360 S7: Unboxing
For the test, we received a rather large box in which everything is packed wisely and during transportation, all the details will remain intact.
Inside the box, I found a standard round-shaped robot vacuum cleaner, instructions in various languages, a charging cable, and adapters for various sockets.
Also in the presentation was a container for wet cleaning and a removable rag, and the last is a charging station.
Well, the kit has everything you need, but I would like to get additional items, such as brushes or an additional rag for wet cleaning. Although all this can be ordered separately on the manufacturer’s website.
360 S7: Design
The appearance of the new robot vacuum cleaner 360 S7 in our test is no different from previous models. White plastic with a round shape vacuum cleaner with gold lines, as a result, the device has a fairly unobtrusive and modern look.
In addition, the tactile effect of the vacuum cleaner gives a good impression. The case and plastic are quite thick and reliable. Also, all components sit well and firmly in place.
The 360 S7 design is based on the classic design of robotic vacuum cleaners. The vacuum cleaner also has a rotating brush on its underside that supports the suction motor while collecting dust and dirt. The large wheels that can cross large obstacles, such as a threshold. In addition, in the presence of there is only one rotational brush that collects dirt from the corners.
For navigation, the 360 S7 has a regular bumper that runs around the case. In this case, the robot vacuum cleaner can determine when it collides with an object and protects objects upon contact.
The various sensors are also located on the front panel under the black cover so that the robot vacuum cleaner does not come into contact with furniture at all. Below, the 360 S7 also has sensors that can detect stairs and other abysses in the analisis.
The most important element for navigation is the laser sensor, which is located on the top.
A rotating laser is hidden in this tower, which creates a 2D map of your apartment in the background in a smartphone application. As a result, the vacuum cleaner always knows where it is. This is an extremely important element, especially for more complex apartments!
A container for collecting dust and dirt is installed on the top of the 360 S7, like most models of robotic vacuum cleaners. To remove the container, press the button and pull up the container.
As usual, the air is drawn in through a fine filter. As a result, you can be sure that the air from the 360 S7 is also quite clean.
However, particulate filters, especially if they are inside, require special care. A regular knock is required!
In addition to managing the application, the 360 S7 also has two buttons for controlling. This is a start/stop button and a button for returning the vacuum cleaner robot to the base.
I would also like to note that this model of the robot vacuum cleaner has an additional container for water. Therefore, after ordinary cleaning, you can run the robot for wet cleaning and the floors will become even cleaner.
The base charging station, as usual, is a small plastic box with IR emitters to show the robot vacuum cleaner the way home, with two pads for charging the robot.
By the way, the station is also considered reliable and accurate because of its very strong navigation.
360 S7: Navigation and Intelligence
What is the most important thing in a robot vacuum cleaner? That’s right, intelligence!
A vacuum cleaner can clean as it wants, if it does not walk around the apartment efficiently, it will be useless. Here I can divide the robotic vacuum cleaners into two groups.
“Classic” and “modern” robot vacuum cleaner. Classic robotic vacuum cleaners stupidly did not know what was going on around them. They had only a shock sensor and, fortunately, a distance sensor.
The logic here was very simple: to drive until you encounter an obstacle, to turn in a random direction, until you encounter an obstacle, etc. However, this type of navigation becomes very ineffective due to the specific size of the room and especially the number of rooms.
This is where more modern models come into play. They have a camera and other sensors that allow robots to create a plan map of your house or apartment to cover all areas and rooms.
However, this requires a lot of logic and advanced electronics. Therefore, such complex navigation is actually found only in vacuum cleaners of the price category of $600+.
360 S7 is one of the few exceptions. It has a laser sensor on top of the case. Roughly speaking, this is a rotating laser pointer and a sensor that measures the distance between the robot and the object, and thereby allows you to create a map.
Do not worry. You will not see red dots, the laser pointer works in the ultraviolet range.
This rather expensive and sophisticated sensor allows the 360 S7 to work very accurately. The robot knows where it has already been, where the aisles (doors) are and where it still has to go.
Most importantly, it all also works in practice! The robot can easily and efficiently move around a larger and more complex home. Obstacles tend to cost well, and the robot is usually flawless.
I can only praise the logic and intelligence of the 360 S7, especially considering its price!
360 S7: Suction and cleaning
But what about suction power? At the maximum operating mode of the robot, the 360 S7 vacuum cleaner is 2000 Pa.
However, I always wonder at modern robotic vacuum cleaners how effective and good they are. This also applies to the 360 S7! It clearly has an above-average suction motor.
In addition, there is a rotating brush, which also takes up most of the work. Compared to classic vacuum cleaners, this greatly compensates for the lack of power. Another advantage is that the engine just sits close to the ground.
As a result, the cleaning efficiency on a smooth surface is very good! Whether it is fine or coarse dirt, everything is removed efficiently.
The same applies to carpets, even if there is no “suction power to the depth of the fiber”. Surface visible dirt, even with taller carpets, is not a problem.
Also, as I wrote above, in this model of the robot of the 360 S7 vacuum cleaner there is wet cleaning. As a result of several tests, I can say that the wet cleaning done is very effective, there is practically no dust, and breathing is much easier.
360 S7: Application
The manufacturer offers an application for a mobile device with which you can program the robot and generally manage it.
Through the application, you can also see the cleaning map, which the robot passed and removed. Here you can also create virtual barriers. If you do not want the robot to suck the living room today, then you can indicate this in the application.
In the application settings, you can find a large number of operating modes, a timer and much more.
On the main page of the application, you can find a map, the time of the last cleaning and the cleaning area.
It’s not difficult to select a robot operating mode, you need to click on the bottom panel the mode you need, for example Quiet, Automatic or Maximum.
In general, the 360 Smart application is similar to the previous robot vacuum cleaner models. If you decide to update the robot, then you will have no problems using it.
360 S7: Conclusions and Reviews
The output to the 360 S7 is very complex. I can fully recommend a robot vacuum cleaner for purchase! The navigation is at a very good level, and the suction power is fully in line with expectations.
I could not find the main shortcomings or problems. The cleaning results are very good!
Also, the 360 S7 is simply superior to its budget competitors due to its laser navigation.
For competitors that are comparable to S7, the price will be an order of magnitude higher, starting at $600. Given its price and technical characteristics of the new model of the robot vacuum cleaner, you will certainly make the right choice.
