Today I want to tell you about an interesting list of Wi-Fi 6 routers that make sense to be. In this article, I will share my already proven experience of use and tell you about four routers that definitely deserve attention.
In this list, I will tell you both about the budget version of the devices and about the flagship models. In addition, you can find out if it is worth overpaying for a more expensive version?
The latest generation of Wi-Fi 6 routers is famous primarily for their stable and strong signal. Also high baud rate, a large number of connected devices, and more.
Even if your smartphone or other device does not support Wi-Fi 6 technology with ax networks, this does not mean that there is no point in it. I recommend that you buy the latest version of Wi-Fi 6, as your next smartphone will already have support for Wi-Fi 6 technology.

The first device from my list was the well-known model called Xiaomi AIoT Router AX3600. This model is flagship as it has a large number of antennas for a stable and better signal. And also the high cost when comparing other models on my list.
Currently, the price of Xiaomi’s flagship router is around $ 99, which is quite a lot for the average statistical person. Therefore, this model is not very popular in the mobile market, but I cannot miss it, as it has ideal technical features and specs.
For example, Xiaomi AIoT Router AX3600 received an IPQ8071A A53 processor with quad cores and a frequency with 1 GHz. Also, there is 256 MB of RAM and a built-in 512 MB of memory.
At the same time, the maximum allowable speed at 2.4 GHz network was 574 MB per second, and the 5 GHz network was 2402 MB per second.
Six antennas were installed on the router’s body for a stable signal, were two for a 2.4 GHz network, and four for a 5 GHz network. In addition, there is one more additional antenna AloT.
Of the minuses, I can note that these are rather large dimensions of the device. Therefore, if you need a more compact router, then I suggest looking at another model from the same brand.
Xiaomi Router AX1800
Xiaomi Mi Router AX1800 | Specs |
---|---|
CPU | IPQ6000 quad-core 64-bit A53 1.2GHz CPU + single-core 1.5GHz NPU module |
ROM | 128MB |
Memory | 256MB |
Dual band | 2.4GHz, 5GHz |
Operating system | Intelligent router operating system MiWiFi ROM based on OpenWRT deep customization |
Wireless standard | IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, IEEE802.3/3u/3ab |
Price: | $53 |
Compared to the previous model from my list, the new Xiaomi Router AX1800 has a more compact size and weight. Also, the design does not resemble the appearance of routers at all. Since the device has built-in antennas inside the case.
This router model uses a slightly different processor, namely the IPQ6000. It is also a quad-core chipset with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz and an additional core with a 1.5 GHz NPU module.
There are differences in the amount of memory. For example, Xiaomi Router AX1800 received 128 MB of RAM and 256 MB of internal memory.
If the maximum speed of 2.4 GHz network remains the same – it is 574 MB per second, then already in the 5 GHz network, it has decreased to 1201 MB per second.
Other features and characteristics remained unchanged, but the main thing for me and for many users will be the price. You can now buy a new Wi-Fi 6 router for $ 50, which is half the price of the flagship model.
Xiaomi Redmi AX5
Xiaomi Redmi AX5 | Specs |
---|---|
CPU | IPQ6000 quad-core 64-bit A53 1.2GHz CPU + single-core 1.5GHz NPU module |
ROM | 128MB |
Memory | 256MB |
Dual band | 2.4GHz, 5GHz |
Operating system | Intelligent router operating system MiWiFi ROM based on OpenWRT deep customization |
Wireless standard | IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, IEEE802.3/3u/3ab |
Price: | $41 |
Another model took third place on my list – Xiaomi Redmi AX5. This router model also has Wi-Fi 6 support and many useful technologies that provide a stable signal with high data transfer rates.
In terms of performance, the new Redmi AX5 router received a similar IPQ6000 processor as the Router AX1800. Also, RAM and built-in memory are completely identical.
Therefore, in terms of the technical stuffing, the Router AX1800 and Redmi AX5 versions are no different. But the appearance of the device has a completely different design.
The router from Redmi has received a typical look, like most routers on the market. It has four external antennas, two for the 2.4 GHz network, and the other two for the 5 GHz network.
As for the maximum allowable speed, the values are exactly the same as those of the Xiaomi Router AX1800 model.
Therefore, the main differences between the two models are only in appearance and price. Currently, the Xiaomi Redmi AX5 will cost you a little less than AX1800 router – only $41.50.
Huawei AX3 Pro

The last one on my list of Wi-Fi 6 routers is the Huawei AX3 Pro. I can attribute it to the best option, since it has all the necessary modern features, like the flagship router from Xiaomi. But the design of the Huawei router is much more compact, and the data transfer speed will be as fast as that of the AIoT Router AX3600 model.
The Huawei AX3 Pro router is available in white and black, but the latter costs a few dollars more. In terms of price, the AX3 Pro model will set you back $ 60.99, which is much less than Xiaomi’s flagship router.
Also, a slightly different processor is installed in the router, namely a quad-core Gigahome with a clock speed of 1.4 GHz.
Another interesting feature of the new Huawei router is the easy installation thanks to the built-in NFC chip. There are four antennas on the body of the router, where two are for a 2.4 GHz network, and the other two are for a 5 GHz network.
The maximum speed on a 2.4 GHz network will be 574 MB per second, and a 5 GHz network is about 2402 MB per second. That is, these are the same indicators as in the AIoT Router AX3600 model.
In conclusion, I want to say that, in my opinion, each of these models has its own pros and cons. But I liked the model from Huawei, as it received a compact design, technical characteristics of a flagship router, and most importantly an affordable price tag.
Of course, even the cheapest router from Redmi is not bad. It shows a stable baud rate. Even at long distances up to 20 meters, the speed was stable and high.
Thus, you yourself can stop when choosing a modern router with support for Wi-Fi 6 technology, focusing on the price and appearance.
