The very first model of wireless earbuds from Edifier was TWS1, which I was able to test back at the end of September 2019. Today, the company decided to update the lineup and released an improved version of the earbuds called Edifier TWS1 Pro.
In this article, you will find out what are the main improvements that the improved TWS earbuds have received, and I will also share with you about the build quality and wearing comfort. But besides this, I will tell you my opinion about the quality of the sound and microphone and whether the improved model is generally worth your attention or not.
In terms of cost, the Edifier TWS1 Pro is currently priced at $50. A lot or a little, let’s find out from the technical specifications. But first, I want to remind you about the price of the first generation of Edifier TWS1 earbuds, which is currently around $35.
The most important feature in the TWS1 Pro model is the presence of a wireless connection Bluetooth 5.2 version. The manufacturer also promises high battery life, support for aptX Adaptive, aptX, SBC codecs and multifunctional touch control.
Judging from the technical features, earbuds for such a price are definitely worth their attention. So, let me start a full and in-depth review of the improved Edifier earbuds to find out how they will behave in real life.

Unboxing and packaging
Like most wireless earbuds from the Edifier brand, the new TWS1 Pro comes in a small, square package. On the front part, you can see the earbud drawing, as well as its name and main features, in the form of icons.
Inside the package, there are the following components, such as instructions and warranty card, Type-C charging cable and a set of additional ear tips.
Immediately, I note that the silicone ear tips are made of fairly high-quality material. Naturally, the package includes a charging box with earbuds inside.
The manufacturer tried and made a good leap over the previous TWS1 model. Now the charging box uses a modern Type-C port for charging, and earlier the case had an outdated Micro USB connection. Okay, now I think it’s worth talking about build quality and wearability.
Design, build quality and materials used
If you compare the updated version of wireless earbuds from Edifier with its older model TWS1, then you will hardly notice any difference in appearance. For example, the size and shape of the earbuds for both models are completely identical.
But if the design of the improved version of the TWS1 Pro earbuds remained the same, then the material used has changed. Previously, the TWS1 model was made of glossy white plastic, which was matrim and easily left fingerprints or scratches.
Now the manufacturer has produced a new model of earbuds already made of matte plastic. This combination gives only positive emotions, as I prefer matte plastic instead of glossy versions. It has long been proven that matte plastic is stronger and more durable than glossy plastic.
Taking into account the change in the material used, the earbuds have practically the same weight. For example, the TWS1 Pro version now weighs approximately 4.6 grams. This is incredibly lightweight and in addition to this factor, wearing the earbuds was very comfortable even for a long time.
I also have no complaints about the build quality, the earbuds from the Edifier brand are made quite well and I did not find any extraneous squeaks or noises.
As I said, previously the TWS1 version only had white, black and green colors. Now the new model uses an interesting combination of colors – white ivory and dark gray. For me, the new colors have become even better and have an unobtrusive minimalistic appearance.
Like the previous generation of earbuds, Edifier TWS1 Pro received good protection against splashes and sweat under the IP65 standard. Yes, this is not a full-fledged protection against water and therefore you cannot take a shower or a bath with earbuds, and even more so swim in the pool.
On the front, you can see the touch control panel with the brand logo. But on the side, there is a small LED indicator of work. Meanwhile, there are two charging contacts on the inside. But the disadvantage is the lack of an automatic pause proximity sensor.
The new generation TWS1 Pro charging box not only received the same shape and design, but also if you had a protective silicone case from the first generation, then it will fit the updated version.
Like wireless earbuds, the charging box has a completely similar plastic in its design. Besides, I liked the build quality and it is much better than the first generation. For example, the charging box got a good stroke of opening the lid without any backlashes or other troubles.
But the most important change, as I said, is the Type-C charging port. Okay, now I think it’s worth talking about the quality of the connection and the features of the touch controls.
Connection, latency and control
In the updated model of Edifier TWS1 Pro wireless earbuds, the company has installed the flagship chipset – Qualcomm 3040. In addition, the device has advanced audio codecs such as aptX Adaptive, aptX, AAC and SBC.
Another important feature is the latest generation of wireless Bluetooth 5.2 version. Therefore, during my test, the connection between the smartphone and the earbuds was always stable and strong.
In terms of latency, thanks to the aptX audio codec, there was almost no latency even when playing games. When watching videos on YouTube, everything was also smooth and it was very comfortable to watch the video.
Other than that, I really liked the updated touch controls with more features. Let’s go through each in more detail.
- One touch causes play, pause, accept or put a phone call.
- Double tap depending on the channels – switches tracks forward or backward.
- Long press on the earbud – increases or decreases the volume.
Thus, touch control has improved a lot, since in the first generation TWS1 it was not possible to adjust the volume level.
Sound and microphone quality
In terms of sound, the new generation Edifier TWS1 Pro also received a number of significant improvements when compared to the first generation. For example, the presence of the aptX Adaptive audio codec made it possible to obtain a cleaner and more transparent sound quality.
In addition, the use of a polyurethane and titanium diaphragm will give you incredibly beautiful sound even at the highest volume.
If we talk about low frequencies, then the TWS1 Pro model even has a good bass. Yes, it may not be as deep as the more expensive TWS earbuds, but it’s also not bad for its $ 50 price tag.
At the same time, I had no strong complaints about the sound quality of the middle and high frequency ranges. Also, the vocalist’s voice was transparent and clear, as well as the musical instruments played clearly and separately.
Now I want to talk about the quality of the microphone, the new TWS1 Pro model uses CvC 8.0 noise canceling technology. In practice, the earbuds have shown themselves to be quite positive. For example, the interlocutors heard me clearly and accurately, even in noisy places.
Battery and run time
The main improvement in the Edifier TWS1 Pro model was the appearance of fast charging, which will charge the charging box from 0 to 100% in just 40 minutes. It is quite fast and much higher than that of its competitors.
But the battery capacity remains the same 60 mAh, like its predecessor. But thanks to the modern wireless Bluetooth 5.2 connection, energy efficiency has improved dramatically. Now, the earbuds are capable of working for about 12 hours at 50% volume.
The total battery life using the charging box is approximately 42 hours.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
Edifier TWS1 Pro are well-equipped wireless earbuds that are orders of magnitude better than the first generation.
On the positive side, I can attribute the appearance of matte plastic and a better build quality. Also, the updated model of TWS earbuds received an improved Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connection and much brighter sound quality.
I also liked the updated touch controls with volume control and the increased battery life.
Among the shortcomings, I can single out – this is the lack of functions such as auto pause, active noise cancellation and wireless charging of the charging box.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Without any doubt, I can easily recommend the updated version of TWS1 Pro, even if you already have the first generation.
As I said at the beginning of the review, the price for Edifier TWS1 Pro is very attractive, which was only $49.99 with a 50% discount.
