Today I want to talk about the maximum version of smartwatches in the GTR line, which is called Amazfit GTR 3 Pro.
Earlier, I was able to test the regular version of Amazfit GTR 3 and Amazfit GTS 3. Therefore, you can read about this watch following the link here.
In this article, you can find out about the build quality of the updated generation of smartwatches, as well as the main advantages and disadvantages. I will also compare both Amazfit GTR 3 models with the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro, and tell you whether the improved version is worth your attention or not.
If we talk about the cost, then the price tag for the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro was about $229. Let me remind you that the regular generation of GTR 3 smartwatches will cost you $179. That is, the difference is quite significant and I think you want to know exactly why?
First of all, the improved model of smartwatches from Amazfit has received the following features. It is a 1.45 inch AMOLED screen with 60Hz refresh rate and 1000 nits brightness. In addition, the watch has a large number of functions and features. That is, with the help of the watch, you can not only monitor your health, but also analyze various sports indicators.
Naturally, the device uses the latest generation 3.0 PPG sensor. Also by design features, the watch with the Pro version has a crown for more convenient control and use. But the most important feature in the new generation of GTR 3 Pro watches is the Bluetooth calling function. Thus, if you want to know all the functionality of smartwatches from Amazfit, then I suggest reading this review in full.

Unboxing and packaging
Like the basic version of the third generation of smartwatches from Amazfit, the version with the Pro ending received an identical packaging design. This is a black and red package, where a drawing of the device with the name of the model and company is displayed on the front. Also here you can see the main features of the device.
At the same time, the main part of the box was made of a fairly durable, but already white cardboard material. Therefore, there should be no problems during transportation.
Inside the package, I found the following components: directly, the smartwatch itself with a silicone strap. Also in separate compartments lay a docking station with a magnetic two-pin connection and instructions for use. That is, the equipment was standard, as on most products from the Amazfit brand.
Design, build quality and materials
The manufacturer Amazfit offers two types of color for the new generation of smartwatches in black and gold. I had a black version that uses a silicone strap. But also the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro watch is available in gold color and this model will use a brown leather strap.
Both watches look very stylish and harmonious. In addition, on the wrist, the device sat very well and no questions were asked. If we talk about dimensions, then smartwatches have received dimensions such as 46 x 46 x 12.4 mm. And the weight with the strap was 57 grams.
The body of the smartwatch from Amazfit was made of aluminum alloy, but the back of the device was made of matte plastic. It is also worth mentioning that the watch screen was protected by tempered glass and had an oleophobic coating. As for the quality of workmanship, I had no particular complaints about the assembly. Since all the components have been perfectly matched to each other. In addition, the buttons on the right side of the device also worked smoothly and responsively.
Another bonus, I can attribute the presence of protection against water under the 5 ATM standard. Therefore, I could easily take a shower along with the watch. And also you can swim in the pool and not worry that the device will fail. At the same time, the use of a new PPG sensor on the back, provides a reading of the heart rate in the sport swimming mode.
If you look at the back of the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro smartwatch, here, in addition to the new generation BioTracker PPG 3.0, there is also a two-pin charging connection. I also want to highlight that the biometric sensor received 6 photodiodes and 2 more LEDs. Therefore, there should be no special complaints about measuring health indicators.
Now I propose to talk about the screen and its features. Compared to the GTR 3 version, the improved GTR 3 Pro has a slightly larger screen size of 1.45 inches. At the same time, its resolution was 480 x 480 pixels and the pixel density per inch was within 331 PPI. The bezels around the screen were minimal and of course an AMOLED matrix was used.
Another positive feature I can highlight is the maximum brightness of the screen, which was 1000 nits. Therefore, I could easily use the watch, both indoors and outdoors in bright sunny weather. Like the standard version of the GTR 3 smartwatch, the improved Pro generation has a 60Hz refresh rate. This means that the smoothness of scrolling through functions and settings was very smoother.
I think it’s not a secret for anyone that you shouldn’t have any problems with image transfer. Since the colors were displayed very brightly and the black depth, thanks to the AMOLED matrix, was very high.
As for the strap on the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro smartwatch. That he has a very pleasant texture material of workmanship. Despite the fact that the texture was made on two sides, both from the inside and from the outside. I also want to say that the strap width was 22 mm. Therefore, you will not have much trouble replacing the strap with any other option.
Well, the last thing I want to tell you in this section is the presence of a built-in microphone and speaker. That is, compared to the GTR 3 model, the improved version of the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has received a Bluetooth calling function. This means that you can both receive and dial phone calls. Okay, now I propose to go to the management and analysis of all existing functions.
Features, functions and mobile app
Like most devices from Amazfit and beyond, the first thing to do is connect to the mobile app. The process itself took me less than 5 minutes of time and I don’t see much sense in telling how I interfaced with the application. Therefore, we went to disassemble the main features and controls of the new generation of smartwatches.
For example, the device is controlled under the Zepp OS operating system and therefore all control functions will have the same character as on other devices from the Amazfit brand. For example, let’s start our story from the home screen of the GTR 3 Pro smartwatch.
To change the design of the watch faces, you need to hold your finger on the screen for a few seconds. In addition, a large number of different watch faces are available through the mobile application, of which there are more than 150+ types. Also, you can easily set your own picture or photo on the smartwatch screen.
When you swipe down from the home screen, the quick settings menu is displayed. Here you can see icons such as flashlight, do not disturb and theater modes, screen brightness level, calendar, sound, find a smartphone, battery information, Bluetooth settings and general settings.
And if you swipe up on the main screen, we get to the section of recent notifications. There are also widgets that are activated by swiping left or right. In addition, these widgets are customizable, that is, you can change their position, add or remove them. The maximum number of widgets can be up to ten. This can be activity, weather, heart rate, sleep, SpO2, PAI, and more.
To enter the main menu with all the features, you must press the upper power/crown button once. Here I found a typical list of functions and applications that was also available on the GTR 3 model. These are PAI, heart rate, SpO2, one-touch measurements, workouts, exercise log, stress, activity, music player, weather and much more.
But on board the GTR 3 Pro version, an application appeared called the phone. That is, now you can make calls through the watch itself, both by dialing a number and through existing contacts. This function worked well for me and did not cause any particular complaints during my testing.
As for measuring health indicators, I had no problems with measuring pulse and blood oxygen level SpO2. All results were believable and realistic. In addition, the above measurements were not read if the device was not on your wrist. But the thermometer was not very accurate. Since the results were always different and body temperature, the device did not measure, but only the temperature of the skin.
Also, the number of workouts was very large and there were more than 100+ different types of workouts on board the device. The device also received a built-in GPS module and I had no particular complaints about its work. The accuracy of the GPS signal was high and the power consumption was within normal limits.
Well, now let’s go through the sections and settings of the Zepp mobile app. The application itself can be installed both via Android and iOS devices. The main menu of the application displays health information. For example, these are pulse, SpO2, steps, distance, calories, sleep and others. There is also a sports training section where you can analyze your records and other indicators.
In the general settings of the device, there is a watch face store, settings for notifications, reminders, and others. But the most important feature of the Zepp mobile app is the app store. That is, through this feature, you can install third-party applications in the smartwatch interface. At the same time, the number of applications was limited to 10. But I think that in the near future, the number of applications will grow exponentially.
Battery and run time
The built-in battery capacity is 450 mAh, which is very good for a smartwatch. But how the battery showed itself during my testing, let’s tell you more.
In the test, I loaded the watch quite intensively, that is, I used a lot of built-in functions and features. I also did sports training with jogging for 2 hours a day with the GPS module turned on. So, at the end of one day, the battery level dropped by 30%. This means that the device with active use will be able to work for about 3 working days.
At the same time, the manufacturer promises about 12 days of battery life. I assume that this kind of battery life can be achieved, but using the power saving mode with a limited number of active functions.
But a full charging cycle through the docking station of two contacts is carried out in 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
The improved version of the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro smartwatch has received many interesting and useful features. They will be in demand, both for everyday and sports use.
For example, on the positive side, I can single out high-quality assembly and ideal materials of manufacture. I also liked the large 1.45 inch AMOLED screen with good resolution, 1000 nits brightness and 60 Hz refresh rate.
In addition, the device has useful features such as Bluetooth calling and much more. That is, if we compare the device with the basic version of Amazfit GTR 3, then the improved version has all the useful features, as it was in the second generation of Amazfit GTR 2.
But if you do not need the Bluetooth calling function, then I see no point in purchasing the Pro version. Since the price difference between the two versions will be quite significant.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Now everyone can order the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro smartwatch at a pretty good price of $229.99. But this price will be during the 11.11 fall sale.
Therefore, I certainly liked the new generation of the device from Amazfit and I can recommend it for purchase.
