Today, in the test I have the next generation Honor Band 4. A relatively low-priced fitness tracker, which is waterproof up to 50 m and with a battery charge should last up to 15 days.
Meanwhile, the word should have gotten around that Honor is a Huawei brand, even though both do not like to be called together.
From a purely optical point of view, both differ considerably, but almost identical technology has been used inside.
Nevertheless, the Honor Band is cheaper than the Huawei Band. I was very curious, but what happened then, I’ve never experienced this before. So, let’s see the main specs of new Honor Band 4.
Honor Band 4: Specifications
|Honor Band 4:||Specs|
|Screen:||0.95 inch AMOLED Color screen|
|IP standart:||5ATM or 50M waterproof|
|Standby time:||up to 15 days|
|Size:||243 x 172 x 11.5mm|
Honor Band 4: Desing and Appearance
In addition to the fitness band is also a charging adapter, a short micro-USB charging cable and an English quick guide, but with two puny pages really only the most necessary as the download of the app and connect explained.
It is equipped with everything that is important in such a fitness tracker. So a pedometer, sleep monitoring, pulse sensor, etc.
Like the Xiaomi Mi Band 3, the Honor Band 4 has no built-in GPS module.
Also, it is waterproof. Just like the Mi Band 3. Not only splash-proof like many others but really waterproof.
It is easy to swim and even dive up to 50 meters deep.
The tracker looks like all the others, but makes a more valuable impression, even if it is made entirely of plastic.
The AMOLED display is comparatively big and narrow. It does not even occupy a lot of place at the front.
Below the display is a virtual key that controls the tape.
On the back of the pulse sensor and the pins for the charger.
The bracelet can be changed, but offers a different system than usual, because it is screwed. It has the advantage that nothing can be lost and dropped.
The bracelet is made of a very soft and therefore pleasant silicone. It does not smell at all and even if you sweat heavily, it does not make itself felt on the tape.
The closure is adjustable in a wide range and should enclose even wider forearms safely. You can argue about the clasp.
The weight of 23g cannot be felt in everyday life. The button responds reliably but misses a haptic feedback.
I think it’s good and had no problems. Whether one-handed opening or closing.
It works flawlessly and by the wide clip, it should not open independently. At least it did not work for me.
Honor Band 4: Display
The display is eased readable in the open air with a fair amount of sunshine thanks to AMOLED color high-resolution colored display.
The display is activated by the typical “on-the-clock-look” gesture.
Texts, or rather the notifications of the apps are displayed upright. You can scroll through longer texts by pressing a button.
The processing is absolutely fine, which you can expect at this price but probably.
Honor Band 4: Software and Application
The software of the Honor Band 4 in the test is very easy because it has only one button and only a few functions.
With the help of the virtual button, the displays can be switched through and pressed, activities can be started, paused or ended.
Especially for runners might be interesting that you can train on the Huawei Health App on a marathon, as well as for other distances or you create yourself a training plan.
These too can be started and monitored directly via the tape. Otherwise, the tape has no functions.
First, you need the Huawei Wear App (Android / iOS). If you use Android, you also need the Huawei Health App to get details such as: has slept, the pulse history, sporting activities, etc.
The Huawei Wear app cannot do that. Why is it like that? No idea. You have to ask Huawei or Honor.
But that’s the least of the problems because I could easily connect the Honor Band 4 with Huawei Wear and set up.
Honor Band 4: Usage
In general, as the main competitor of Xiaomi Mi Band 3, the new bracelet has all the main functions, such as Measurement of heart rate, Pedometer, Sleep management and much more.
During my tests, I found the following readings, in Mi Band 3, I showed the result in 10107 steps for a whole day of walking, and in the new Honor Band, 4 showed in 10045 steps.
So the results for both bands are almost the same, as for other functions they work well and I have no questions for them.
Honor Band 4: Battery
The battery is awesome. With 100 mAh, but it should last up to 15 days.
In spite of activated pulse measurement, I still had 80% battery capacity after just 6 days.
Unfortunately, I did not come further, as I will explain in the practical test.
The Honor Band 4 in the analisis is loaded with a charging adapter, which is clipped into the band from below, which proves to be a bit fiddly but holds steady.
It only fits in one position and is connected via micro-USB cable. A power adapter is unfortunately not included, but it fits any standard USB charger.
Honor Band 4: Conclusions and Reviews
Would I recommend Honor Band 4? Yes, this is a good choice of a band for an active lifestyle or just checking your activity during the day.
If you compare with the competitor Xiaomi Mi Band 3, then Honor Band 4 displays the screen much better, since it’s AMOLED.
As for autonomy, because of the large and bright screen Honor Band 4 in our review will live about 15 days, but on personal experience, this will be a week.
I also wanted to mention the good quality of the assembly and materials, and also protect the display from scratches or falls.
Honor Band 4: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
Now you can already buy an Honor Band 4 at a price of only $39.99 with 27% OFF. It is a good alternative to the main competitor such as Xiaomi, as the Honor Band of the new generation has its advantages.
