Baseus S1 Pro Review: TWS Earbuds with Bluetooth 5.1 and ANC

Earlier, I was able to test ultra budget wireless earbuds from Baseus. But today this brand has introduced an already more expensive model to the market and let’s find out what it is capable of. And yes, my hero today is TWS earbuds called Baseus S1 Pro.

Most companies try to surprise their users. For example, they make high-quality sound with surround bass. Also trying to add various options and functions. Baseus followed the same plan.

But before I talk about the main features of the new generation of wireless earbuds, I want to share with you its cost. The Baseus S1 Pro is currently priced at around $ 65. Yes, this is not as nice a sum of money as, for example, the WM01 or W09 models that I tested earlier.

Now let me explain why Baseus put up such a price tag on their new products. The first feature is the presence of active noise cancellation ANC and transparency mode. Also, the new earbud model uses a wireless connection Bluetooth 5.1 version and a decent battery life.

But the most important questions remain open – how comfortable will the earbuds be, how well are they assembled and how effectively will they play? Therefore, if you are interested in learning about all of the above issues and not only, then I suggest starting your in-depth and detailed review.

Unboxing and packaging

The Baseus S1 Pro earbuds are delivered in a pretty beautiful and most importantly durable package. This is a small box that is white. On the front of it, there is a drawing of earbuds and a charging box with the name of the company and model.

Inside the package, I found the following components – these are, directly, the earbuds themselves and the charging box. Also, the package included replaceable silicone ear tips, instructions for use in English and Chinese, and a Type-C format charging cable.

Considering its cost, I really liked the package itself. And especially how the manufacturer Baseus presented its new earbud model. Since the first impression of the packaging caused only positive emotions in me. This is really a premium package with a good package. But now let’s find out how well the earbuds fit in the ear canal.

Design, build quality and materials

The appearance of the new model of Baseus S1 Pro earbuds has received a rather interesting design. I especially liked the color of the device. I have a blue version, but there is also a gray color option.

The earbuds themselves were made in a combination of two plastics – matte on the outside of the case and glossy plastic on the inside of the earbuds. As you may know from my other reviews, I am not a fan of glossy plastic. Since there are many fingerprints, dust and other troubles on its surface.

But I can’t say that the quality of the plastic used on the S1 Pro was the worst. Other than that, I liked the build quality. That is, while wearing, the S1 Pro headphone model did not emit extraneous squeaks and sounds. But the manufacturer does not say anything about protection from sweat or water. Therefore, this model should not be used in a humid environment. Although I don’t think sweat or light rain will ruin the Baseus earbuds.

As for the wearability, I did not identify any particular problems during my testing. It is worth mentioning here that the weight of one earbud does not exceed 4.5 grams. Therefore, even long-term wearing will not cause you much discomfort. In my case, I could easily listen to music for up to 2 hours, but after that I needed a short break. Do not forget that these are in-ear vacuum earbuds.

In terms of control, everything is standard, like with other TWS earbuds. The touchpad was located on the outside of the headphone case. Meanwhile, a microphone hole and two charging contacts were installed on the bottom of the leg. Another microphone was used on the outside near the touchpad and serves for the transparency mode. But on the inside of the device there is nothing, except for the designation of the channel.

If we talk about the charging case, then there are also some interesting features. For example, the Baseus S1 Pro earbud box was made entirely of matte plastic. I also liked how well the case was assembled. For example, the lid has practically no backlash. But the click sound was not as premium as on the more expensive TWS earbuds.

On the front of the case, you can see the company’s brand name, and there is also an LED indicator of the battery level. The back side of the charging box received a pairing button, and at the bottom there is a Type-C charging connection. Among other useful features, I can single out the presence of wireless charging box. But I’ll tell you about the charging time a little later. Now I propose to find out about the signal quality and touch control.

Connection, latency and control

The main feature of the Baseus S1 Pro earbuds is a good wireless connection under the Bluetooth 5.1 version. Also, earbuds received support for AAC and SBC audio codecs. From my tests, I did not find any significant problems with the signal transmission quality from the smartphone. In general, the signal was stable and did not show any dips even at a distance of 10 meters.

In the next step, I checked the latency level. As it turned out, the S1 Pro earbud model copes well with the tasks. That is, the latency was minimal and I could easily play shooters or watch videos on YouTube.

But there is no mobile application on board the earbuds, so you will not be able to change the touch control functions. Okay, let’s talk a little more about the controls themselves.

  • Holding down for about 1.5 seconds switches modes from normal to ANC or ENC.
  • Double tap produces – play, pause, accept or reject a call.
  • A triple tap will bring up the voice assistant function.

From this, I can conclude that the disadvantage of this earbud model is the lack of functions for adjusting the volume or switching tracks.

Sound and microphone quality

The new Baseus S1 Pro TWS earbuds have a built-in 10mm dynamic driver. This is a good size for its class, and believe me, the maximum volume level will be enough for you.

During my testing, I especially liked the sound of the low frequency range. At the same time, the earbuds produced quite good and massive bass. Lovers of dense and deep bass will definitely appreciate this headphone model.

But the middle frequencies also played well, but the manufacturer squeezed them a little. Therefore, vocals or other sonorous instruments do not play as pronounced as in more expensive models of wireless earbuds. The same goes for the high frequency range.

Remember that Baseus S1 Pro also got Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode? So let’s talk about these features in more detail.

First, the ANC function does a pretty good job of dealing with ambient sounds. I felt comfortable listening to music while traveling on public transport. The rumble of the car was almost inaudible. But again, I cannot name the earbuds with the perfect ANC function. For example, more expensive and premium brands have a better active noise canceling function.

In the meantime, the transparency mode works well without any issues. That is, I could easily listen to music and communicate with my interlocutors. In addition, this mode will be useful when walking through the noisy streets of your city.

Okay, another interesting question – how well does the microphone work? Well what can I say, in a quiet place I had no problems with the microphone at all. But in noisy places, especially near streets, bus stops and other places, the interlocutors heard quite clearly, both my voice and the world around us.

Battery and run time

The battery capacity in each Baseus S1 Pro earbud is 40 mAh. At the same time, the manufacturer guarantees about 5 hours of operation on a single charge. During my measurements, the earbuds were able to last about 4 hours and 50 minutes. This is a very similar indicator and I am glad about it.

But it is worth noting that this is the battery life with the active noise canceling function turned off. If you want to activate ANC mode, then the operating time will be reduced to 4 hours. I can also note that the total battery life using the charging box will allow you to achieve a result of about 22 hours. The battery capacity of the charging box is 380 mAh.

Now I propose to talk about charging time. As I mentioned, the charging box can be charged in two ways. The first is through a Type-C connection and the second is through wireless charging. If in the first case, a full charge took me 1.5 hours, then in the second – 2 hours.

Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons

After testing the new Baseus S1 Pro headphone model, I was left with a positive impression. But there were also some drawbacks.

Baseus S1 Pro Review: TWS Earbuds with Bluetooth 5.1 and ANC

First, let’s find out the main advantages of Baseus earbuds. The first thing that won me over with the S1 Pro earbud model is its appearance and pretty good build quality. I also liked the way the earbuds fit in my ear canal.

Other aspects that I would like to highlight. This is the presence of a new Bluetooth 5.1 connection, 10 mm dynamic driver with good and dynamic sounds, especially bass. Also, the work of active noise cancellation and transparency mode will not cause you strong disgust.

In addition, the battery life is still a strong point, both for its class of TWS earbuds, as well as the level of latency in games or YouTube.

But the disadvantages I can attribute is the lack of an automatic pause sensor, the function of switching tracks and volume level. Also, I can not highlight the strong side of the sound of the middle and high frequency range.

Price and where to buy cheaper?

Currently, you are able to order Baseus S1 Pro earbuds at a good price for only $65.99 with a 40% discount.

Definitely, I can recommend wireless earbuds for purchase from the Baseus brand, as they have many positive aspects. But I will also leave a list of competitors that can also be a good choice when buying a new earbud model.
