After the successful release of the flagship Xiaomi Air 2 Pro wireless earbuds, the Chinese company decided to release another model. Therefore, today I will disassemble TWS earbuds, which are called Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro.
Since these are real flagship earbuds from Xiaomi, then I will be pretty strict to judge. Thus, in this review, you can not only find out about the sound quality, assembly, and other indicators, but also talk about the main disadvantages and advantages of the device.
In terms of cost, compared to the Air 2 Pro, the price tag has increased slightly and currently the cost on the FlipBuds Pro will cost you $145. Meanwhile, the last generation in the Air lineup will cost you just $92.
Therefore, let’s take a quick look at the main technical features and then proceed to a deep and detailed review of the earbuds. The new generation of FlipBuds Pro earbuds naturally received Bluetooth 5.2 versions, an 11mm dynamic driver, and a good list of features.
For example, the onboard device has active noise canceling, transparency mode, and game mode. In addition, each earphone uses three microphones for different purposes and tasks. The battery life is very good, and there is fast charging.
Okay, let’s get down to a full earbud test and find out the strengths and weaknesses of the device. Well, I planned to start my story with a complete set and appearance.

Unboxing and packaging
The Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro earbuds come in a small black square-shaped package. On the front, you can see a drawing of earbuds and a charging box with the company name and brand logo.
The packaging itself was made of fairly thick and high-quality cardboard. Therefore, I had no doubt that the earbuds really belong to the premium class of devices.
Inside the package, I found, directly, the charging box itself with earbuds inside. Under the plastic partition, you can see the instructions for use, which were completely in Chinese. And in two separate boxes, there was a rather long and thick Type-C cable and a set of silicone ear tips.
Well, the package bundle looks very good, but now let’s see how well the earbuds were assembled.
Design, build quality and materials
The first thing that catches your eye is the bright and unusual color of the Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro earbud case and charging box. The Xiaomi manufacturer only offers one color to choose from. As you may have noticed, the earbuds were made in a glossy black finish with a mirrored shade.
I have said many times that glossy plastic material is not the best choice. Since fingerprints and traces of use remain on it. The same applies to the new FlipBuds Pro model, which after 5 minutes of use did not look as presentable as I would have liked.
For comparison, the flagship Xiaomi Air 2 Pro earbuds were made of matte plastic. Look, I’ve already been using this model for half a year, and the earbud and charging box case looks like new. Therefore, the use of glossy material in the manufacture of FlipBuds Pro is a very serious disadvantage for me.
But the earbuds themselves, in addition to the glossy plastic on the outer part, received a combination of matte material. Therefore, the outer part of the device will not look too branded when the earbuds are in your ear canal. If we talk about the build quality, then I did not reveal any special problems while wearing and using the earbuds.
Now, as far as the fit is concerned, I liked the earbuds as they sit in the ear canal. Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro was created not only for everyday use but also for gaming and sports purposes. But my practice has shown that running with them will not be the most convenient activity, and playing games was very comfortable.
It is also worth mentioning that after 1.5 – 2 hours of wearing, your ears asked me for a little rest. Do not forget that these are in-ear vacuum earbuds.
On the outside of the leg, there is a touch control that simulates mechanical pressing. It is also worth noting one interesting feature here. This is about switching it, that is, to switch a track or volume level, you must press the leg with two fingers on the left and right sides.
This is a little unusual and, most importantly, not a familiar control that you need to get used to. The lower part of the earbud leg received two contacts for charging the device.
The charging box was also made, like the earbuds, from glossy mirror plastic. Other than that, the build quality didn’t impress me much. Since the lid hinge was made of plastic, it had a little backlash. This is a bit surprising for a flagship earbud with price tags of almost $150.
The dimensions and weight of the charging case are small, so I could easily fit it into my jeans pocket. On the front of the case, you can see the battery level indicator, and from the inside under the lid, there was another indicator that spoke about the charge of the earbuds themselves.
At the bottom of the box is a Type-C connector for charging with a mechanical button for connecting or resetting to factory settings. After examining the new model of Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro earbuds, I was left with very double emotions. The next step I propose is to talk about the quality of the signal and its touch control.
Connection, latency, and touch control
At the beginning of the review of Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro, I already mentioned that the earbuds received the latest wireless connection Bluetooth 5.2 version. During my testing, I did not find any special remarks with the presence of interruptions or other troubles. The signal quality was always high and stable.
Apart from that, I liked the interesting feature in the new model of wireless earbuds. This is that they are capable of connecting to two devices at the same time. That is, if you have two smartphones, then on the one you can listen to music, and on the other, you can hear the signal about the last notification. It is also possible to connect earbuds to a laptop and a smartphone at the same time.
As for the level of latency in games, it was quite significant. Yes, the manufacturer says about the presence of a game mode, but even it does not really help. Therefore, to call the FlipBuds Pro earbud model a gaming one, I clearly will not turn my tongue. But at the same time, using the game mode, playing PUBG Mobile was quite comfortable, but a slight delay was heard. But when watching video clips, there was practically no delay.
Xiaomi also offers a mobile application. If you have a device from Xiaomi, then you can select English for the user interface. And if you have a device from another manufacturer, then the user interface will only be in Chinese.
On the main page of the application, you can see the battery level of the charging box and earbuds. Also switch modes from normal, ANC, and transparent mode. I can also highlight the presence of touch control settings and receiving a firmware update.
Now a little about the touch control itself:
- A long hold on the left or right channel of the earbud switches modes from normal to active noise canceling or transparent mode.
- A single tap on the touchpad plays and pauses music, and calls can be answered or rejected.
- Double-clicking toggles the track forward.
- Pressing three times toggles the trackback.
As I already mentioned, in the settings of the mobile application, you can configure the track switching functions, set the volume control function, and much more.
Sound and microphone quality
An 11mm dynamic driver is used inside the housing of the Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro earbuds. The new earbuds not only received a new driver size but also completely different emotions from its sound.
First of all, I can highlight a good margin of the maximum volume level. During my testing, 80% of the volume was sufficient for my daily needs.
The sound quality of the low frequencies was at a very solid level. The earbuds coped very well with the tasks and reproduced music very well. For example, the low frequencies had a dynamic and deep bass.
At the same time, the middle and high frequencies were very transparent and did not have strong annoying sounds even at the maximum volume level. If we compare the sound quality with the previous generation of Xiaomi Air 2 Pro earbuds, the difference is felt in favor of the new FlipBuds Pro model. But if you compare the sound of the Huawei Freebuds Pro, then the sound quality of the latter will be slightly more balanced.
I did not find any special problems with the operation of active noise cancellation and the transparency mode. Each of the modes worked pretty well. It is worth noting that the ANC mode received several sub-modes – this is work in the office, air flights, and the usual mode, which was the maximum with a value of -40 dB.
Okay, it remains to find out how the earbuds cope during a call. For example, in a quiet place, I did not find any problems with the quality of the microphone at all. Also in noisy places, the microphones worked well and my interlocutors heard me very well.
Battery and run time
On the official website of the manufacturer or in the instructions, I did not find information about the battery capacity of the charging box and the headphones themselves.
But during my testing, earbuds with ANC turned off were able to last 6.5 hours at 70% volume. But with the active ANC function, Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro has already worked for 5 hours. This is a good indicator for its class of devices.
In addition, the charging box can be charged both via a Type-C connection in 1.5 hours and via a wireless connection in 2.5 hours. At the same time, there is fast charging of the earbuds and in 5 minutes of charge, you can listen to music for up to 2 hours.
Conclusion, reviews, pros, and cons
After one week of active use of the new model of Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro wireless earbuds, I was left under pretty good emotions. Of course, these are not ideal earbuds, as for the flagship model, but they have more advantages than disadvantages.
On the positive side, the FlipBuds Pro earbuds have a decent build quality. I also liked the unusual touch controls, there is even a mobile application with a lot of functions and features.
I can also highlight – this is a very good sound, especially in the low-frequency range. At the same time, the work of active noise reduction and transparency mode did not cause any complaints from me. The battery life was pretty decent and you can easily use the earbuds for a long time.
Now about the cons, as I said, the main drawback for me is the use of a glossy mirror case, both in the earbuds and in the charging box. In addition, these earbuds were created for the Chinese market, so all the functions and features of the mobile application will be in Chinese only if you do not have a device from Xiaomi. I can also single out not the highest quality work of the game mode.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Currently, the price tag for the new generation of TWS earbuds Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro is very high. For example, you are now able to purchase earbuds for $145.44 with 29% OFF discount.
I think that the price tag for this earbud model should not exceed $100-110. If it falls to this value, then I can safely recommend this model of wireless earbuds.
