A little-known Chinese brand AUN previously met on my test, namely a budget projector with a native resolution of Full HD. Today I want to continue the story, but with a newer model of an inexpensive projector, which was called AUN AKEY 6.
If you are interested in reading about other versions of budget projectors with a price tag of $200, then you can follow this link.
Today we are talking about an inexpensive projector AUN AKEY 6, whose price is about $190. I will also tell my impression about the main features, technical specifications, and most importantly its pros and cons.
Let’s look at the specifications. The model of the new inexpensive projector from China boasts the presence of a native resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, as well as a high brightness level of 6800 lumens. The maximum permissible projection screen size is about 200 inches, which is pretty good.
Judging from the specifications, the AKEY 6 and F30 are almost no different, but let’s find out how in real life the picture is displayed on the projection screen? But before I tell you about the quality of the picture, I want to start my test and complete the box.

Unboxing
The appearance of the box is not the most presentable, but all the components were well packaged and the projector came to be intact and without a single scratch.
A projector sketch was drawn on one side of the box, and there was also a model name with the designation Full HD LED projector.
As I already mentioned, the projector itself was supplied in protective foam. Also included was a standard list of components. This is an HDMI cable, a charging power cable, an old AV cable, remote control, and instructions. I also found an extra pair of glasses for 3D movies and an adapter for the power cable.
Despite its low price, the equipment of the AUN AKEY 6 projector is quite wide. I liked the availability of quality components, and also that the manufacturer took care of reliable packaging for its customers.
Design
Given that the price tag is around $200, the new AUN AKEY 6 projector model looks a lot more expensive. First, the body of the device is made of white matte plastic, on which fingerprints do not remain.
There is a gray mesh on the front and back of the projector. It gives the device a modern and fashionable look.
On top of the AKEY 6 is a large company logo, control buttons, and a focus and tilt ring. By the control button, everything is clear here, and managing them is very simple. Also, the focus ring itself moves easily and does not jam, as is the case with cheaper projectors.
The front part received an LED lens and it is protected by a plastic cover.
The rear panel of the device has basic external interfaces, such as a VGA port, two USB ports, an infrared sensor for the control panel, and AV and 3.5 mm audio jacks. A little lower is the port for the power cable. Therefore, if you do not like the built-in speakers onboard the projector, then you can easily connect external speakers for better sound quality.
The right side of the projector has two HDMI ports and one slot for a memory card. To the left on the same side, there are ventilation openings through which warm air comes out. At the same time, cold air enters through the left end of the device.
There is an extendable foot at the bottom of the projector to set the correct angle. There are also four rubber feet and they prevent slipping on the work surface. In addition, there are holes here and you can install the bracket for mounting on the ceiling.
The remote control will be the most standard, like most other models of inexpensive projectors. It has all the necessary control buttons and is powered by two AAA batteries.
In general, I really liked the look of the new projector. I can also note that he received standard sizes, as for a home projector – 357.8 x 352 x 194.5 mm and weighing about 3.1 kg. Well, we figured out the design, but let’s look at what the projector is capable of in the dark and in the lightroom.
Menu and Image Quality
AUN AKEY 6 comes with a primitive operating system since there is no operating system such as Android on board. But this is not surprising since the price tag is low.
The main menu offers four sections – movies, music, photos, and text. Below is a list of the connection used, for example, a flash drive or an HDMI connection.
As for the noise from the AUN AKEY 6 projector, it is negligible. At a distance of half a meter, the noise was about 45 dB. Thus, when watching movies or games, the noise from the projector will not bother you at all.
For the test, I connected my TV box and began to test the quality of watching videos on YouTube. The first thing that catches your eye is a rather bright and juicy picture. At the same time, the colors are very saturated and quite contrasting. This is not surprising since the projector has a native resolution of 1080p.
I also conducted a series of tests with the lights on and off. I was quite surprised by the result since the brightness from the projector is very high.
According to the manufacturer, the brightness was 6800 lumens and the quality with the light on is almost the same as with the light off.
Next, I played several games, such as DIVISION 2, UFC 3, and other games. Of course, genres such as a shooter will not play comfortably, as the picture will be a bit blurry. But it’s interesting to play other genres of games, especially on such a large screen.
Below I will leave a few of my examples where you can compare picture quality with other models of projectors in the same price range. The result is obvious and AUN AKEY 6 shows a much brighter picture and higher contrast.
I also looked at a few pictures on focusing and color, then I can say with confidence that the AKEY 6 projector is worth the money.
The sound quality, as for the average user, will be quite sufficient. Also, the volume level is very high. But if you are a music lover, then there will not be enough bass in the sound and there will be wheezing at high volume.
Conclusion and Reviews
AUN AKEY 6 is a budget projector with a native Full HD resolution that really surprised me. It showed itself from a positive point of view and has several advantages over other models.
I really liked the high level of brightness. 6800 lumens will be enough even when using the device during daylight. For example, during presentations at school or at work.
Yes, this projector is not compact and does not include a transport bag. Therefore, the main purpose is to use the device as a home theater.
A large number of external interfaces will allow you to connect any device. Let’s say you can watch your favorite movies or TV shows, or play games through the game console.
Price and Where to buy cheaper?
Now the price of AUN AKEY 6 is very interesting and favorable. For example, you can purchase and order a projector for $188.56 – the basic version and $ 226.60 with Android OS.
Given its price and technical specs, such as brightness and native Full HD resolution, I can definitely recommend a projector for purchase.
