Edifier produces good audio equipment for the mobile device market. Today I have reviewed a very interesting model of wireless earbuds called Edifier Unibuds.
The manufacturer Edifier began its activity with speakers, but now everything often and often comes across various models of TWS earbuds on its way. Therefore, I propose to start my review and find out what is amazing about the new earbud model from the Edifier brand?
First, I want to talk about the cost of earbuds, since I assume that for most users, it is the price tag that will be the decisive factor when choosing any technique. Currently, the price tag for Edifier Unibuds is $70.
Yes, the cost of wireless earbuds is not the most attractive. But let’s find out the main features, so as not to draw premature conclusions. Edifier is positioning its new model of Unibuds earbuds as a premium segment. Also, the device received an LED screen on the charging box, a 6 mm driver, and support for the aptX audio codec.
In addition, the earbuds boast high battery life, protection from moisture and dust, as well as the presence of a wireless Bluetooth 5.0 connection.
So, let’s find out the main features in design, fit, sound, and microphone quality. But before starting a full and in-depth review, I suggest learning about the package.

Unboxing and packaging
The appearance of the packaging surprised me a lot, since before that I had never seen a similar design of the TWS earbud packaging. In terms of design, the packaging looks more like a box with pull-out compartments, and not a box from wireless earbuds.
For example, in the upper section, there is a charging box with earbuds. But on the front side, there is a drawer in which I found instructions, a set of silicone ear tips, a protective pouch, and a Type-C format charging cable.
Indeed, the package bundle is very rich and I was glad to see the presence of additional silicone ear hooks. They promote a proper fit in the ear canal and are designed for running or sports. Okay, I figured out the unpacking, now I propose to find out the design features of the new earbuds from the Edifier brand.
Design, build quality and materials
If you look at the appearance of the new model of Edifier Unibuds earbuds, it will be difficult to find differences between their predecessors. Especially when it comes to the form of execution. It is a similar design which is similar to models like TWS1 Pro, X3, and others.
This means that if you already had previous generations of earbuds and liked them for the fit, then the new generation of Unibuds will also sit well in the ear canal.
In my case, the earbuds fit perfectly in the ear canal. I could easily go about my chores like cleaning. Also, listen to your favorite music on public transport and even go in for sports, including jogging.
It is worth noting here that the Unibuds earbuds themselves received protection from water and dust under the IP65 standard. Of course, this is not complete protection against water and you should not swim with earbuds in the pool or take a shower.
I have a white version of the earbuds, but the manufacturer Edifier also offers a dark blue color option. Both colors combine golden edges and look very interesting.
The plastic itself is made of glossy material, but I do not want to say that it is of poor quality. So, this is not cheap glossy plastic, as is used on more budget wireless earbuds. But for me, the fact remains since I am not a fan of glossy plastic. I prefer matte plastic rather than glossy material.
As for the build quality, the Edifier Unibuds earbuds were performed very well. During my testing, the case did not emit extraneous sounds and squeaks, and the parts were well-matched with each other.
On the outside of the earbud case, there is a touch control with the company logo. But on the inside, two contacts were installed for charging.
Okay, now is the time to talk about the charging box. Like the earbuds themselves, the case was made of similar glossy material. This, of course, is a disadvantage for me. But in terms of the quality of performance, I did not reveal strong remarks. That is, the earbud lid opened with almost no backlash and it did not close by itself in the open position.
On the front of the case, you can see around LED screen with a mechanical button. With one press of the button, information about the battery charge level was displayed on the screen of the charging box. At the same time, if you open the lid, then you can see an animation with a folding case and an emoticon.
When the lid is open and the earbuds are in the case, when you press the button, information about the charge level of the earbuds themselves will be displayed on the screen. Meanwhile, a Type-C charging port is located on the bottom of the charging box case.
Connectivity, signal quality, latency, and touch controls
As for the quality of the connection, I did not reveal any special problems, but Bluetooth with version 5.0 is not a 5.1 or 5.2 version. During my tests, the signal was transmitted very well and stable, even at a distance of 10 meters.
I also liked the presence of the aptX, AAC, and SBC audio codec. Recently, not every headphone has support for the aptX codec. In general, I did not find any special problems with the signal quality.
If we talk about the latency, then while watching the video on Youtube, I did not find strong remarks. But Edifier Unibuds cannot be called gaming earbuds for sure, since it was not very comfortable to play in PUBG Mobile.
I was interested in using a mobile application called Edifier Connect. In the application menu, you can monitor the battery level indicators of the earbuds. There are also equalizer settings and a choice of different genres such as classic, pop, blues, and others.
The touch controls are quite responsive and I did not find any particular difficulties in using it. In general, during my testing, accidental clicks were not noticed.
Sound and microphone quality
Each Edifier Unibuds uses a 6mm driver. By modern standards, this is not a very large driver size. The latest generations of TWS earbuds already exist with 8 or 10mm drivers.
Therefore, it is easy to conclude that the maximum volume level will not be the highest. Thus, if you often listen to music in noisy places, then obviously the Unibuds model will not be the best choice.
But as for the sound quality, I liked the sound of the new headphone model from Edifier. For example, low frequencies are played vigorously and even a little bass is present. Yes, perhaps this is not the deepest bass, but the low frequencies do not go beyond their limits.
The mids and highs sound good too, and the sound through the earbuds is really detailed and clear. Even at the maximum volume level, the earbuds did not emit extraneous squeaks and annoying sounds. The vocals sound crystal clear and straightforward.
Now let’s talk about the quality of the microphones. It is easy to guess that the Edifier Unibuds model will have fewer advantages than similar earbuds with only a leg. However, in a quiet place, the microphone sound was of pretty good quality. But in noisy places, the interlocutors heard me, but not as clearly as in a quiet place.
Battery and run time
Another positive aspect of the Edifier Unibuds earbuds is the battery life on a single charge. The manufacturer promises about 8 hours of battery life for the earbuds, so let’s check if this is actually the case?
During my testing, the Unibuds earned battery life in 7 hours and 55 minutes. This is a very solid indicator, and even competitors can envy this indicator of battery life of the new headphone model from Edifier. The total battery life using the charging box is about 30 hours.
It will take about 50 minutes to charge a 60 mAh earbud, but charging a box with a 500 mAh capacity will take you about 1.5 hours.
Conclusion, reviews, pros, and cons
At first glance, Edifier has released an almost premium Unibuds earbud at a very sweet price. Although, there were some drawbacks, let’s talk about the positive aspects of the device.
Of course, the first thing the earbuds stand out for is their premium box and bundle. Also, I have nothing negative to say about the build quality and fit. In addition, the Unibuds earbuds model plays at a pretty decent level and you can listen to any genre of music.
Another positive aspect is the battery life on a full charge. In addition, I liked the control of the touch panel and the presence of a proprietary application from Edifier.
Ok, now let’s talk about the cons. The new Edifier Unibuds earbud was made of glossy plastic and is not the best choice. Also, the device does not have the latest technology. For example, they lack the function of active noise cancellation, transparency mode, and even a proximity sensor for auto-pause.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Right now, you can buy Edifier Unibuds TWS earbuds at a pretty good price for just $69.99 with a 50% discount.
If you are looking for high-quality wireless earbuds with good looks and good packaging, then the new model from Edifier is a good choice.
