Huawei has introduced a new fitness bracelet model called Honor Band 6 to the mobile market.
Earlier I already tested the main competitor for Honor, namely Xiaomi Mi Band 5. If you haven’t read my review, then I’ll leave a link here.
As for the new smart bracelet from Huawei, the Honor Band 6 will cost you just $50 for the standard version.
For example, the device received a large 1.47-inch AMOLED screen, Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connection, and many useful sensors and functions.
Thus, I propose to start my in-depth and complete review with unpacking and then talk about the main functions and features.

Unboxing and packaging
The new smart bracelet Honor Band 6 comes in a fairly compact box. It is made in white and blue, and on the front, there is a drawing of the device with a glossy display.
On the back of the box is a list of icons with key features. But I want to point out that I have a Chinese version of the bracelet on my test. Therefore, all inscriptions are written in Chinese.
There is nothing unusual inside the box – this is the smart bracelet itself, a cable with two-pin magnetic charging and instructions for use. In general, the bundle is very standard for the category of smartwatches or bracelets. But on the positive side, I can say that a transparent protective film was already glued on the bracelet screen.
Design, build quality and materials
If you look at the appearance of the Honor Band 6, then it is difficult to call them a bracelet, since they are very similar to a smartwatch. For example, I previously tested the Honor Watch ES smartwatch model, and in appearance, they are very similar.
Why did the manufacturer decide to call the Honor Band 6 a fitness bracelet? This question remains a mystery to me. But despite this, let’s see what materials the device is assembled from.
The body of the smart bracelet is made of durable matte plastic. I have no complaints about the build quality, but as for the convenience, there are some inconveniences.
For example, when compared to the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, the Honor Band 6 is much larger in size. It is 43 x 25.4 x 11.45 mm, but the device weighs about 28 grams. Indeed, wearing the Mi Band 5 on the wrist will be a little more comfortable. Especially when it comes to wearing while sleeping.
Despite this, there is a large 1.47-inch AMOLED screen on the front. The resolution was 194 x 360 pixels and I want to note that the resolution is sufficient for comfortable use.
The screen itself received very saturated colors, high brightness, and therefore it will not be a problem to use the screen even in sunny weather. For example, at maximum brightness, in the function of the flashlight mode, the device gives out 240 candelas. Also, I must say that the front part has a protective 2.5D glass with an oleophobic coating.
On the ends, you can find the Honor logo on the left side, and on the right, there is a mechanical power button with a red notch. I can note that with the NFC version, there will be another microphone hole near the button for voice control.
The back of the bracelet received two contacts for charging and sensors for measuring heart rate and blood oxygen levels.
Now a little about the strap, the Honor Band 6 uses a rather interesting strap. You might think that the strap is not removable, but it is not. To remove the strap, you need to remove the plastic caps and press the special latch and the strap will fold back.
The length of the upper strap was 75 mm, and the lower strap was 114 mm, while the width was about 13 mm. Yes, you can easily change the strap, but you can only get it in brand stores or through China, for example, through Aliexpress stores.
The last and I think not an unimportant feature is protection from water. So, Honor Band 6 uses full protection against water under the 5ATM standard. That is, you can swim with bracelets in the pool and dive to a depth of 50 meters or 5 atmospheres.
Functions, features, and application
I would like to start with the functions of the new bracelet from the main screen. There are over 100 different watch faces you can install on the Honor Band 6. But the main advantage of the screen is its useful area. That is, you will be able to see a lot of information, depending on the watch’s face.
If you hold on to the main screen for a few seconds, you will get into the menu with 9 different watch faces. Here I want to note that in some options, you can customize the values for your taste.
For example, the main screen displays the time, date, steps, battery level, and much other useful information.
The usual location of the quick settings menu is to swipe down from the home screen. Here you can see information such as Bluetooth connection, battery level, date, and day of the week. Also in this section, there are such icons as do not disturb mode, vibration level, find phone, alarm clock, and settings.
In addition, the bracelet has the function of a permanently on-screen, and the interval can be selected from 5 to 20 seconds. But there is no auto-brightness in the display settings and you can choose five different brightness level modes.
If you swipe to the right, you will see the following useful widgets. These include activity throughout the day, music player, weather, and heart rate. In addition, the sequence of widgets can be set in the settings you like best.
Swipe up opens a list of unread notifications that came to you wirelessly on your smartphone.
If you press the button on the right side, the main menu with all functions and features will be called up. Here I noticed – these are sports modes, sports records, heart rate, checking the level of oxygen in the blood, stress, monitoring sleep quality, weather, breathing restoration, and other features. However, other functions are exactly the same as most fitness watches or bracelets.
I didn’t have any problems in managing the user interface. Every gesture or menu switch was precise and, most importantly, fast, without any lag.
Now a few words about the application that Honor Band 6 uses. This is a proprietary application called Huawei Health and it is used like on most smart wearables from Huawei.
Pairing a smart bracelet Honor Band 6 with an application on a smartphone will not cause you any difficulties. But the menu in the application is exactly the same as that of most competitors. The functions are standard, but I found a small drawback. These are half of the watch faces available for a fee. Of course, for many users, this will be a big disadvantage.
Battery and run time
Inside the case of the Honor Band 6 smart bracelet, a 180 mAh battery was installed. The manufacturer guarantees about two weeks of battery life.
But according to my miscalculations, the battery life on one full charge will be enough for about 9-10 days. This is also a good indicator, which I am very happy about. I would like to point out that this version of the smart bracelet lacks the GPS function.
Can’t miss yet the fast charging feature. For example, 5 minutes of charging is enough for two days of use.
Conclusion, reviews, pros, and cons
The Honor Band 6 is not only a modern smart bracelet but also a smart wearable device that resembles a fashionable smartwatch in design.
Indeed, I can’t dare to call the new generation a fitness bracelet. Since the device received a large and bright 1.47-inch screen with AMOLED matrix.
I also liked the work of the user interface and a large number of useful and interesting features. For example, it is a function of tracking heart rate and blood oxygen levels, sports training, stress tracking, and breathing recovery.
But the bracelet also received negative aspects – these are paid watch faces. And this is the first time I come across such a solution.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Now you can buy and order the Honor Band 6 smart bracelet at a low and attractive price for only $49.99 with a 20% discount.
Of course, the price for a smart bracelet is high, but I cannot call the sixth generation of Honor bracelet. Most likely it is a full-fledged smart fitness watch by the standards of the modern world and trends.
