Currently, it is difficult to find a quality product, but also at an inexpensive price. As for the tablets, they are not so popular as phones. Let’s see why?
The smartphones now have more than 6 inches screen, so 8 inches tablets have not become very interesting to our time.
But in this article, I would like to talk about a tablet with a 10-inch screen and a 2K resolution called Alldocube M5x.
In general, it is the same tablet as its older brother Alldocube M5, only the M5x got a different processor that is MediaTek Helio X27 and some improvements such as a battery. But the price remained unchanged at $169.
So let’s get down to the full review of Alldocube M5x and look at its main features below.

Alldocube M5x: Design and Appearance
Let’s take a closer look at the Alldocube M5x in our test. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary tablet. The body of the device is made entirely of metal and plastic.
Not necessarily surprising in this price range. By “painting” the plastic, the whole thing looks more valuable than it actually is.
The device was delivered in Platinum color. The buttons are easy to press and do not creak. The Alldocube M5x has is 24.00cm long, 17.00cm wide and 0.85cm high. Not small, but not too big.
The edges around the display look narrow compared to other tablets. On the upper side of the device are a micro USB port and 3.5mm audio jack.
On the right side, you will find a power button and the volume control and speaker grill. On the left side is only another speaker grill.
In addition, there is a dual sim slot. Not uncommon in this price range. And this also makes it possible to surf the device with a SIM card or even make a phone call. But more on that later.
The speakers of the Alldocube M5x are okay in our test, but not particularly good or bad. They are not very loud, but they were enough for streaming.
Positive, I think they are attached to the bottom and not on the back of the device, such as the Mi Pad 3. So you can put the tablet on the table and has no restrictions. With a weight of 510 grams, it is not exactly a lightweight tablet.
Of course, this weight is due to the big battery of the device. But it really did not bother me anyway – because the device looks significantly more valuable.
Alldocube M5x: Display
The display of Alldocube M5x has a resolution of 2K, 2560 x 1600 pixels at 10.1 inches. That’s about 320 pixels per inch (PPI).
In this price range quite common and not disturbing in everyday life. If you do not look too closely, you will not be able to see individual pixels.
The brightness of the device I would say as “good if not too bright”. In direct sunlight, you do not see much anymore.
In a shady spot or at home in your own four walls, you can read the display at any time – at least at full brightness. The colors are not quite as rich in contrast, but not pale. Just okay.
Also not common in this price range of Alldocube M5x is the 10-point touch. This means that the screen can respond to up to 10 touch points simultaneously. That’s definitely a good thing.
Many manufacturers offer a maximum of five points of contact at the same time.
On the display was a protective film attached, which now, after a few weeks, looked quite battered. When I turned this down, the clear and beautiful display came to light.
And this looks still, after another two weeks, still quite good. About hardened and thus scratch-resistant glass makes the manufacturer no information.
Nevertheless, I assume that any edited display glass was used for the device. Also, this device survived my key test without problems.
However, I have deliberately not used harder objects (in my opinion makes no sense, since I just want to “simulate” everyday life).
Alldocube M5x: Hardware and Performance
The tablet received an updated processor that is MediaTek Helio X27 with Deca cores with a maximum frequency of 2.6GHz. As experience has already shown, this is a good reliable processor that performs everyday functions perfectly.
What about games? Everything is simple, you can safely play heavy games, but in the middle graphics settings. The games like PUBG Mobile, Asphalt 9 and others work well.
Purely in terms of performance, however, one notices here that the device has 4GB of RAM available. Mind you. It basically works everything.
The memory is also an important component, but everything is available for this Alldocube M5x in our analisis. In 64GB internal memory, but if this is not enough, then you can increase up to 128GB using the micro SD card.
I also noticed that the software was not necessarily adapted to the device. There are always, even when scrolling through the settings menu, and occasionally also like apps that do not really resource hungry.
You just notice that the manufacturer did not spend much effort on the tablet. Classic design, pure Android (without an option to update to the next higher version) and even more mediocre specs.
Alldocube M5x: Software
The software of Alldocube M5x is the most widely used, but not quite up to date, Android 8.0 in a virtually unchanged form used.
Accordingly, the classic Android features are supported, but nothing really special, such as Clone apps or the like. Such features like to build other manufacturers in their own system even in order to offer added value.
The Alldocube M5x did not receive any updates during my test phase. And so the status of the security patch is still the 5th of Jule 2018!
Personally, I would therefore generally use the tablet in everyday life rather for unimportant things, but in no case for e-banking or the like.
Alldocube M5x: Connectivity
Phoning with a tablet? Yeah, that works. Even with two SIM cards, because the device offers a dual sim slot and microSD cards.
Who wants to use the tablet to make calls, has the opportunity. Simply insert a sim card (Nano-Sim), then you can start. Simply hold the tablet to your ear and then make phone calls but not because the device has no “ear”, or even a small speaker.
And so you can simply use the device with a headset (with microphone) or via a speakerphone.
The reception quality is not so bad. I had the same signal strength with the device as with my Redmi Note 6 Pro. So far so good.
The conversation partner sounds okay. Not that it sounds like it’s standing next to me (VoLTE), but it’s enough for conversation.
The usual suspects such as the microphone, camera, etc. are installed, so that the device, for example, also great for talking via Skype.
It also supports dual-band ac-wifi and can handle both the 2.4GHz signal and the 5GHz signal. The reception of the device is quite okay. But not more.
So I had during the train journey from Bern to Zurich with the Alldocube M5x in the analisis only once a 2-minute stream interruption via hotspot from the phone to complain.
But that may also have been due to the network reception of the phone.
However, Spotify, Netflix, and other streaming services usually ran smoothly. From time to time, the tablet had its quirks and could not send data even with full Wi-Fi (for example, the photos for this post via Telegram). A restart then brought a remedy.
Also included was Bluetooth 4.2, an ambient light sensor (automatic brightness of the display), a gyroscope, a direction sensor, and a compass.
Also, a GPS sensor was installed. Also not exactly typical for devices in this price range of Alldocube M5x in the test. For example, a more expensive Mi Pad 3 from Xiaomi had no GPS sensor installed in the device.
Alldocube M5x: Camera
To be honest, the cameras have surprised me a bit, because they are not so bad as expected. However, the prerequisite is that you keep the Alldocube M5x while taking pictures really quiet and not wobble.
Draw the tablet fast and take a picture is not that great. Another requirement for my positive conclusion, however, was that the device is basically only used for photos a day – because, at night, the camera is simply not really useful.
The following example picture shows it clearly. The noise is really blatant and almost looks like I zoomed in as hard as possible. In fact, this is an unchanged picture with the automatic settings:
Even if megapixels are not everything, I would have wished for a few more today. The main camera resolves with 5 megapixels, the front camera just with 2 megapixels.
For occasional snapshots or for Skype calls (in the future even WhatsApp calls via WhatsApp Web) it will be enough. Below are some examples. What is striking: The photos are rather pale and not necessarily sharp.
I was rather positively surprised by the front camera. The photos look almost better, although the resolution is of course much lower.
Alldocube M5x: Battery
The battery of Alldocube M5x in the test is actually quite neat with 6.600mAh and that shows up in everyday life. The measured performance here also corresponds to the actual performance – something that is not necessarily acceptable for some China (phone) manufacturers (Umidigi for example).
I used the device for days and the battery did not die. During the day I streamed at least 30-45min, listened to music, answering emails or chatted via telegram.
After three days (or about 6 hours of active use) but then it was over and the device had to go to the socket.
The brightness was always set in the middle – not too bright and not too dark. For me, the battery life is okay. The device loads very slowly. I would recommend putting it in an electrical outlet overnight.
Alldocube M5x: Conclusions and Reviews
If you are looking for a simple tablet for surfing, Netflixing, listening to music etc. and do not want to spend a lot of money, then you are well advised to use the Alldocube M5x like in our review.
This is a well-made tablet that can meet the demands of everyday life quite well. Too bad here is the fact that the manufacturer does not care about updates.
The software was not really optimized for the device. Judging by the price, it is perfectly okay that the manufacturer does not put in a lot of work and money here.
Also, a large high-quality screen with 2K resolution and good brightness and viewing angles is a positive factor to buy.
The cameras are enough for snapshots, but not for much more, and certainly not at night.
Would I recommend the device to someone? Yes, I even have. I pass it on to a friend who will use it exactly for the above application scenarios. And that’s just enough.
Alldocube M5x: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
As I mentioned at the beginning of the review, the Alldocube M5x tablet, you can buy for low and good price only $169.99 from January 7 to January 14 at a discount price.
One should not expect miracles from such a cheap tablet, but that should be well known to anyone who buys it.
