If you were looking for an alternative option for Apple AirPods Pro wireless earbuds, then perhaps the new Vivo TWS 2e model will be a good choice.
Of course, many Chinese smartphone manufacturers not only produce advanced mobile devices, but also touched on the product launch of the TWS headphone product category. And the well-known Vivo brand is no exception.
Therefore, in this review you can find out about the main advantages and disadvantages of the new TWS 2e earbuds. In addition, I will tell you about my impressions of the sound quality, microphones and wearing comfort.
But first, let’s find out the real cost for which the manufacturer Vivo is asking. Currently, on Chinese sites like Aliexpress, you will be able to purchase the Vivo TWS 2e earbuds for $48.
Based on the specifications, the earbuds received the most recent version of Bluetooth 5.2 connections. Also, the 12.2 dynamic driver was installed on board the device and the AAC and SBC codecs are used. The manufacturer also guarantees the presence of a game mode with a minimum value of the latency level.
At first glance, the earbuds do not have strong features such as active noise canceling, transparency mode, and others. Therefore, let’s find out whether this model is worth your attention or is it better to consider the main competitors that I was able to test earlier. Thus, I propose to start my inspection of the device with unboxing and appearance.

Unboxing and packaging
The Vivo TWS 2e earbuds are delivered in a small white package, which was made of rather durable cardboard. On the front, there is a drawing of the charging case, earbuds with the model and company name.
Inside, the manufacturer Vivo offers us the most standard equipment. It includes a charging box with earbuds inside. Also included is a set of silicone ear tips, a Type-C charging cable and instructions for use.
Okay, the package bundle is not bad enough, but I should talk about the quality of workmanship and the ease of fit in the ear canal. So let’s move on to the next section.
Design, build quality and materials
The new TWS 2e earbuds from Vivo come in two colors – white and dark blue. I have a white device in my review, and to be honest, the design of the earbuds reminds me very much of the flagship Apple AirPods Pro earbuds.
In addition, you will not find any brand or model name on the headphone case from Vivo. It is also worth noting that the leg itself was not long and this once again shows the similarity to the device from the Apple brand.
Of the negative aspects, I can single out – this is the presence of a completely glossy plastic. For me, this is a rather significant drawback, since even after several days of testing, slight abrasions can be observed on the headphone case. What will happen to the plastics in half a year or a year, I have no idea.
Although it should be said that the build quality of the device completely pleased me. Here I had no strong performance claims, because the device was well assembled and did not emit unnecessary extraneous squeaks and sounds. Unfortunately, I have not found information on any protection against water. But I guess that sweat will definitely not spoil the device.
I also liked the fit of the earbuds in the ear canal, as the standard ear tips immediately fit my ears. But you obviously won’t be able to use earbuds for a long time, since these are still in-ear vacuum earbuds. Therefore, after 2 hours, my ears demanded a short break from me to rest.
It is also worth mentioning that there are no LED indicators on the headphone case. On the outside of the headphone case, there was a touch control. At the same time, a two-pin connection for charging and a hole for a microphone were installed on the base of the leg. The sound guide uses a fabric mesh to protect it from dust and dirt.
Now some information about the charging box. It was also made of glossy white plastic. The cover had a fairly strong magnetic connection, but I did not find it in the open position. At the same time, I also noticed a slight backlash in the lid and this may cause a slight misunderstanding, given its cost slightly above $50.
On the front, there was a button for pairing or resetting settings, and above it there was one LED indicator. It informed me about the remaining battery level. Meanwhile, a Type-C port was installed at the bottom of the case to charge the box itself. Well, I figured out the appearance, so now I propose to talk about the quality of the connection and other features of the earbuds.
Connectivity, latency and touch controls
As a wireless connection, Bluetooth version 5.2 with support for AAC and SBC codecs is used. I want to remind you that the last generation of the Vivo TWS 2 earbuds also had support for the aptX Adaptive codec.
Despite this fact, during testing, I did not find strong problems with the sound quality and the transmission signal between the earbuds and the mobile device was only stable.
In addition, the manufacturer has installed another interesting function in the earbuds – this is a connection to two devices at the same time. In practice, this function worked fine.
For example, I could easily watch video clips on my laptop and receive notifications via my smartphone. Convenient and I think these are the most inexpensive earbuds where this feature was organized. Since earlier I was able to test earbuds with a similar feature with more expensive TWS earbuds models.
As for the game mode, during games such as PUBG Mobile, there was a delay, but it was quite comfortable to play. But while playing videos on YouTube, I had no complaints about the level of latency at all.
If we talk about touch control, then on the Vivo TWS 2e model, it is very modest in its functionality. There is only one function here – double tap. Also, through the mobile application, you can change the functions of double-clicking on play, pause, switching tracks, voice assistant and volume control.
Using just one control function in everyday life will be very inconvenient. I hope that in the future the manufacturer will release an update and add a number of features.
Sound and microphone quality
The manufacturer says that a 12.2mm driver is used inside the Vivo TWS 2e headphone case. This is not as bad as for vacuum in-ear earbuds. In practice, this driver was enough headlong, since the maximum volume value was with a good margin.
At the same time, the low frequencies played quite well and there was a good and voluminous bass. Therefore, fans of strong bass will definitely be delighted with this headphone model.
Also, I can’t say anything negative about the mid and high frequencies. There is a golden meaning here, both in the detail of sounds and in the smoothness of the sound. That is, during my test, I could easily hear individual musical notes of different instruments. And the vocalist’s voice was straightforward and clear.
In general, I liked the sound quality of the Vivo TWS 2e earbuds. But comparing with the main competitors, for example Redmi AirDots 3 Pro and other models, the device from Vivo lacks additional functions and features. Such as the functions of active noise canceling, transparency mode and other features.
But the quality of the microphones was very good. That is, all my interlocutors heard me clearly, without any interruptions or interference. Even in noisy places, my voice was clear and the ambient sounds were cut out by the software.
Battery and run time
Another positive feature of the Vivo TWS 2e model is the battery life. Each earbud uses a 43mAh battery. This capacity was enough for a full 7 hours of operation at the maximum volume level.
In addition, the manufacturer Vivo uses a charging box with a 420 mAh battery. Therefore, the total battery life with the charging case will be about 26-27 hours. This is a pretty solid figure for modern TWS earbuds.
The earbuds were charged through the charging box in 55 minutes, and the case itself was charged in 1.5 hours via the Type-C connection. Unfortunately, there is no wireless charging on board.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
The question remains open, can I recommend the new model of Vivo TWS 2e earbuds for purchase? This is a really difficult choice, since on the one hand the wireless earbuds received a number of good qualities. And on the other side, there are a lot of disadvantages.
For example, I can single out the positive aspects – a comfortable fit in the ear canal and good build quality. In addition, I liked the function of simultaneous connection to two devices. The sound and microphone quality is also worthy of attention, as well as the battery life.
The disadvantages are the use of a glossy body and the minimum number of touch control functions. Also here I did not find such features as ANC active noise cancellation, transparency mode and auto pause sensor.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
As I said at the beginning of the test, the price tag for the Vivo TWS 2e earbuds was only $48.30 with a 17% discount. This is a good price for modern earbuds. Also, for comparison, I’ll leave the price tag on the Vivo TWS 2, which is currently $77.30.
Thus, the choice of TWS earbuds will only be yours. But on my own I note that the model from the Vivo brand came out good, but with some nuances.
