Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

Recently, we have begun to see a lot of rugged phones in the mobile device market, and thus they are getting more and more popular. In our review, we would like to tell about the new phone called Blackview BV9600 Pro.

This is a new generation of the model, we previously reviewed the previous models from Blackview, such as the BV800 Pro, BV9000 Pro, BV9600 Pro. These devices are still popular for their reliability and work well.

What got new in this generation Blackview BV9600 Pro: this is a large, almost bezel-less timeless display of 6.21 inches with a notch on top of the screen, a new Helio P60 processor, 6/128 GB memory version and of course IP68 protection.

Blackview is specialized in launching ultra-resistant rugged phones. A line of devices that can withstand any knock or fall thanks to the different protections they have. The last example? The Blackview BV9600 Pro, an all-terrain that we have tested for two weeks and that has left us with a very good taste.

Blackview BV9600 Pro: Design and Appearance

In terms of the design of Blackview BV9600 Pro, we have a fairly large phone. With measures of 162.9 x 81.4 x 12.85 cm and a weight of 268 grams, it is clear that the new Blackview BV9600 Pro is a very robust phone. Remember that the phone is oriented to withstand blows and falls.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

The body of the phone is made of several materials. On the one hand we have the metallic part formed by lateral bands that form a metallic structure that surrounds the terminal and on the other hand, we have a material similar to the rubber that serves to absorb the impacts.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

To say that the phone is quite pleasant to the touch and the sensation in the hand is good, although its excessive weight is noticeable when holding it and it weighs a bit on the user experience.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

In the front, we find the screen wrapped in some large frames if we compare it with conventional phones, but as I am talking about a rugged phone, this type of frames is quite normal.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

On the sides, we see the inscription waterproof and shockproof, which means that the phone is protected from falling and water.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

Going to the right side is where we will see the power and volume rocker. Also located below the fingerprint sensor, the side for the sensor is a good and convenient solution.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

In addition to a button dedicated to the camera of the Blackview BV9600 Pro on the left side with a slot for SIM cards and micro SD memory.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

This button is really useful for taking photos in certain environments without removing your gloves or if, for example, you have your hands full of mud. A detail to thank.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

To say that all the buttons offer a good route and a resistance to pressure more than correct, besides having a very premium look with that metallic finish.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

Unlike other models, the Blackview BV9600 Pro does not have protective caps to prevent the phone from getting wet so you can use it quietly without having to worry about closing the covers when you want to get in the water.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

And remember that the phone has IP68 certification so we can get the phone without having to worry about anything.

Finally in the back is where the Dual rear cameras with 16.0MP and 8MP sensors are located and just below we will see the Blackview logo.

It is also worth mentioning that the back cover of the phone is made of glass, which is protected from falling and scratches, so here you can not worry.

Blackview BV9600 Pro: Display

The AMOLED screen reaches 6.2 inches with Full HD Plus 2248 x 1080 pixels resolution and signed by Sharp. This panel, which has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, offers vivid and clear colors inviting you to enjoy multimedia content in it.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

As for aspect ratio here is 19: 9. Recently, all rugged phones started to do notch on top of the screen. Is it good? Or even beautiful? I do not know, it doesn’t look as cool as at the beginning or middle of this year 2018.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

Since already a large notch is out of the trend, and very few people want to use such a chip. But in general, if you are a notch fan, then this is a good option to increase the aspect ratio.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

The viewing angles of the screen of the Blackview BV9600 Pro in our analisis are more than correct and the brightness level allows the phone to be used in any environment, however bright it may be so the work done by Blackview in this aspect is quite correct.

In general, as for a rugged phone, this is a good and high-quality screen with an almost modern appearance, since we know that rugged phones are getting a bit of a late trend.

Blackview BV9600 Pro: Hardware and Performance

In terms of technical characteristics, we find a fairly complete Blackview BV9600 Pro phone and that becomes part of the mid-range of the sector.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

In this way, the BV9600 Pro has a new Helio P60 processor along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage with supported microSD cards up to 128GB.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

As for the synthetic tests, the processor shows a good result. For example, in AnTuTu, you can see about 136.000 points, which is comparable to the Snapdragon 636 processor.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

With this configuration, the phone has been able to move any game or application without problems, although they require great resources to be executed.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

Yes, the loading times have been slower than with other phones, but I’m telling you that I have not had any LAG problems or any break, so in that aspect, I have nothing to criticize.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

As for the real performance, the phone can play hard games, but with medium graphics settings, such as PUBG mobile or Asphalt 9.

Blackview BV9600 Pro: Software

The performance is good for a security phone, but as for the operating system, is everything so good here?

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

The phone is controlled on pure Android 8.1 Oreo, it is a stable version of the system, in which we did not notice any glitches. Throughout the test, everything worked smoothly and well.

It is also worth noting that the phone has many additional applications that will help with survival, such as a compass and more.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

In general, there are not any Chinese applications that would not be needed, they will all be needed and every user, for example, like me, was glad to see them here.

Blackview BV9600 Pro: Camera

Finally, I will talk about the cameras of the Blackview BV9600 Pro in our test. To start the device has an 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, and dual rear camera 16 and 8-megapixel with also f/2.0 aperture on both sensors.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

Note that the camera interface of the Blackview BV9600 Pro has a number of options, including the increasingly essential professional mode that allows you to manually configure different parameters of the camera, such as balance, white balance or depth.

Make some more professional photographs. Anyway if yours is not photography, quiet that with the automatic mode you will have more than enough.

In general, the camera works quite well, offering very good captures provided that we are in a well-lit environment.

The colors of BV9600 Pro look vivid and clear without a trace of saturation. Indoors, whenever there is good light, the photographs are still quite good without the existence of grain.

Of course, as the vast majority of phones, when night falls the dreaded noise appears.

Blackview BV9600 Pro: Connectivity

Now I would like to say a few words about the network and communication in the Blackview BV9600 Pro in this test.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

In general, when talking here, everything is good, the other person hears you and you hear him without any extra noise.

You can use Dual Nano SIM cards with 4G support. There is also GPS with Dual Satellite Positioning System, so in our tests, GPS and GLONASS worked quickly, and the satellites appeared almost instantly.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

Also worth mentioning is the availability of NFC for wireless payment. It is very convenient recently to use not cards, but simply your own phones for payment in a store or other places.

Blackview BV9600 Pro: Battery

As for the autonomy, say that its 5580mAh equip on Blackview BV9600 Pro phone with up to several days of use.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

I have managed to use these three days with moderate use, but when I have started to use it more intensively it has arrived without problems two days.

In general, as for autonomy, this is very good, since there is a new 12nm processor with energetic stability, then I have no questions.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

As for charging, as you could already see from the design here we have a Type-C port at the bottom of a 18W fast charging device.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

For half an hour of charge, the phone was charged by about 60%, and this is a good result for such a capacious battery.

Blackview BV9600 Pro: Conclusions and Reviews

The regular Blackview BV9600 Pro phone showed itself from the good side of our tests, so we can definitely say that the last generation did its best and made a beautiful phone with protective properties.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

The performance with the new Helio P60 processor has turned out good and stable work with 6GB of RAM. This is enough for multitasking, and there will be no memory problems with 128GB.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

Autonomous work and fast charging are very pleased, as the last time, manufacturers even use the usual micro USB, but it’s good that it is not in our case.

Blackview BV9600 Pro Review: Glass Rugged Phone with IP68 Protection

A very complete phone that has great resistance to bumps and falls. The only one I can find is its large size, although considering that it resists any knock and fall and the fact that it has IP68 certification compensates this size.

Blackview BV9600 Pro: Price and Where to buy cheaper?

As for the price? As I mentioned at the beginning of the review, the price is a bit high compared to competitors.

Now you can buy a Blackview BV9600 Pro phone at a good and low price for only $ 449.99 at a discount.

But if you compare the competitors, the price is not small, but here it is necessary to understand that this is an AMOLED display, a rear glass panel with IP68 protection.

Therefore, we see that the price meets its specifications since other competitors do not have this.

  1. Hi,
I have had a BlackView 9600 pro for about 2.5 weeks now, and the phone is ok…. except, the noise-cancellation is not working properly. If the phone is on the external speaker and if I and the other person talk at the same time, my voice gets muted (while I can still hear the other person clearly). This problem does not exist when the phone is used with headphones. Anybody else has had this problem with the 9600 pro?
