4 Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 1.91 GHz. The processor is built on 12 nm technology and works in conjunction with the Mali-G31 MP2 GPU.
As for the memory, Magicsee N5 Plus has no issues, as it received 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. Given that this model of the N5 Plus TV box is designed to store a large amount of information thanks to the built-in support for 2.5 hard drives. Therefore, a large volume of films, photographs and music will not be any problem.
The manufacturer indicates that the device supports 8K resolution with 24 frames per second. At the moment, I see no reason to check and I do not have such a large file resolution. But 4K and with 60 frames per second through a flash drive, Magicsee N5 Plus copes without any problems. The video plays smoothly and without jerking.
When playing video on YouTube with 4K resolution and 30 frames per second, similarly, there were no difficulties and the main page is played.
If you want to play games, such as Asphalt 8 or PUBG Mobile, then you will succeed. Of course, the graphics are not the highest, but the games work without delays and any problems.
You remember that the TV box has a rather massive antenna, so I checked the speed of Wifi. As a result, I got 55 Mb per second download speed and 18 Mb per second upload speed with my provider 70 Mb per second speed.
I also conducted some benchmark tests, such as Geekbench 4 and AnTuTu, the results are not bad and you can see them below.
The operating system is based on Android 9.0 and has the typical appearance of icons and the structure of folders and partitions. This is a vibrant interface that has already received a large number of built-in applications, such as YouTube, Play Store, Chrome, MX player and much more. Of course, you can remove them if necessary.
One non-standard application I found is AirScreen. This application is necessary to connect your smartphone to a large screen without any wires.
In general, the whole interface works quickly and during testing, I did not find any delays or freezes. With the full version of the Google Play Store, you can install absolutely any application and game.
Magicsee N5 Plus: Conclusion and Reviews
After testing the new generation of TV box Magicsee N5 Plus, I was completely satisfied with the work, but this time it was not without drawbacks.
If you have limited space and do not want to take up much space on your desktop, then the N5 Plus model will not be suitable for you. The bulky design may scare some users a little, but thanks to it you get support for a 2.5-inch hard drive up to 4TB, which is important.
Given the budget price, I can note that the device has received good performance and you can watch any video even in 4K resolution. Playing games will not be a problem, and the latest version of the Android 9.0 operating system works quickly and smoothly.
Magicsee N5 Plus: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
Now you can buy Magicsee N5 Plus TV box at a nice price for just $59.99 with a 33% discount.
Due to its low price, the device is well suited for demanding tasks and the presence of a large amount of space for various purposes.
