What can you expect from this phone with a price tag starting at $ 160?
Huawei Enjoy 9 got with a large screen 6.26-inch waterdrop notch, reliable and time-tested Snapdragon 450, 3/4 GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal memory.
In general, it has a beautiful and stylish appearance, but will it conquer the modern market of mobile devices? Let’s start the test and we will start with the specification.

Huawei Enjoy 9: Design and Appearance
At first glance, the Huawei Enjoy 9 in our test is equivalent to other phones like Oppo, OnePlus with its waterdrop notch.
The layout of the back is identical, and again the display stands out from the actual case and is covered by a thin plastic frame. Differences only become clear on closer inspection.
The Huawei Enjoy 9 relies on less metal than its predecessor. The entire frame is now made of plastic and also covers the top and bottom of the back. The rest of the back is then covered by a thin metal plate.
We already know this design from previous Huawei devices from the lower price segment.
In the hand, the smartphone is quite good with iridescent colors that Huawei has been doing lately.
The processing is mostly good, but also shows weaknesses. So at the transition from the plastic to the metal plate at the back of a minimally large gap exists in which likes to fix dirt that you can see clearly and can hardly remove.
Huawei Enjoy 9: Display
The display of Huawei Enjoy 9 was pleasantly surprised in the test. Huawei installed in the Enjoy 9 a fairly high-quality LCD panel, which one already recognizes for the price range really good black level and the uniform illumination.
This results in a good contrast and paired of Huawei Enjoy 9 with the really good color rendering and high resolution, resulting in a beautiful presentation that does not have to hide from more expensive smartphones.
The display size has increased significantly compared to its predecessor and is 6.26 inches at a resolution of 1520 х 720 pixels.
The display reaches according to the manufacturer up to 500 Nits brightness, which we can confirm subjectively. The display is perfectly readable under sunlight.
Another innovation compared to the predecessor is a waterdrop notch. This is relatively good.
I would like to say about the frames, as you can see on the sides of the frame there are thin ones, but at the bottom, the phone has the Huawei logo, and the thickness of the frames is much thicker than usual.
The touchscreen in the Huawei Enjoy 9 recognizes up to 10 fingers at the same time and works so well.
Neither normal use nor the use of Multitouch there were any negative abnormalities.
The reaction time is good. Fast writing on the on-screen keyboard is no problem.
The display glass is lubricious and no fingerprint magnet. Scratches did not show up after more than a week of use.
Huawei Enjoy 9: Hardware and Performance
The processor has not powerful compared to its competitors. So there is also a Snapdragon 450 processor in the Huawei Enjoy 9.
This technically corresponds to the MediaTek P60 and therefore only comes with a lower clock rate.
In the Antutu benchmark, the smartphone reaches 70,000 points. This is not the best value for the processor.
That should be among other things on the main memory. Although installed Huawei LPDDR4X RAM, but this is at least in our existing 3GB model with 7.73GB/s comparatively slow.
In everyday life, this is only occasionally noticeable. All apps are super fluid, but when switching between apps or when returning to the launcher, it can come to a brief stutter.
Maybe Huawei can optimize this with the next updates because the Enjoy 9 is still running on its first firmware version.
The game’s performance is unimpressed by the short slowdowns. We have tested various titles and had a smooth gaming experience even in demanding games.
The memory is based on eMMC 5.1 devices and can hold either 32GB or 64GB capacity. The memory is quite fast on the way and the writing speed could be a bit better.
With such a middle-class smartphone that will hardly bother anyone. If you want to expand the memory, you can do this with a Micro SD card.
The slot achieves decent data rates. But you do not need Dual SIM and EMUI still support installing apps on Micro SD cards.
As is usual with Huawei, the sensors are fully equipped, which includes not only the basic sensors but also a compass, a gyroscope, and a pedometer.
All sensors passed the test without error. To unlock is on the back of a fingerprint sensor ready. This works fast and reliable.
The unlock delay is a maximum of half a second, usually less. Alternatively, there is Face Unlock, which works very slowly on the Huawei Enjoy 9.
Here you have to expect waiting times of two to three seconds so that the use in everyday life is not worthwhile.
Criticism concedes the Huawei Enjoy 9 for its USB port. Huawei is still in the Enjoy line-up on Micro USB and does not change anything on the Huawei Enjoy 9.
Slowly it gets really annoying since almost every other manufacturer has switched exclusively to USB Type-C.
Huawei Enjoy 9: Software
The Huawei Enjoy 9 in our analisis comes with EMUI 8.2 in the global version. The underlying Android base is version 8.1 Oreo.
Unfortunately, the smartphone comes with a security patch from November 2018. This is surprising because usually Huawei is exemplary and keeps the patch always up to date.
The system supports OTA updates. In the test period, however, we have not received an update yet. Since it is a Global ROM, of course, Multi-Language is also at the start.
In addition, the Play Store is preinstalled and Google certified. The factory has a lot of bloatware installed, including Google Apps, Netflix, Facebook, and various Microsoft apps.
Huawei Enjoy 9: Connectivity
In mobile reception, the Huawei Enjoy 9 has done well in the test. The overall reception performance is very good and we also had stable 3G and 4G reception in areas with a weak signal and in buildings.
Volume 20 LTE is also supported. Dual SIM VoLTE is also at the start. What is missing is global frequency support, which is relevant for all who travel a lot.
As far as the WLAN reception is concerned there is nothing negative to report. AC-WLAN is supported and you only have to do without 2×2 MIMO.
One floor below, the smartphone changed to the 2.4 GHz band and reached around 47 Mbit/s. No best but still good and absolute on average.
In addition, there is Bluetooth 4.2. Again, there were no problems and the range in the test was very good.
The Huawei Enjoy 9 did not disappoint with GPS usage in the analisis. The GPS test app showed some green bars and a fast fix with mostly around 20 integrated satellites.
Navigation and GPS tracking have worked flawlessly in a variety of situations, even in your pocket.
Huawei Enjoy 9: Sound
In the Huawei Enjoy 9 has installed a mono speaker in the lower frame. This achieves an impressive volume without distorting it. The sound can be seen as usual for the price range.
The music and speech are clearly reproduced and shows clear bass. The 3.5mm connector is a welcome bonus.
Again, the sound is right and can be adjusted as usual via the supplied system equalizer.
When talking on the phone, Enjoy 9 delivers a clear voice quality. The auricle sounds good and reaches a decent volume. Active noise canceling works flawlessly.
Huawei Enjoy 9: Camera
The 13MP main camera in the Huawei Enjoy 9 convinces by day which is combined with a second 2MP camera for depth detection. The camera provides with sufficient light beautiful photos with good sharpness.
Especially with activated AI, the pictures look very colorful in color. In particular, when taking pictures of flowers or food can be so good results.
Macro shots are crisp and very detailed. When taking landscape pictures or taking pictures at a greater distance, a minimal artifact formation can be observed. But that does not bother me.
The resulting minimal blur is visible only on large screens and is hardly noticeable at normal viewing distance. Fine details remain sufficiently visible.
A weakness shows the camera at the dynamic range. The sky is often over-exposed or washed out without HDR. Even in photos of bright flowers, this is noticeable in the form of reduced contrast.
The bokeh mode was very pleasantly surprised. Huawei often has significant difficulties here, especially when it comes to more demanding motives.
Enjoy 9 is surprisingly good, especially for the price range. The bokeh effect is relatively reliable and makes only subtle mistakes.
At night, the Huawei Enjoy 9 disappoints. The camera produces a strong image noise. The software tries to compensate for this, which suffers the sharpness considerably.
The LED flash slightly improves the picture, but it can only do something at close range. Photos with long exposure are possible in principle, but the maximum exposure time is less than one second. This is not a lot to start with.
The front camera has undergone a significant upgrade in the Huawei Enjoy 9. You now get an 8MP sensor.
In normal mode, the front camera produces crisp and detailed selfies as you’d expect from an 8MP sensor. For this, however, necessarily enough light must be present. Even in dim light (for example, in a house with no windows nearby), the front camera produces a strong image noise.
Videos can record both cameras in Full HD and 30fps. Both cameras offer EIS, but it is recommended to disable this function.
With us, she has caused in the test for disturbances in the picture. It is disturbing that the main camera offers no autofocus when filming.
The focus must be set manually. The video quality is good on both cameras, with the front camera providing slightly better quality. The sound is clear and loud enough.
Huawei Enjoy 9: Battery
Huawei Enjoy 9 has 4000mAh and it’s almost become a standard in battery capacity at Huawei.
Also, Enjoy 9 was happy with it and as expected was very good. Two days of running time can be reached here with ease. With economical use is even more in it.
And even power users will easily come through at least one day without having to plug in the power.
The Huawei Enjoy 9 is charged with 5V/2A. At least that’s the specification of the included power supply. The charging process from 20% to 100% takes about two hours.
Huawei Enjoy 9: Conclusions and Reviews
The Huawei Enjoy 9 turns out to be a rock-solid mid-range smartphone with modern design and almost full screen and as always in trend with waterdrop notch.
In general, this is a new phone with a stunning design but at an adequate price.
But if you compare the production then you do not need to expect high marks. If we talk about the smoothness and stability of the device, then everything is fine.
The camera is of medium quality photo and video filming, but for photos on Instagram or Facebook with processing, you can take good pictures.
Autonomous work is a good indicator with 4000mAh, but the minus is slow charging with a micro USB port.
Huawei Enjoy 9: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
As I have already mentioned, you can buy the Huawei Enjoy 9 now at an interesting and low price starting from $165.99 for the version of the 3/32GB version, and for $199.99 for the 4/64GB version.
In general, this is a stylish phone with a decent appearance and battery life.
