Recently, you can often see a beautiful smartwatch on the mobile device market, and this is not surprising since it is a popular gadget with all possible functions. In this article, I want to tell about the new watch called Kospet Brave in our review.
With a price tag of about $99, you get a cute smartwatch on the Android operating system with great potential for applications and features.
It’s always good to meet once in a while with that great mid-point between price and functionality that gadgets like the Kospet Brave have achieved, and that gives it a new air to this smothered category of smartwatches.
In other words, it is a watch that does not need your phone at all to operate, but it can have all the applications installed and working directly on it. We could say to summarize, that it is a complete Android smartphone (with SIM card and all) of the size of a watch, which has its advantages and disadvantages that we will be discovering.
What is special about this watch compared to its competitors is the protection of the IP68 standard from water and dust. Yes, this is probably the first smartwatch on the Chinese market with Waterproof.
Let’s proceed to the full review of smartwatches in the detailed overview below, and we will begin with the specs.
Kospet Brave: Specifications
Although we are talking about a mid-range device, this should not confuse you, because this amazing smartwatch is capable of much more than you could imagine that a watch would be able to do.
|Display:||1.3 inches IPS with 240 x 240 pixels|
|CPU:||MediaTek MT6737 Quad Core 1.3GHz|
|Connectivity:||Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac,3G, 4G, Bluetooth 4.0|
|Dimensions:||28.10 x 4.75 x 1.34 cm|
In your arm, you can already have a device with a quad-core processor, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, 4G connectivity, Bluetooth and WiFi.
That’s even better than the technical specifications of some low-end mid-range phones in the market. But before going to it, let’s talk a little about the external appearance of this Kospet Brave.
Kospet Brave: Design and Appearance
The Kospet Brave watch has a round design that reminds us a bit of model like Zeblaze’s watches, but with metal materials that have been used to good its price.
For example, we have a flexible silicone strap, which gives a sporty look but can be changed if one prefers, for one of another material to be compatible with the standard of standard watch straps.
The body of the watch is made of plastic, and only the screen has protection against scratches and bumps, is Gorilla Glass 3, and come factory with a previously installed anti-scratch film.
The screen has IPS technology and resolution of 240 × 240 pixels, which give us clear images and pure colors.
The Kospet Brave in the test has a number of faces pre-installed to customize the way we see the time, from the classic analog style to a digital one according to our preference.
If we connect the Kospet Brave to the internet, we will have at our disposal a broader catalog of about 50 faces to download and change its appearance.
From what I’ve seen so far, it does not seem possible to download more faces than the manufacturer officially offers, which is a little disappointing.
Continuing with the body of Kospet Brave in our analisis, on its sides we only have a button that is used to turn the screen on and as a back.
On the other side of the body, we have a slot for SIM card and also to give internet connectivity using a 3G or 4G data plan.
On the back of the watch is a heart rate sensor, charging connector and speakers.
But the main feature of the Kospet Brave watch is the protection against water under the standard IP68.
That is, you can wet them taking a shower, wash your hands or even swim in the pool.
In general, the design and appearance of the Kospet watch are at a good level and we did not find any bad sides.
Kospet Brave: Hardware and Software
The Kospet Brave being an Android 6.0 device, offers really different use expertise than you might experience in a watch like the Moto 360 or other non-Android tether type equipment, such as Chinese watches that focus on bringing notifications from your phone to the watch in our test.
On the positive side, you have the Android application store where you can install almost any app that is capable of running the hardware of this small device, which incidentally has a launcher specially adapted to your small screen.
In addition, a special app that you can install on your Android or iOS phone gives you those watch functions, to bring notifications to your wrist via Bluetooth if you want to even manage your phone and watch in a coordinated way.
I have tried quite a few applications working either via WiFi or using a SIM card with data plan, and the watch is able to execute them without major problems.
Some that have gone quite well, for example, is Google Home to use in conjunction with ChromeCast, YouTube, Google Maps with GPS, Spotify with wireless headphones and Super Mario Run in terms of games.
When you demand the Kospet Brave, you can quickly notice how its temperature increases, so the battery life can decay very quickly if we start playing or using heavy applications, something that is neither recommended not practical in a watch for its tiny screen.
In the test of Kospet Brave watch that certainly does not exceed $140, which is the typical value of a low-end phone in the mobile market.
Regarding the duration of the battery of Kospet Brave, if we use the watch with a SIM Card using the 3G network, the battery may decay very quickly not reaching the end of the day, something that can be greatly improved by reducing the speed of the network to 2G.
On the other hand, if we use the watch without the SIM, and connecting to the phone either by Bluetooth or using the WiFi network, we can squeeze between a day and a half to two full days depending obviously on the use we give it, which surpasses a little the average duration of smartphones.
When we connect the watch via Bluetooth to the smartphone, we must use a companion app on our phone that will send notifications to the watch.
In the watch when we receive notification we have two alternatives: see only the notification (for example, a WhatsApp message), or open it locally, for which we would first have to have the same application installed on the watch, as would be the case, for example.
Kospet Brave: Application
Additionally, using the Bluetooth connection, we can control the music player of the phone to pause or change the song or manage the volume.
You can connect the application for both Android and iOS called Fundo App.
In the application settings of Kospet Brave, you can customize the watch or view your activity.
It is also possible to download additional watch faces for the main screen on the watch if you watch faces standard will not be enough.
And finally, you can set up the Bluetooth Calls feature if you do not want to connect a SIM card in the smartwatch. But while SMS or phone calls will be displayed on the watch and you can answer them as well as on the phone.
Kospet Brave: Sound
Finally, the speaker included in the watch has a really good volume and enough to clearly hear notifications, the sound of the applications or the voice of people during a call (plus we can activate the vibration for the case of notifications ).
Noisy places make it very difficult to hear clearly during a call, or for people to understand us well with the built-in microphone, so using a Bluetooth hands-free is recommended.
Kospet Brave in the test can only be connected to a Bluetooth device at the same time, having to choose in each case, if we want contacts to the phone or a handsfree.
Kospet Brave: Conclusions and Reviews
Kospet Brave in our review is undoubtedly the best smartwatch with Android that has reached our hands in the middle range with IP68 standard.
It is a price that does not exceed $140 and has almost everything a mid-range smartphone has to offer but on the wrist of your arm.
It works very well as a sports partner with its own biometric sensors, with which you can go jogging, listen to music and measure your performance, without having to carry the phone with you.
In the day to day, the watch can be an interesting companion of the phone to bring notifications to your screen, avoiding having to secure the phone from your pocket every time.
If we put a SIM with data to this Kospet Brave watch, we can virtually transform it into a tiny smartphone with everything it takes to survive without a phone in your pocket. Maybe the graphical experience is not the most optimal in that case, but what can be done.
On the negative side, like most smartwatches, the battery life is not outstanding, so it will be a new device to worry about charging in our day to day.
Kospet Brave: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
In general, if we assume that the watch has a waterproof, then this is a big plus, but not for the price, of course.
Now you can buy a Kospet Brave smartwatch at an interesting price for only $99.99 at a 31% discount. Therefore, it is an ideal companion for daily tasks or checking physical activity for the whole day.
