TouYinger does not stand in one place in the production of budget projectors and each new model has a number of improvements. Today I have another interesting projector model called TouYinger M21 in my review.
As you might have guessed, the M21 version replaced the popular M19 and M18 models. Yes, perhaps the appearance of the new generation has remained practically intact, but there are a number of improvements in technical capabilities.
In terms of cost, the updated version of the TouYinger M21 received a price tag for the base version of $200. Also, you can separately buy a TV box or wall mount. If you compare the price of the previous generation TouYinger M19, then it will cost you $195. That is, the cost is almost identical, but the quality of the projection image on the M21 model has become better.
Like the previous generation, the new projector from TouYinger has a native 1080p resolution. But with improved parameters, I can highlight – this is a brightness level of 6800 lumens. For comparison, the last generation had a 5800 lumens brightness level.
In addition, the new device is capable of projecting a picture with a size of 50 to 300 inches. There is also a setting for keystone correction, both vertically and horizontally by 50 degrees.
Therefore, I would rather like to test the new projector model from the TouYinger brand in order to find out its main advantages and disadvantages. Thus, I propose to start my full and in-depth review now with the packaging and the appearance of the package.

Unboxing and packaging
Like the previous generation, the packaging of the new TouYinger M21 projector remains the same as its predecessors. This is a rather large white package with a brightly printed device. Also at the bottom of the package, you can find the main features of this model.
Inside the box, the first thing that greeted me was a separate box with various accessories. Here I found – this is a remote control, instructions for use, audio cable, HDMI cable and a charging cable.
Naturally, the box contained the projector itself, which was well and securely packaged in protective foam. In general, the equipment has remained the same and is completely similar to that of its older brothers. It has everything you need for full use and I liked the presence of an HDMI cable.
Design, build quality and materials
As I said at the beginning of the review of the new TouYinger M21 projector, the design remains completely identical to the TouYinger M19. Therefore, I will not dwell on the little things, special attention, but I will go through all the main features.
The first thing to talk about is the build quality. The TouYinger projector is assembled from matte white plastic. It is fairly durable to the environment and leaves almost no fingerprints on its body.
Yeah, here you can see that the previous generation M19 was made of gray plastic on the top, now the projector is completely white. For me, the combination of white and gray was even more interesting than just the white version.
As for the build quality, I also have no special comments, the case looks monolithic and during my testing, I had no special comments on the build quality. Therefore, the new M21 projector is assembled with high quality and I did not find any strong flaws in the assembly.
On the front of the projector body, there is an LED lens with a protective plastic cap. Nearby you can see the name of the company and an infrared sensor for the control panel.
The right side received ventilation holes with a cooling radiator inside the case. It is worth noting here that the cooling system should not be closed, as this can lead to overheating of the projector matrix. Therefore, it is necessary to leave a distance of 5 cm from the ventilation holes so that the air can circulate calmly. Nearby, on the same edge, there is a slot for an SD memory card and there are two HDMI ports.
Meanwhile, on the back of the TouYinger M21 case, you can see one VGA port, two USB 2.0 ports, another infrared sensor for the remote control, and an audio jack with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. There is also one 5W speaker and a port for the power cable.
But on the left side of the projector, there are also ventilation holes, but only for the entrance of cold air. There is a small filter here that must be periodically removed and cleaned of dust and other contaminants. On the same side, there is a ring for adjusting the focal length and changing the tilt angle.
There are mechanical control buttons on the top of the projector body. Here you can fully control the device, even without using the remote control.
The lower edge of the projector has four anti-slip feet and has threaded holes for mounting on a wall or ceiling.
Some more information about the remote control. It is completely identical to that of its predecessors. The number of buttons is minimal, but the main feature is the presence of LED backlighting. This feature will allow you to comfortably operate the projector even in total darkness. No power is included, so you have to buy two AAA batteries separately.
Picture quality, menus, noise, and sound
Since the TouYinger M21 projector belongs to the family of budget Full HD projectors, I did not find any special comments on the quality of the transmitted picture. But let’s talk more about the noise.
The first time I turned it on it said that the TouYinger projector would not be the quietest. For example, the noise emitted near the projector was about 60 dB, and at a distance of 1 meter, about 44 dB. To block out the noise from the projector, you need to set the volume level to 40% or higher.
But the sound quality is not the best indicator in this model. Yes, there may be a sufficient volume level. But I cannot name the quality of one speaker with a power of 5W ideal.
Therefore, if you are planning to make a real cinema at home, then I recommend installing a separate sound system with a taper of 5.1. Thus, the result will pleasantly surprise you and you will get a full-fledged cinema atmosphere.
I placed the projector at a distance of 3 meters from the projection screen and the size of the picture itself turned out to be about 100 inches. Now let’s go through the projector settings. It is completely identical to the last generation TouYinger M19.
For example, the settings menu has four sections – these are image, sound, parameters, and data. In the image section, you can select image modes, color temperature, aspect ratio, noise reduction level, and projection direction. But in the parameters section, you can choose the native language you need. You can also see the keystone correction settings here.
Ok, now let’s talk about the quality of the projection picture. Since the projector model has a native resolution of 1080p, you will not notice any strong problems with detail when compared to projectors with a native resolution of 720p.
In addition, I liked the focus of the picture, it was accurate throughout the entire projection screen and without much blurring around the edges. You can see the picture below for proof.
But the biggest difference between the TouYinger M21 and M19 is the more accurate color settings. That is, the new generation of the projector has good color reproduction with correct colors. Indeed, the colors began to look vibrant and saturated.
As for the brightness level, it was 6800 lumens. If you use the projector in terms of presentations or watching cartoons in the daytime, you will not have severe problems with the visibility of the picture. But it will be problematic to watch dark scenes of films during the day. In this case, the contrast is in the range from 1000: 1 to 2000: 1.
But the main problem with this model is only a 50 Hz refresh rate. This suggests that using a projector for games will not be the most comfortable experience. At least you need to have a picture frequency of 60 Hz, but the M21 does not have this value.
Therefore, if you are considering a projector not only for watching movies or TV shows but also for playing games, then it is worth looking at other options for projectors.
Conclusion, reviews, pros, and cons
TouYinger has presented an updated M21 projector, which practically does not differ in technical characteristics and design when compared to previous generations.
But I can’t call the M21 a bad option when choosing a projector, since it has a number of very useful features. For example, I can attribute to the positive aspects – these are correctly adjusted and correct colors. Compared to previous models from the TouYinger brand, the color reproduction on the new device has become brighter, richer, and has a realistic and correct color display.
Other than that, I liked the focus, detail, and even the brightness level. This projector is well suited for home theater use. You can easily watch movies, TV series, or other programs.
But the main and significant disadvantage of this device is only a 50 Hz screen refresh rate. Therefore, playing on the projector will not be the most comfortable experience. And the delay time was about 75 ms, which will not have a very positive effect during games. Another drawback I can single out is that this is not the best quality speaker.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Therefore, I cannot recommend this projector model from the TouYinger company, since it is better to choose a projector from the Wzatco brand.
But if you don’t need a projector for gaming and a 50Hz refresh rate is enough for you, then you can get the TouYinger M21 for a decent price of $199.68.
