Today I have on review an interesting TV box from another little-known brand. The device was named HK1 and in this article, I will talk about its main features and functions.
Before getting down to a detailed review, let’s talk about both price and specifications. The price of the HK1 TV box is $55, and considering its technical part, this is a pretty good device.
For example, the device received a quad-core Amlogic S905X3 processor, 4/128 GB version of memory, a dual Wi-Fi network with support for AC networks, a gigabit Internet connection, a full version of Android 9 Pie, and much more.
I will return to the main features later, but now I want to start a full review with unboxing and appearance.

Unboxing, packaging and what to expect inside the box
A standard rectangular box in bright blue greeted me on my desktop. On the front, you can see the drawing of the device, the model name, and the main features. These include 8K movies, H.265 support, games, music, and more.
Inside the box, I found – this is the TV box itself in shipping cellophane, a power adapter, an HDMI cable, remote control, and instructions in English.
As you might expect, inside the box is a standard list of things that are often found in other TV box models.
Design, assembly, and materials of manufacture
The HK1 TV box is a very striking device that immediately catches your eye. It got an oval shape with very smooth corners. The name and a very attractive iridescent pattern are written on the front of the TV box.
It will be difficult to call the design minimalistic or strict. But I think some people will like this look.
On the front end, there is an LED screen that shows the time and other useful information. At night, it shines quite brightly and cannot be turned off.
On the right side of the TV box, there is a memory card slot, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. At the same time, the last port is located at the very corner and I think that its location will not be the most convenient if you have limited space for the device.
The back of the HK1 has an Ethernet connection, headphone jack, HDMI port, S/PDIF jack, and power jack.
The lower part received a cooling hole and a sticker with the model name and memory version.
If the top is made of glossy plastic, then the rest of the plastic is made of matte material. The build quality of the entire device is at a pretty decent level. I did not find any creaks or other sounds.
In general, the appearance is quite nice, but it’s up to you whether it suits your interior. I have no complaints about the build quality and materials used.
Performance, benchmarks, and software
HK1 TV box comes with a modern Amlogic S905X3 processor. It is built on four cores and has a clock speed of 1.91 GHz and has 12-nanometer technology.
Also, this processor is paired with the G31 MP2 GPU graphics accelerator. Even complex games run well, but playing Asphalt 8 or PUBG Mobile won’t be very comfortable. Sometimes there are freezes and the picture itself is not very smooth. Other easier games will be more comfortable to play in.
In addition, during heavy loads, for example, playing games, the TV box got quite hot. But when I watched the video on YouTube, I did not observe any heating problems.
In terms of the amount of memory, everything is not so bad here. The device received 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. As for the average user, the internal memory will be sufficient for everyday tasks. The TV box is still not a mini PC and does not require a lot of memory. Its main task is to stream videos in various programs, for example, Youtube.
Below I will leave an album with the benchmark test results, and from myself I can say that the HK1 TV box received a pretty good performance, considering its cost.
Next, I want to test the boot of the operating system. The result is not the fastest, as the device booted in 53 seconds, which is quite a long time.
The HK1 runs Android 9 Pie and has the same vibrant user interface as the design itself.
The main menu of the TV box got the same appearance as the front part of the device. At the top, there are indicators for time, date, and day of the week and also connected wireless connections.
In the central part, there are icons from frequently used applications and there are tabs for other applications and settings. At the bottom, I can add eight icons with the required applications.
The device has a number of already installed applications, such as YouTube, Netflix, Play Store, and others. I also liked the presence of Miracast, which will allow you to show the screen of your smartphone on a TV or monitor.
Next, I ran a series of tests on video playback. As practice has shown, the HK1 TV box plays 4K video at 60 frames per second, either through a USB flash drive or on Youtube without any problems. The video plays smoothly and without jerking.
In general, the TV box showed itself on the positive side, but it was not without its drawbacks. For example, I can attribute to a minus – this is the rather slow speed of the internal memory. Therefore, the boot time of the OS itself will be slightly longer than other competing devices.
Conclusion, reviews, cons, and pros
The HK1 TV box is a decent device that gets quite powerful performance considering its price tag.
Amlogic S905X3 processor and G31 MP2 GPU perform well in benchmark tests. Even in real life, even complex applications run without any problems.
Also, the main task is to play high-definition video, the TV box copes without any problems. Therefore, if you like to watch 4K videos then for HK1 it will not be a problem.
Of the minuses, this is a rather outdated internal memory, which showed very weak read and writes speeds.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Now, you can buy the new HK1 TV Box at an attractive price tag – $ 55.67 with a 25% discount.
Considering the minor flaws, I liked the new HK1 TV box in terms of performance. But I’ll also leave a list of other competitors below.
