After more than a year, Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 officially appeared in the sound of being chopped. In the already ruined Android tablet, it has gained a lot of attention with its good hardware configuration and pricing.
After a month’s time, Xiaomi quietly released the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus, which has a fairly similar hardware configuration and a large screen size, which made the atmosphere confusing.
“Is it really bigger?”, “Choose Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 or Mi Pad 4 Plus?”, and even “What version is good” is a real problem.

Also, it equipped with 3.5mm headphone jack and USB-C interface, the bottom is a dual speaker design. The most critical screen is also 1920 by 1200 resolution and 16:10 ratio.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus: Design and Appearance
Yes, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus in the test has the same hardware configuration as the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4, and the conspicuous difference is the screen.
To be precise, it is the size. It is the old saying that “one inch long and one inch strong”, the larger 10.1-inch screen of the Mi Pad 4 Plus.
Even with the design, nothing has changed compared to both predecessors, and so the case is identical, both in form and in the materials used.
However, with the dimensions of 245.6 x 149.1 x 8 mm and the weight of 485 grams, there are minimal differences (See comparison above!).
The front is completely covered with glass and neatly framed in the metal frame on the sides. The edges around the display are also black in the black model and white in the golden version.
I like the black version a lot better than the golden ones because the big edges are not so noticeable here.
The back is made almost entirely of aluminum and is slightly roughened, which ensures a very good feel.
This makes it more susceptible to minor quirks or scratches. As with its predecessor, only a small cap can be seen on the top, that could have made Xiaomi now even in a piece.
The camera lens on the top left also stands out clearly half a millimeter out of the case, which they could well have sunk completely.
There is also a small change on the bottom because the stereo speakers have now moved from the backdown and are right next to each other.
In the middle of the USB Type-C 2.0 connector. On the top, there is the 3.5mm audio jack and on the sides the buttons for power and the volume rocker.
The keys themselves are also made of metal, have a good pressure point and do not wobble.
On the left side of Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus there is still the memory card slot for a microSD card or SIM card slot.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus: Display
Compared to its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus changed the form factor, so you now have a 10.1-inch display with the factor 16:10.
This also reduces the resolution to 1920 x 1200 with 224ppi instead of 2048 x 1536 pixels of the previous Mi Pads.
The 16:10 format of Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus in the analisis is better suited for films, YouTube, Netflix and media of all kinds. The Mi Pad 4 Plus has again installed a very good IPS-LCD panel with the 10-point touchscreen.
Both the colors, as well as the contrast and the black value are very good. Who prefers other color representations, can still adjust the settings to his liking.
Even with the viewing angle stability, there is nothing to complain about, and so the display can still read well from strong angles, as long as not too much reflects on the glass.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus: Hardware and Performance
Compared to the previous version, then there is no change. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus has a Qualcomm’s SoC with built 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 Octa-Core (4x 2.2GHz + 4x 1.8GHz) with Adreno 512 GPU from Qualcomm, better positioned.
This also supports WLAN AC with MIMO up to 867 Mbps and Bluetooth 5.
You have to cut back on the internal eMMC memory because it creates 180 MB/s read and 130 MB/s write.
For the RAM it looks very good at about 6.35 GB/s. The remaining benchmark values of the Mi Pad 4 in AnTuTu are a good 145,016 points and in the Geekbench 1638 SingleCore + 5863 MultiCore points.
Thus, even for games of any kind for enough power and found only the slightly longer load times because of the slow memory in between a little annoying.
Otherwise, virtually all games, such as Asphalt 9, Life is Strange, Modern Combat 5, MMX Racing, Asphalt Airborn 8 and Hearthstone can be played absolutely smoothly and without a trailer. At PUBG there were a few mini-stuttering here and there, but considering the price, that’s fine.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus: Software
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus comes with Android 8.1 and MIUI 9.6 China-Stable. MIUI 10 has already been announced and a Beta or China Developer ROM is already available for download.
However, in order to install the ROMs, you have to unlock (unlock) the bootloader of the device, which takes 14 days to wait. There is currently no Global-ROM or Custom-ROM from Xiaomi.eu for the Pad 4 Plus.
Here you will surely have to be patient for some time because the Mi Pads are usually less well supplied with updates and ROMs, but maybe that will change now with the 4 Series, which has a Snapdragon processor?
So you have to live with the English interface because all other languages are only available in the Global-ROM.
There is a fingerprint sensor on the front panel, and there is the possibility of unlocking the tablet via face recognition (Face Unlock).
This does not work as well as you know it from most smartphones. The front camera is activated and after about one second the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus is unlocked.
This is on the one hand very light and on the other angle dependent. That did not work so reliably in the test. In addition, it can be easily tricked with a photo and unlock it.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus: Connectivity
Improvements have also been made to the Mi Pad 4 Plus’s connectivity, with support for Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz) with dual MIMO and the new Bluetooth 5.0.
In the LTE missing the band 20 with 800Mhz. Both the WLAN, as well as the Bluetooth functioned in the test without problems with a good range.
In the WiFi, you have to do without a GPS sensor, which is probably due to the low price. This is only installed in the LTE with GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus: Sound
The two stereo speakers are indeed, as mentioned in detail, hiked from the back to the bottom.
Definitely better from the positioning and therefore no longer radiates backward or you hear something when you put the pad on the blanket or bed.
The sound quality is very good and balanced. The bass comes out only slightly, but that’s okay with the case volume.
Also, the overall volume is very good and even on the highest setting to understand quite well with minimal tendency to overdrive something.
With 3.5mm headphones, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus in our analisis again delivers a very good sound with bass. Overall, I have nothing to complain about the audio quality and the volume.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus: Camera
The cameras in the tablet are still not very important to the manufacturers. This is probably mainly because the devices are usually only used at home for Couchsurfing or games.
Hardly anyone runs anywhere in the city or in the park with a tablet and takes pictures there. So that’s fine.
Xiaomi has installed a 13-megapixel OmniVision (OV13855) skin splint in the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus with a f/2.0 aperture.
If there is enough light, you can shoot mediocre pictures, but they lack some dynamic. In addition, the colors are a bit exaggerated and accordingly not the reality.
Even with the sharpness, you have to make some compromises because the pictures are clearly out of focus towards the edge. But we are talking, as I said, of a tablet. Otherwise, you can still record videos without image stabilizer in FullHD.
Something more important is probably rather the front camera because that is certainly more often times used for a video chat session.
But you can not expect much from the 5-megapixel Samsung S5K5E8 sensor, because the picture is rather blurry and tends to be noisy.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus: Battery
The battery capacity of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus has been increased to 8620mAh, but in combination with the Snapdragon 660 processor, the tablet is a true cross-country skier.
This is partly due to the now somewhat bigger display and saves a lot of power.
According to the synthetic battery benchmark of Geekbench 4, it achieved almost 9 hours of screen-on-time.
Depending on how you use it, you can easily create two days and up to 11 hours of SoT. When playing elaborate games like PUBG, it consumes about 15% per hour and for videos or streaming 5-6% per hour.
Thus, the Mi Pad 4 Plus has the very good maturity and is a true battery-powered cross-country skier.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus: Conclusions and Reviews
Visually, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus in our review has not done much and they rely on tried and true!? A sturdy metal case with good LCD display.
Otherwise, the Mi Pad 4 Plus has just under the hood hasn’t some improvements over its predecessors Mi Pad 4.
One is the Snapdragon processor, which is still the most efficient SoCs on the market and the 16:10 form factor.
Although each factor has its justification in tablets, the format of the Mi Pad 4 Plus is probably better, because most use a tablet to play with or watch video or stream.
Otherwise, I have but little to complain about the tablet, except that Xiaomi at least could have missed him Quick-Charge.
But if you look at the price tag of almost $380 with the LTE, there is absolutely nothing to moan about. I do not know a tablet with such a good price performance, why I can give the Mi Pad 4 Plus again an unrestricted purchase recommendation.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
Now you can buy a new Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus tablet at a good price for only $379.99 with a discount of 8% OFF.
It is large and at the same time with a small frame a tablet that can meet the size of 8 inches in. It has a wonderful processor and design for both its price.
