Chuwi produces sometimes good and sometimes very raw devices. Today I want to tell you about my experience of using a new tablet called Chuwi HiPad Pro.
This is an interesting model of the device and its appearance reminds me of the iPad Pro. But will the new Chinese clone from Chuwi be so interesting? Perhaps, but I will immediately note that it was not without flaws and nuances.
As for the cost, you can currently buy the Chuwi HiPad Pro device for $300. But I have to say that I bought this tablet model for $199 during the last summer sale. Therefore, $300 is not the sweetest price for such a device.
In terms of technical specifications, the tablet stands out with a large 10.8-inch Full HD screen with an aspect ratio of 16:10. In addition, I liked the look of the device, especially when it comes to the minimal borders around the screen. Also, the tablet from Chuwi was equipped with a Snapdragon 662 processor with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory.
The most demanded feature of any tablet is support for 4G LTE network. I can also highlight this is the latest version of the Android 11 operating system and a 7000 mAh built-in battery. In addition, the tablet received four speakers and much more.
Thus, from the technical features, the Chinese tablet model from Chuwi looks very good. But is everything so good in real life? Let’s talk about this tablet model in more detail and I want to start my research with unboxing.

Unboxing and packaging
The Chuwi HiPad Pro tablet comes in the most typical packaging, like most of its other predecessors. This is a cardboard package with only the company’s brand on the front. But a sticker with the main technical features was glued on the side edge.
At the same time, it should be said that the box itself was not made so badly and was supplied in thick cardboard material. Inside the package, besides the tablet itself, I found a Type-C charging cable, a 10W power adapter and instructions.
You can also buy an additional stylus and a separate keyboard. In addition, the keyboard will be used as a protective case. Therefore, if you have the opportunity, it is better to buy the keyboard right away. In addition, the price of the keyboard was only about $30.
Design, build quality and materials
The new Chuwi HiPad Pro tablet model comes in only one color. This dark blue version looks very stylish and harmonious, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, you will not find other types of flowers here.
According to the materials used, the body of the tablet was made of an alloy of aluminum and rubberized material. On the back of the device, you can easily notice these materials and they differ slightly in color shade and have a separation – a chrome strip.
But the build quality was not particularly pleasing to me. For example, the tray for a SIM card and a memory card was not installed very well and had a slight backlash. Also, I cannot say that the buttons were pressed with good responsiveness and smoothness. But in general, I did not find any other comments in the assembly.
If we talk about dimensions, the Chuwi tablet received the following dimensions: 245 x 157.7 x 7.2 mm, and the weight of the device was about 460 grams. That’s not as much as it would be for a large 10.8 inch tablet. Therefore, with transportation or use, you obviously will not have any special problems.
The back of the Chuwi HiPad Pro device received an 8-megapixel main camera module and an LED flash nearby. At the same time, the selfie camera received a resolution of 5 megapixels and it was located in the round cutout of the screen. You can see examples of pictures in the album below, but the quality of the photos was not the best in its class.
This is an unusual decision on the part of the manufacturer, but I cannot say that the front camera looked bad. On the contrary, thanks to this solution, the frames around the screen were only 5.5 mm. In fact, I’ve always wanted to get a modern tablet with minimal bezels, and here’s the budget tablet from Chuwi that pleased me this time.
Ok, now let’s talk about external connections and control buttons. If you look at the top of the end when you hold the tablet horizontally, you will notice a volume rocker with a microphone hole. But the lower edge of the device received a slot for dual nano SIM cards or one nano SIM card and a memory card.
Meanwhile, the right side of the tablet has a power button, a Type-C connection and dual speakers. At the same time, dual more speakers can be found on the left side of the device case. As for the sound quality, the tablet played pretty well, but I can’t call the sound loud. Therefore, even though four speakers were used on board, the sound from them was not particularly loud.
Another small drawback can be attributed to the lack of a 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones. Therefore, only wireless earbuds can be used here. It’s good that the Chuwi HiPad Pro has a built-in Bluetooth 5.0 module on board. In addition, if you buy a separate keyboard, it will connect via Bluetooth. Well, I figured out the appearance, now let’s talk about the quality of the screen and its features.
Screen and image quality
On the front of the Chuwi HiPad Pro device, a 10.8-inch IPS screen with Full HD resolution was installed. But due to not the most correct aspect ratio, namely 16:10, the pixel standard differed from its counterparts tablets – it is 1940 x 1212 pixels.
As for the color reproduction of the image, I did not reveal any special problems. But the detail in the image was a little blurry. That is, the picture seemed not quite clear, although at the same time I cannot say that Full HD resolution is the worst resolution that can be found.
But the positive thing for me was the maximum brightness value of 660 nits. Therefore, you can easily use the tablet screen outdoors during bright and sunny weather.
There were standard and familiar features in the screen settings. For example, in addition to changing the brightness level or choosing an automatic brightness mode, you can activate Reading Mode, Night Mode, or use a dark UI theme.
Performance, benchmarks, games and OS
But for the performance of the new model of the Chuwi HiPad Pro tablet, there is a good processor from Qualcomm, namely the Snapdragon 662. At the same time, there were a total of eight cores, two of which were high-speed Cortex-A73 with a clock frequency of 2.0 GHz, and the other six were energy-efficient Cortex -A55 clocked at 1.8GHz.
The technical process was with 11 nanometer technology and therefore it is not as bad as for its budget class of devices. If you look at the benchmark results, then in the AnTuTu test, the Chuwi tablet scored about 217 thousand points. This is not such a bad result, you can also see the results of other benchmark tests below.
The integrated graphics of the Adreno 610 didn’t get the best performance. But I cannot say that these graphics were not enough for everyday tasks. For example, I’ve been able to play games like PUBG Mobile, Call Of Duty Mobile, and even Genshin Impact. Then I did not notice any special problems during the games, everything started quickly and smoothly. In addition, there was no overheating of the tablet either, and the temperature of both the processor and the case was in working order.
In terms of internal storage, the Chuwi HiPad Pro uses 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage in UFS 2.1 format. If the built-in memory is not enough for you, then you can easily use the slot for a microSD memory card. At the same time, the read speed was about 420 MBps, and the write speed was about 180 MBps.
If we talk about wireless communication, then the HiPad Pro tablet had a built-in dual-band Wi-Fi module, Bluetooth 5.0 and even had a GPS module. But the last module did not work as well as I would like. The quality of the GPS signal in the room was not caught at all, but on the street the accuracy was low and the number of satellites was minimal. The rest of the modules worked without any problems.
In addition, the device has an LTE 4G network function. Therefore, you can not only make or receive phone calls, but also always be online thanks to 4G Internet. During my testing, there were no particular complaints and the connection worked stably and without any particular complaints.
But the work of the user interface was similar to that of a device 3 years ago. Yes, I see that the Chuwi HiPad Pro tablet uses Android 11 version, but the appearance of icons, settings and other features did not look like this is the latest generation operating system.
Apart from that, I would like to get some better process optimization. Since there were slight delays, I don’t think that this is due to the performance of the processor. I also cannot say that Chuwi will offer over the air updates for its new HiPad Pro device in the future.
Battery and run time
Inside the case of the new model of the Chuwi HiPad Pro tablet, a built-in battery with a capacity of 7000 mAh was used. This is not a bad indicator for its slim design.
In practice, the tablet can easily last up to 2 days with active use. Or in other words, the result of the screen on time was about 9-10 hours. Therefore, you should not have problems with battery life.
But the full charge time was just over 3.5 hours. This is not surprising since the manufacturer only offers a 10W power adapter out of the box.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
Chuwi HiPad Pro is, on the one hand, a good tablet considering its performance and other features. But the device also has many drawbacks and let’s talk about them in more detail.
For example, from the minuses I can single out this lack of a headphone jack and there is also no video output. Also, I didn’t really like the build quality, but the materials used were pretty good. Like most tablets, the camera didn’t get a particularly impressive picture or video quality.
In addition, I did not like the optimization of the operating system and the very quiet sound of the four speakers.
Okay, but the merits I can attribute to this bright 660 nits screen with good color rendition and contrast. But the detail was not very high, as for its Full HD resolution.
I also liked the very minimal bezels around the screen, which were around 5.5mm. In addition, the case turned out to be quite thin and light, for its class of devices. And the performance was enough, as for modern games and tasks, but with low graphics settings.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
As I mentioned at the beginning of the review, the price tag for the new model of the Chuwi HiPad Pro tablet was about $199 at the time of the auction offer. Now the manufacturer asks for $299 for the device, which is a lot.
Therefore, I can only recommend this tablet to you at a price of about $200, and then, if you will not be greatly upset by the shortcomings of the device. Thus, I will leave a link below to the store and when there is a promotion with a good offer, this tablet will not disappoint you.
