Vivo is known for its first-class smartphones and has a leading sales position. The main competitors of Vivo can be attributed to Xiaomi, Huawei and other Chinese brands. As you know, now every manufacturer demonstrates not only a smartphone but also wireless earphones. If you look at examples, Huawei recently introduced a new generation of Freebuds 3, Xiaomi – a new model of Air 2. Therefore, Vivo is not far behind the trend and has launched a new wireless earphones called Vivo TWS.
Now you can purchase Vivo TWS in-ear earphones at an interesting price for just $160. Of course, the price is not small, but it is comparable to its competitors, such as Apple Airpods, Huawei Freebuds 3 and Xiaomi Air 2.
Today our hero received a fairly wide list of features, for example, an attractive and stylish appearance, the new 2019 Qualcomm 5126 chipset, aptX support, IP54 water protection and much more.
In this review, I will try to find all the advantages and disadvantages of the new Vivo headphones, so let’s start our review with unpacking.
Vivo TWS: Specifications
|Driver unit:||14.2mm Dynamic Driver|
|Bluetooth protocol:||aptX, ACC|
|Charging Time:||90 min|
Vivo TWS: Unboxing
The box is square and has a standard small size. On the front part, you can see the name of the model – Vivo TWS earphone.
Inside the box, the case and earphones neatly lie, I also found a charging cable with a Type-C connector and instructions.
The package bundle is very weak, but the packaging looks solid and there can be no other, given its price of $ 150.
Vivo TWS: Design
The new Vivo TWS earphone model is made of high-quality plastic, where the outside is glossy and the inside is matte.
Each earphone weighs 4.4 grams, it is quite light and sits well in the ear canal. During my testing, I did not feel any discomfort. Also, the Vivo TWS sits firmly and does not fall out of your ear even while running.
The external part of the earphone is a touch panel, like most of its competitors. A little later I will talk about the features, but I want to note that the sensor works accurately and I did not have any special problems. Also on the glossy part, there is an LED indicator.
At the bottom, there is a hole for the microphone and contactors for charging.
It is also worth noting that the earphone has a proximity sensor. It is necessary to pause while the ear is pulled out of the ear. The function works perfectly and I have no complaints about it.
Since these are in-ear earphones, that is, they do not have earpads, like on Apple Airpods. Therefore, before buying, I recommend measuring the earphones in the store, as they may not suit you in size.
In addition, the new Vivo TWS received splash and sweat protection under the IP54 standard. Naturally, you cannot completely soak in water or swim in them.
The charging case has a nice design with rounded edges and the box sizes are slightly smaller than those of Airpods.
Like the earphones, the case is made of nice glossy plastic with an iridescent effect that resembles the northern lights.
The opening cover has a magnetic connection and the earphones themselves also received a magnetic connection in the seats.
I want to note that the lid does not play and the build quality is at a high level.
There is an LED indicator on the front of the case, and on the back, there is a button for pairing.
The bottom of the box received a Type-C port for charging, but there will be no wireless charging.
I liked the look of the earphones with the case, they sit well in the ears and do not fall out even when running. But as you know, glossy plastic has one drawback – it is soiled and fingerprints will be clearly visible.
Vivo TWS: Connectivity and Control
The manufacturer provided the Vivo TWS earphones with the new Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connection. In addition, the earphones are equipped with Qualcomm QCC 5126 chipset, which has support for aptX, AAC and other codecs.
During the testing of the Vivo TWS earphones, I did not have any disconnects or any interference at a distance of up to 10 meters from the signal source.
A smart connection is also present, you do not need to remove the earphones from the case for pairing. When connecting for the first time, you need to open the cover, press the pairing button and connect to the desired device in the Bluetooth menu, in our case Vivo TWS.
The controls are simple and intuitive, for example, even volume control is present. If you want to increase the volume you need to swipe up on the touch panel.
Double-touch play/pause or take/hang up, but switching tracks is absent and this is a serious minus.
Vivo TWS: Sound
For the sound quality meets the 14.2 mm dynamic driver, which is paired with a Qualcomm QCC 5126 processor.
The low frequencies are well defined and have a pleasant and deep sound. At the same time, basses are also present with a characteristic shade of warmth and volume.
The manufacturer tried and worked well for the mid and high frequencies, so the Vivo TWS has a good combination of dynamics and detail.
It is very pleasant to listen to music through the new wireless earphones, the head will be filled with crystal clear and surround sound. Each musical instrument is well expressed, and female and male vocals have a natural and clear sound.
The microphone has a strong side and the sound quality is very high quality, the interlocutors heard me without any problems even in noisy places.
Vivo TWS: Battery
In each headset, a 25 mAh battery capacity was installed and an additional 400 mAh in the charging case.
As our testing showed, at maximum volume, the Vivo TWS earphones lost 5 hours and 11 minutes. This is a pretty solid indicator, despite the small battery capacity. When compared with competitors, in a similar test, Huawei Freebuds 3 showed almost 4 hours result, and Xiaomi Air 2 – 3.5 hours.
The charging time through a Type-C connection will be approximately 1.5 hours.
Vivo TWS: Conclusions and Reviews
The new Vivo TWS earphones have received both positive and negative features.
I’ll start with the minuses, the first is a glossy easily soiled plastic that leaves fingerprints. Also, the touch control does not have the function of switching tracks. The sound quality does not reach the main competitors, such as Huawei Freebuds 3 or Apple Airpods.
I would like to include the pluses – this is an unusual iridescent glossy plastic, which looks very unusual and stylish. In addition, the earphones received a new Qualcomm chipset, which has low power consumption and thereby received high battery life.
Vivo TWS: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
Now you can buy Vivo TWS wireless earphones for the price of $163.99.
As for its first model in the category of wireless earphones, the Vivo company tried well in production, but still far from ideal, given its not-small price.
