First, it should be noted that the appearance of the new model of the N40 Pro smartphone turned out to be very original. The device also has good performance thanks to the Helio P60 chipset with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory.

In addition, the smartphone from the Doogee brand received a bright screen with a size of 6.52 inches and HD + resolution. There is also a main camera with 20 megapixel modules from Sony. Also, the manufacturer has installed a large battery capacity of 6380 mAh with 24W fast charging.

Okay, if the technical features turned out to be very good, then how will the device show itself in real life? Let’s figure it out right now with the unboxing and appearance.

Unboxing  and packaging

A device from Doogee came to me for review in the simplest white package. On the front, which is the company logo and slogan. The box itself was quite budget quality. But this is not surprising, since the price tag was low cost.

After unpacking, I found the following components – this is, directly, the smartphone itself, various instructions, a needle for the SIM tray and a protective transparent silicone case. In addition, the package also included a 24W power adapter and a Type-C charging cable.

Here I can also note that I liked the nice and soft transparent silicone case. Otherwise, the package was standard, like most devices in this price range.

Design, build quality and materials

The design features of the new smartphone model Doogee N40 Pro turned out to be very good. For example, a manufacturer offers a large number of color options to choose from. It is available in black, blue, green or brown. The choice is quite wide and I think everyone will be able to choose the color that they like the most.

In addition, the back of the device was made of material that is interesting to the touch. At first glance, you might think that this is real leather, but in reality it is matte corrugated plastic. This is a very pleasant material to use in life. After a short time of testing, the device remained intact and did not have any scratches.

If we talk about the build quality, then it was not bad, but I cannot call it perfect. Considering its cost of $155, the smartphone has been made in line with its price. Naturally, protection from water and dust is out of the question here. This is not a rugged or flagship smartphone for you.

As for usability, the Doogee N40 Pro smartphone will not be conveniently operated with one hand. But here the device lay in the hand well thanks to the rounded ends on the back. The dimensions of the smartphone model were the following parameters: 165.2 x 75.7 x 9.9 mm, and the weight was about 190 grams.

The back of the smartphone received four main camera modules and a large LED flash. The camera itself is located on a prominent glossy black plastic. It may look beautiful, but from a practical point of view, this plastic leaves a lot of scuffs and scratches. Therefore, it is best to use a smartphone with a protective silicone case.

On the right side of the device, I found the following elements: a power button with a built-in fingerprint scanner. Also, the usual volume rocker is located a little higher. On the opposite side of the smartphone, a hybrid slot was installed for dual nano SIM cards or one nano SIM card and a microSD memory card.

At the same time, there was nothing on the upper end of the Doogee N40 Pro smartphone. But at the bottom of the device, you can find familiar elements such as the main speaker, Type-C connection and microphone. Of the minuses, I can single out this lack of a headphone jack.

Nevertheless, the smartphone received a good fingerprint scanner. It worked pretty fast and accurately. Therefore, he did not cause any particular complaints about his work. But the sound quality was not at the highest level, since at 100% volume level, the sound made unpleasant creaks. But the volume margin will be enough for most users. Okay, I figured out the design features, now let’s talk about the screen and its functions.

Screen and image quality

On board the Doogee N40 Pro smartphone, a 6.52-inch screen with HD + or 1600 x 720 pixels resolution was installed on the front. In fact, it may seem that the screen has not received a very high resolution, as for this size. But in practice, this pixel density was sufficient for comfortable use.

If we talk about the color scheme, then it was very good. Colors were rendered in rich and vibrant shades. In addition, I even had a margin of maximum brightness, so I could easily use the N40 Pro smartphone outdoors.

In terms of settings, everything is standard here, but let me briefly go over it. The screen settings have received features such as automatic brightness control, reading mode, night mode, font size selection and much more. In general, the quality of the IPS matrix was typical, as on most devices in this price range. Also, during my testing, the screen on the new smartphone from Doogee did not cause me any particular complaints.

Performance, benchmark tests, games and OS

As I mentioned at the beginning of the review, the Helio P60 processor from MediaTek is responsible for the performance of the Doogee N40 Pro device. This chipset is not new, but even now it enjoys good popularity in low-cost devices. It was built using 12 nanometer technology and has eight cores in its execution. These are four ARM Cortex-A53 cores and four ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.

Looking at the benchmark tests, I was pleasantly surprised by the results. For example, in the most popular benchmark test in AnTuTu, the device scored about 211 thousand points. Also below you can see the results of other benchmark tests.

At the same time, the Mali-G72 MP video accelerator with a frequency of 700 MHz is responsible for the graphics. Yes, it may not be the most advanced video accelerator, but during testing I was able to play most of the different games. For example, PUBG Mobile ran flawlessly on medium graphics settings. Also in games, I did not observe any delays or other freezes.

I was also surprised by the large amount of internal memory, since the Doogee N40 Pro smartphone uses 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. In addition, you can easily use the microSD card slot. But the read and write speed of the built-in memory was not the fastest as for a modern device.

I can say the same about the wireless connection, the smartphone uses Bluetooth 4.2 and a dual-band Wi-Fi ac module. In addition, there was also a GPS module, but there was no NFC module on the smartphone from Doogee.

Ok, now let’s talk about the operating system and its features. Since I have a global version of the Doogee N40 Pro device, I had no particular complaints about the user interface. And yes, I note that the smartphone is controlled by Android 11 version.

Google services and applications have already been installed here. And the user interface itself had no extraneous programs. In general, the controls were very nimble and fast. I did not find any particular complaints about latency or freezes, but I cannot call the software optimized. Since the manufacturer still needs to work and work on this issue.

Camera and sample photos

The main camera module on the Doogee N40 Pro smartphone has received a 20-megapixel resolution from Sony. You can see examples of photos in the album below. As for the quality, the photos turned out to be very good in good sunlight. But when the sun goes down, the quality of the photos will drop significantly.

Also on the back of the device is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide and macro sensor. The latest sensor has a 2-megapixel resolution for bokeh shots.

But on the front side of the device, under the water drop notch, there is a 16-megapixel selfie camera from Samsung. Also, as with the main module, daytime photos were of very good quality. But in poor light, the photos were not very bright and clear.

The in-camera application has received the following modes: video, photo, beauty, bokeh, manual, ultra-wide and macro modes. At the same time, video recording on the main camera was with a resolution of 1080p and 30 frames per second. But there was no talk of any stabilization. But the selfie camera is capable of shooting video with a resolution of 720p and also 30 frames per second.

Battery and run time

Another advantage of the new Doogee N40 Pro smartphone is its large built-in 6380 mAh battery.

Doogee N40 Pro Review: Attractive Smartphone with Big Battery

Considering that a low-resolution screen is used on board the smartphone, it will be easy to expect a battery life of 2 business days or more. For example, for 1 hour of watching a video on Youtube, the device consumed 5% of the charge level. In fact, this is a very solid result for such a budget device.

Plus, I liked the fast charging feature with the 24W power adapter. That is, my smartphone was charged from 0 to 100% in 2.5 hours.

Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons

After one week of in-depth and detailed testing of the Doogee N40 Pro, I was quite surprised by the results I saw.

Doogee N40 Pro Review: Attractive Smartphone with Big Battery

For example, I can attribute to the positive aspects – this is a bright and interesting design of the smartphone. I also liked the presence of a decent screen, although with a low resolution.

In addition, the smartphone has a number of the following advantages: a good amount of RAM and built-in memory, not the worst performance, and there are also good battery life indicators.

The disadvantages of the smartphone are the lack of a headphone jack and an NFC module. I also did not like the work of the camera at night and how it shoots video. At the same time, during the day in bright sunlight, the photos were very good.

Price and where to buy cheaper?

Considering its pros and cons, I cannot say that the smartphone from Doogee turned out to be bad. But I can’t recommend it either, since this smartphone model will be useful for those people who need high battery life and a large amount of RAM and built-in memory.

As for the cost, you can currently buy the Doogee N40 Pro smartphone at a decent price of $155.99 with a 48% discount. Also below I will leave the main competitors, which will be a good alternative for today’s hero from the Doogee brand.
