Thundeal has introduced another interesting compact LED projector called Thundeal TD92.
Many different Chinese projectors from the Thundeal brand have passed through my hands. And so I have an open question, will the new projector model be a good buy in 2021?
Thus, in order to find out all the positive and negative aspects of the device, I suggest that you read this full and in-depth test to the end. After that, you can definitely understand whether this projector model from Thundeal is worth your attention or not.
In terms of cost, the Thundeal TD92 projector currently starts at $110 for the base version. But the version with multi-screen support and a Wi-Fi module will cost you $125. Personally, I have a $125 version, so let me go over the main features of the device.
For example, the TD92 is native 720p with 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz Wi-Fi. Therefore, on this device model, you will be able to use Miracast and iOS cast to display the smartphone screen on the projection screen.
In this case, the maximum brightness value was 3800 lumens, and the contrast level was within 3000: 1. In addition, the maximum projection screen size was 150 inches. Ok, now I propose to start my acquaintance with full testing.

Unboxing and packaging
Since this is not a large projector, the packaging itself was quite compact. But I was pleasantly surprised that the appearance of the packaging has become very attractive. For example, now the packaging does not look budget at all, as it could be found earlier on older versions of projectors from Thundeal.
On the front, there is a color drawing with the projector depicted. Here you can also observe information with the name of the model and company.
Meanwhile, inside the box, I found the projector itself, which was well-packed in protective soft foam. Also included in the package was a standard remote control, instruction manual, power cable, and audio or video output cable. Well, as you can see, the package doesn’t stand out from the crowd at all, so I suggest moving on to taking a closer look at the projector itself.
Design, build quality and materials
The appearance of the new Thundeal TD92 projector turned out to be very interesting. It combines matte white plastic with black decorative elements in the design. In general, the device looks very harmonious and does not stand out much in the interior of the minimalist style.
As for the dimensions, they were only 210 x 168 x 86 mm, and the weight of the device did not exceed 1 kg. This means that a Thundeal projector can be easily transported without any hassle.
On the front of the projector, there is an LED lens, which received a protective cap from the box. Also next to the lens is the name of the company and there is an infrared sensor for the control panel.
Looking at the right-hand side, the device was equipped with several useful connections. For example, this is HDMI, two USB ports, there is also an audio jack and a headphone jack. Each of these connections worked fine and I did not find any problems during my testing.
There are also holes near the ports through which hot air comes out. Therefore, I will note again that these holes should never be covered, as the LED projector can easily overheat and fail.
Meanwhile, only the speaker holes are located on the back of the Thundeal TD92 projector. If we talk about the sound quality, then I liked it. Since the sound had a good bass and a good headroom. I didn’t even imagine that such a speaker would play so well.
But the left side of the device received only a power port. At the same time, the maximum power consumption of the projector was only 47 W.
There are two rings on the top of the device, the first for adjusting the focus and the second for adjusting the angle of the projection screen. Also here you can see some useful buttons. For example, this includes, okay, menus, transitions up, down, right, left and sources.
At the bottom of the Thundeal TD92 projector, there are four rubber feet with a tripod connector. Also here you can adjust the tilt foot.
Now I propose to talk about the remote control. It is powered by two AAA batteries, which I did not find out of the box. So I had to buy them separately at a local store. The number of buttons was limited, but there were all the necessary buttons for the full use of the device. At the same time, the remote control itself worked accurately and the signal was transmitted without unnecessary questions.
Menu, Image Quality and Emitted Noise
During my testing, I set the Thundeal TD92 projector at a distance of 2 meters and 80 centimeters from the screen and got a picture with a size of 90 inches. Yes, it may not be the brightest projector that I have been able to test, but I will talk about the brightness level a little later.
As for the user interface menu, as I said, my projector has built-in Wi-Fi and support for Miracast and iOS cast functions. So, I first checked how exactly these functions worked.
So, after connecting to a Wi-Fi signal, I easily broadcast images from my smartphone screen. But using this function on an ongoing basis will not be the best way, since there is a rather strong delay during its use.
If you plan to display photos or documents for presentation, then this feature will be useful for you. While watching videos, it is best to use other external devices such as TV boxes, game consoles, or play videos from a USB flash drive.
The main menu of the user interface displays cells such as media files, sources, settings and, as I already told you, Miracast and iOS cast. In the meantime, I found the following sections in the settings – these are network settings, system settings and projection settings.
In the system settings, you will be able to set the user interface language, check the update version, restore the system, and more. And in the projection settings, I can flip the picture and reduce the projection screen by up to 25%.
In addition to these settings, you can go to additional settings that can be entered through the remote control. Here I found sections such as picture modes, contrast, brightness, color rendering, tint, sharpness, and others. In addition, there are sound settings, and other system settings.
Now let’s talk about the quality of the transmitted image from the Thundeal TD92 projector. As I mentioned earlier, the device has a native 720p resolution. Of course, this is not Full HD resolution, but I can’t say that even 720p displayed the picture badly. Yes, the details may not be as sharp, but when watching the video, I did not notice a strong difference when compared to 1080p projectors.
If I use a projector for presentations, I want to emphasize that the focus in the central part of the projection image was very clear. But on the left side of the picture, you can observe a slight blur. Although from a distance of 3.5 meters, this blur is not even visible. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the projector only costs $ 100.
On the other hand, the Thundeal TD92 has a pretty good 3800 lumens. I would like to point out that with the lights on, it was possible to read the text of the presentation. But watching the dark scenes of films is still better in complete darkness.
I also liked the contrasting and juicy picture. That is, the color rendition was at a fairly solid level. Each color matched its hue and I liked the way the device displays the picture on the big screen.
If you look at the technical features, then the manufacturer indicates a 50 Hz refresh rate. But when you connect a game console, the screen displays information about the 60 Hz refresh rate. Let’s check if it is the case that the projector is using 60Hz refresh rate or not.
From the test, I can conclude that, after all, some frames of the arrow disappeared, but this gap was difficult to notice. Therefore, there is still a 50 Hz refresh rate of the projection image. If you were planning to play games, then this can be done, but the smoothness of the picture will not be as perfect as at 60 Hz refresh rate.
The last thing I wanted to talk about is the noise generated by the Thundeal TD92 projector. So the noise near the device was about 57 dB, but at a distance of 1 meter it was within 38 dB. This is not as much as it would be for a small and compact projector. Therefore, you will definitely not have much irritation while watching a video.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
After several days of testing the small Thundeal TD92 projector, I was left feeling pretty good.
Since this is an ultra budget projector, I cannot say that it was poorly built or made of substandard materials. In addition, the device showed itself on the positive side, both in terms of the quality of the projection image. That is, I liked the rather bright and saturated picture of the color gamut. Also the contrast level was solid.
If you are considering a projector for home use, or even for educational or work purposes, then this little friend is a good choice.
But the TD92 model cannot be called ideal either, since there are a number of shortcomings here and let’s talk about them. For example, the device did not get the most perfect focus, that is, in my case, the picture in the left corner was a little blurry. Also, the projector has a 50 Hz refresh rate, which is not so good for the gameplay.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Considering its insignificant cost, which starts at $111.07 for the basic version, I can definitely recommend the new Thundeal TD92 projector model for purchase.
Thus, Thundeal has once again proved what it can do and what projectors it can produce, even at a low market price.
