Earlier I was able to test an interesting model of an electric bike called the ADO A20. But today I have to review an updated version of the model, which received a similar name, only with the ending F – ADO A20F.
Therefore, in this review we will talk about the build quality, materials used and other features of the new bike model. In addition, I will share with you my emotions from driving and in general I will tell you whether this version of the bike is worth your attention or not.
If we talk about the price, then on the Indiegogo platform, they ask for about $900 for an electric bike. But I know one interesting wholesale site where the price tag for a bicycle will not exceed $530, as usual I will leave a link to the site below.
As for the technical features, the model A20F in appearance remained similar to the previous generation A20. But the main and significant differences between these versions of bicycles are the wheels. That is, the updated version received large and wide wheels with a similar diameter of 20 inches, but only with a width of 4 inches, and not 1.95 inches.
In addition to the larger wheels, the ADO A20F bike received increased engine power. Now the drive wheel has 500 watts of power and the maximum travel distance will be about 80 km, as the manufacturer assures. Other features I can attribute are the maximum travel speed of almost 35 kmph, the presence of an LED screen and a built-in battery capacity of 10.4 Ah.
In general, the new model of the electric bike looks even more courageous and brutal. Therefore, if you are looking for an off-road monster, then perhaps the ADO version will be a good choice. But is that so, let me begin my full and detailed review of the device.

Unboxing and packaging
The ADO A20F bike is delivered in a rather large cardboard box. In addition, on the front of the package, there is a drawing of a bicycle with the name of the model and company. The dimensions of the package were 110 x 80 x 45 cm, and the weight was about 35 kg. Therefore, transporting the bike will be quite problematic from the post office.
To me for a test, the boxes themselves flew without severe damage and I want to note that inside the package the bike itself was well packed and protected. The entire frame and other components were protected in foam with protective bubble wrap.
In the box itself, I found it, itself, the bike itself, which was folded. There was also a separate seat, pedals, reflectors, a pump, instructions for use and other small parts.
The complete assembly took me about 15-20 minutes. In addition, during the assembly, I did not find any great difficulties. Therefore, now let’s find out how well the bike was assembled and from what materials.
Design, build quality and materials
At first glance, it may seem that the ADO A20F and ADO A20 bicycles are absolutely similar in design and construction. But in reality, there are slight differences.
For example, the rear wheel frame was made of wider metal. This was done in order to make the wheel width of the new electric bike much wider. Therefore, the manufacturer also decided to enhance some design features in appearance.
If we talk about color options, then the updated version of the bike is available in black and white. I have a black version on my test, but I think that the white color will look as harmonious as the black version.
As for the build quality, I did not find any special remarks during my testing. That is, all the welded joints were pretty neat. I can’t even believe that this model was produced by a little-known company called ADO.
Even if you look at the connecting elements that hold the frame, it immediately becomes clear that the bike was assembled to glory. In addition, the electric bike received a small protection from water under the IPX5 standards. Therefore, it will be quite safe to ride a bike in the rain.
On the frame itself, you can find a hole for the plug for charging the battery. And yes, if you unfold the frame, you can easily remove the battery. A convenient solution, and I think this solution is found in many models of electric bikes.
I also forgot to mention that the maximum load on the bike should not exceed 120 kg. I have a weight of about 80 kg with a height of 178 cm and I could easily handle the bike without any difficulties. But I will talk about the experience of using it a little later.
A bit of information about the wheels, both the front and rear wheels are now 20″ and 4″ wide. These are wide and quite bulky wheels with good tread. This will allow you to navigate a relatively absent road without too much trouble. In addition, there is a shock absorber on the front wheel and its piston stroke was about 2-3 inches. On a terrible road, it was comfortable for me to ride and I think to a large extent it was the big and wide wheels that saved, and not the work of the shock absorbers.
When you look at the seat itself, it comes in a standard size, like most bicycles in this price range. The seat itself can be adjusted in height depending on your height. As you may know, the seat needs to be adjusted so that your legs are completely straight when pedaling.
The drive wheel on the ADO A20F bike is rear and it received an electric motor with a power of 500 watts. Also here, you can see seven stars that change speed depending on the descent or ascent. In addition, a mechanical disc brake with a diameter of 160 mm is used on the front and rear wheels.
In the meantime, the front frame of the bike houses an LED flashlight with four LEDs. At night, it illuminates the road quite well and the visibility of the path becomes safe for movement.
On the steering wheel, you can see the front and rear brakes, a small LED screen, a horn, turning on the lights, and even has a separate USB port for charging your mobile device. Of course, there is also a Shimano derailleur.
Let’s now talk about the weight and dimensions of the new ADO A20F bike. For example, the dimensions of an off-road electric bike were about 174 x 53 x 120 cm when unfolded and 98 x 45 x 77 cm when folded. At the same time, the weight, taking into account the battery, was approximately 34 kg, and without it, about 29 kg. Well, I figured out the appearance, now I propose to learn about the main features and control of the bike from the ADO company.
Performance, features and ride
As I mentioned earlier, the bike uses electric propulsion thanks to a 500W motor. Also, the bike can move at the expense of your legs. Here I was thrilled to see seven different gears to help you find the right sprocket ratio for your ascent or descent.
At the same time, the maximum speed that an electric bike on pure electric traction can reach was 35 km per hour. But as you know, in most European cities, this speed is prohibited. Therefore, the manufacturer has set a limit of 25 km per hour. If you want to remove the restriction, then following the link at the very end of the review, you can find a method for removing the restriction.
If we talk about the capacity of the built-in battery, then it was 10.4 Ah. As I said, the battery can be charged through the bike, or can be removed and recharged at home or in any other place convenient for you. This battery capacity will be enough for you for active use for about 50 km. But it is worth mentioning here that this figure can change both up and down. Everything will depend on the degree of load, driver’s weight, descents, ascents and other factors. It is also worth mentioning that it took me about 6-7 hours to fully charge the battery.
On the steering wheel, there is an LED screen, which displays all the useful information. For example, here you can monitor your speed, read odometer readings, battery level and even select operating modes. There are three modes of operation used here – low, medium and high.
Let’s go through each mode in more detail. When using the first mode, the bike rider is able to move at a maximum speed of 15 kmph. During the second mode, the device will reach a speed of up to 20 kmph and in the third mode – 25 kmph on pure electric traction.
At the same time, I managed to overcome rather long climbs with an angle of about 15 or even 20 degrees. Yes, in the third mode of operation, the bike climbed up quite easily. But it’s also worth noting here that I assiduously helped the bike pedal. I think that with the climbs you will not have strong problems. But do not forget that due to their large rise, the battery capacity will burn a lot of energy.
Also, I want to talk about brakes and do some braking distance tests. As I said earlier, it uses mechanical disc brakes with a diameter of 160 mm. So, during my testing, I managed to stop from a big slope for 10 meters.
Yes, this is not the most efficient braking system that I have been able to test. Also, do not forget that the bike weighs quite a lot – about 34 kg. Therefore, the manufacturer would need to install a hydraulic braking system rather than a mechanical cable braking system.
In terms of ride comfort, the ADO A20F bike model performed better than its older version, the ADO A20. Since here my knees did not rub against the steering wheel and in general the distance from the knees to the steering wheel was about 35-40 cm. It was a pleasure to ride an electric bike from ADO.
In addition, I liked the large wheels when driving on a relatively bad road or cobblestone. At the same time, the front shock absorber coped well with shaking and smoothed movement a little. In general, driving on a bad road did not cause me strong disgust, since I did not hear any extraneous noises and creaks at all. But if you plan to drive on asphalt, then the noise from the tires will be heard and pretty good.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
After several days of testing the new model of the ADO A20F electric bike, I was left under very positive emotions. These emotions were not only positive from the driving, but also from the build quality and the materials used.
Yes, it may not be the smallest and lightest bike I’ve tested. Therefore, most likely this bike is not suitable for a fragile female or teenager. But for a strong man – this brutal horse will be just right.
Let me briefly share the highlights that I loved about the new A20F bike. First of all, I liked the large and wide wheels, which give comfort when driving on a bad road. Also, the bike has become better assembled to the level, compared to the previous generation ADO A20.
Another thing I love about this bike is that it can easily climb long climbs thanks to its 500W electric motor. In addition, the folding design allows you to easily transport your bike in the trunk of your car.
Of the shortcomings, I can single out – this is not a very long distance on electric traction. The device also needs a more powerful hydraulic braking system. I did not find any other strong flaws during my test.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
The ADO A20F bike is currently priced at just $530. But if you order the bike through IndieGoGo, the price tag will be almost twice as high.
Therefore, for a relatively low cost, I can definitely recommend a new bike model for purchase.
