Many of you know that the manufacturer Cubot produces budget smartphones with interesting designs, but rather weak performance. This time, the company really surprised me and released a flagship smartphone called Cubot X30.
I have previously tested a large number of models from Cubot. You can read my reviews at this link.
If the previously tested models of smartphones from Cubot were quite budgetary, then the new Cubot X30 device will cost you a pretty big price. The basic version with 6/128 GB of memory will cost $ 240, but the version with 8/256 GB of memory will cost $ 280.
Considering the initial cost, it is very difficult to call Cubot X30 a flagship. I believe that for this price, the new smartphone can be classified in the middle category of devices. Even if you look at the technical specifications, the flagship processor does not even smell.
For example, Cubot X30 received a 6.4-inch Full HD screen, an Helio P60 processor, five main camera sensors, and a 4200 mAh battery. Also, the smartphone stands out for its interesting and modern design, which really appealed to me.
Therefore, I want to share my impressions after several days of use. I have both positive and negative sides for the next X30 model. But you will learn about all this at the end of the review in the conclusions.

Unboxing and what comes inside with Cubot X30
A standard and typical box came to me for a review. It is made of black with the model name on the front and the main features of the smartphone on the back of the box. I can relate to them – this is the size and resolution of the screen, a hole-punch on the front, Android 10 OS, and other features.
Inside the box is the smartphone itself in a protective silicone transparent case, which was also protected by a shipping film.
In addition, the box contained instructions for use in various languages, including English. I also found a Type-C cable, a SIM tray needle, and a power adapter.
Considering its overpriced, the quality of the package remains the same as on budget smartphones with a price tag of $100. Here I would like to see a slightly better box and a premium delivery since the price is still quite high. In general, the equipment itself is pretty standard and there is everything you need, including even a protective case.
Design, Build Quality and Workmanship
Of course, the appearance of the Cubot X30 makes me very happy, as it received an impeccable design. For example, on the back and front of the smartphone, there is a protective glass, which already gives a high premium.
I can also note that the rear panel has a very strong mirroring. In the upper left corner, there is a rectangular island in which there are five main camera modules and one LED flash.
From the minus, I can note that the camera module sticks out pretty well, so the device needs to be worn with a protective case. Another drawback is the strong soiling, so any fingerprints will remain on the glass.
Now I want to draw your attention to the front of the smartphone. Here is a 6.4-inch bezel-less large screen. It received Full HD resolution or 2310 x 1080 pixels. The screen aspect ratio was 19.5: 9, the viewing angles are very good, so the brightness itself is enough even in sunny weather.
I can also note that the bezels around the screen are very small, but there is a small chin at the bottom. In addition, there is a round cutout or hole-punch display for the front camera in the upper left corner of the screen. The front side of the Cubot X30 looks very modern and here I have no strong negative points.
On the control buttons, the manufacturer Cubot ruined a little to stand out. For example, a fingerprint scanner with a power button is located on the right side of the smartphone. And on the left side, there is a slot for SIM cards and memory cards with a rocker with edge adjustment.
Yes, I like that the volume is located separately from the power button on the left side – this is a very convenient solution. But most users make a joint fingerprint scanner button and power button.
On the bottom of the Cubot X30, there is only a Type-C port for charging, a speaker, and the main microphone.
The dimensions of the smartphone are not quite small, for example, Cubot X30 received 157.05 x 76.44 x 8.5 mm in dimensions and 212 grams of weight. Thanks to the large bezel-less screen, I could comfortably watch movies or play games, but using the device with one hand is very problematic.
Performance, benchmarks and user interface of Cubot X30
Given its price of $ 230, the new Cubot X30 smartphone received a rather outdated Mediatek Helio P60 processor. This chipset was introduced at the beginning of 2018, so it is difficult to call it new. But most Chinese manufacturers still use it for their new smartphone models.
A little about this processor, Helio P60 received 12-nanometer chipset technology and it has eight cores. Where four of them are Cortex-A73 and the other four are Cortex-A53 clocked at 2.0 GHz.
The Mali-G72 MP3 graphics accelerator is capable of launching the most modern and demanding games. But do not forget that the Cubot X30 smartphone is not a gaming one and spending a long time with games can lead to overheating.
The amount of memory is quite a lot, for example, the smartphone comes in two versions. This is 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, there is also a version with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.
If we talk about wireless communication, then in this regard, the Cubot X30 smartphone has a great advantage over other Chinese models. Primarily, the device is built for the global market and has all available networks for most countries. The quality of communication in my country was without any questions, and the GPS worked stably and accurately.
I can also note that the Cubot X30 received contactless payment with the NFC module. This function is gaining high popularity in European countries, so it will definitely not be superfluous.
The user interface of the new model from Cubot is very similar to the stock one. The smartphone runs on the latest Android 10 operating system. There are already installed Google applications, such as Youtube, maps, and much more. Synchronization with Google account was simple and without error.
In general, the user interface is quite stable and fast. It received a large number of useful features and options. Also in the settings menu, you can find gesture control and other useful options.
Camera and photo quality Cubot X30
The manufacturer decided to stand out and installed five modules in the main camera on the Cubot X30. The main sensor Samsung S5KGM1 received a 48-megapixel resolution. The quality of the photos for the main module is pretty good and I have no strong complaints about it.
The second module has a 16-megapixel resolution and is designed for ultra-wide shots. Again, here I have those strong comments, the photos are bright with vibrant colors and a wide viewing angle.
The third and fourth modules have 5- and 2-megapixel resolution for macro and bokeh modes. But the fifth module received a 0.3-megapixel resolution, but I did not find for what purpose it is intended.
Therefore, five camera modules – this is most likely a marketing move. Even with the big sense of the 0.3-megapixel sensor, I do not see the point.
But if we talk about the front camera, then it received a 32-megapixel resolution. Indeed, the quality of the photos is pretty good if you shoot them with the correct and bright light.
As usual, I leave an example of several photos taken on the Cubot X30 in the album below.
Battery test, discharge and charge time Cubot X30
Considering the fact that a 4200 mAh battery was installed on the Cubot X30, you should not expect more than 1.5 days of battery life.
In any case, Mediatek processors are not famous for their high power consumption and a large bright screen with Full HD resolution will not give you a good result in battery life.
As my practice has shown when I actively used a smartphone throughout the day. For example, I played games, tested benchmarks, took photos, then at the end of the day the smartphone was discharged to almost 15%.
Naturally, with normal use, you can achieve 2 days of work, but you need to use your smartphone quite rarely.
Charging time was about 3 hours via the 10W power adapter.
Conclusion, reviews, pros, and cons of Cubot X30
Cubot X30 is an irresistible smartphone that has got a nice look with premium materials in its execution.
Although the protected glass is quickly smeared from fingerprints. Also, five modules in the main camera are just a marketing ploy, since the fifth sensor does not have any meaning.
On the other hand, the smartphone pleased me with a good and bright screen with Full HD resolution, high-quality photos, and not a bad battery life.
By cons, I can include – it is a slow charge and a rather high price.
Price and where to buy cheaper Cubot X30
Right now, you can buy Cubot X30 for $ 238.58 for version 6/128 GB of memory and for $ 280.69 for 8/256 GB of memory.
But I cannot advise buying it since the price tag for the model is very high, such a smartphone can be bought much cheaper from other manufacturers. Below I will leave a list of smartphones that will be an order of magnitude better.
