The Smartisan Nut Pro 2S in our review is a new generation of Nut line. Smartisan has opted for a much larger display and otherwise relies on current components as usual.
Another big innovation is that for the first time there is LTE support for a smartphone in volume 20.
Whether these features make the Smartisan Nut Pro 2S a highly recommended high-end smartphone from China, you will learn from this review. So, let’s see the main specs of the phone.

Smartisan Nut Pro 2S: Design and Appearance
In terms of design, Smartisan has not changed quite a bit in the Nut Pro 2S compared to its predecessor.
The Smartisan Nut Pro 2S in the analisis is classified in the phablet category. Without a doubt, the smartphone is rather compact for the size of the display.
Instead, a simple metal frame with a matte finish is now used. When we have Smartisan Nut Pro 2S in white, the frame has been given a subtle golden color.
The back of Nut Pro 2S covers still with glass. The surface is pretty smooth, so you should be careful. Especially with dry skin, the smartphone slips easily in the hand. Grab is worth it!
Responsible for this is the dual camera module, which looks like the Nut Pro 2 and stands out clearly.
The module then acts as an anchor and prevents slipping. The fingerprint sensor is also on the back with the big letter “T”.
Overall, the Smartisan Nut Pro 2S has become a rather simple smartphone, but that does not mean that it does not look good.
All parts fit perfectly together again, which is not so obvious especially when moving from a metal frame to a direct square glass.
The keys are also bombproof in place. A bending test is the Nut Pro 2S with flying colors.
As far as the topic of use is concerned, we can warmly recommend the Smartisan Nut Pro 2S in white.
The glass of the back is quite stable and does not scratch so fast, but naturally, inevitably some scratches on the white surface are almost inevitable.
In addition, the device never looks dirty, since fingerprints are much less noticeable than with a black glass surface.
Smartisan Nut Pro 2S: Display
Smartisan Nut Pro 2S in the test has 6.01-inches AMOLED display with FHD Plus resolution 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18: 9 aspect ration.
Smartisan has made a very good choice here and has managed to combine the advantages of an AMOLED display with those of a very good LCD display.
In plain language, this means that typical AMOLED diseases such as “candy optics” or rainbow effects at steep angles are missing.
Even pixels are not as recognizable here as on many other smartphones with AMOLED display. The panel simply provides a really good and realistic presentation.
If you do not like the color reproduction, you can readjust it manually in the settings. The readability outdoors also convinces. Even in direct sunlight, the contents are still clearly visible.
Also very impressive is the better ratio between the display and the case at first sight. Compared to the Nut Pro 2, the lower edge has been significantly reduced again.
This supposed advantage is ruined by a really annoying Notch. Usually, a notch does not bother us.
No criticisms we have found on the touchscreen. Nut Pro 2S equips in our analisis with a 10-point digitizer that responds to all inputs with almost no delay.
The touch resolution is very high, which ensures good precision and smooth scrolling. Fast typing is not a problem.
Smartisan Nut Pro 2S: Hardware and Performance
The Smartisan Nut Pro 2S is equipped with a Snapdragon 710. This is one of the currently most powerful mid-range phone processors.
The Smartisan Nut Pro 2S in our test reaches a value of around 167,000 points in the Antutu benchmark.
The smartphone is running smoothly and the performance is not even exhaustively exploited by current apps and games.
There are also 4GB of RAM, which ensures smooth multitasking. You get 6GB of RAM on the Thin Red Line Edition. The internal memory is based on UFS 2.1 and offers 64GB, 128GB capacity.
For communication with the PC or for charging, a USB Type-C port with USB 3.0 support is used. Unfortunately, there is no video output.
Smartisan Nut Pro 2S: Software
The Nut Pro 2S in our review has a customized Smartisan OS running Android 8.0.
Since it’s not pure Android, I can not say about the update and how often they will come.
But the system itself is very interesting and bright, everything works smoothly and without delays.
Many useful features that are missing on pure Android, but you need to get used to them.
Smartisan Nut Pro 2S: Connectivity
When the Smartisan Nut Pro 2S was introduced, many were sure to shout enthusiastically. The smartphone offers Band 20 LTE and beyond that support for almost all other global frequencies.
With the LTE modem in the Snapdragon 710, theoretically, bandwidths of up to one Gigabit in the downstream are possible.
Another highlight is the support of Dual-Band GPS and GLONASS. Two frequency bands are used simultaneously to increase the signal strength.
This simultaneously increases the reliability as well as the accuracy. And yes, that really makes itself felt.
Smartisan Nut Pro 2S: Cameras
The main camera in the Smartisan Nut Pro 2S has 12-megapixels sensor from Sony IMX363 sensor with f/1.8 aperture while the 5-megapixels secondary sensor from a Samsung S5K4E8 sensor.
Also, the dual optical zoom and the optical image stabilization were taken over. Accordingly, it is not surprising that the camera performance does not differ.
The Nut Pro 2S makes great photos by day, with the AI on request for more intense and vivid colors. If you prefer it, of course, should disable the AI.
The shots have a good sharpness and a high degree of detail. The optical zoom works very well.
The image stabilization ensures sharp photos here as well. Triggered almost without delay and the focus works extremely fast.
The camera in the Smartisan Nut Pro 2S is very bright, so at night – provided artificial light sources – can take very nice photos.
In the city center, color-effective, sharp shots succeed at night. The noise is relatively low. In manual mode, you can also take pictures with long exposure.
The bokeh effect itself is usually completely wrong and leads to blurring in places that should be sharp. The effect also looks anything but natural.
In terms of quality, the photo of the Pro 2S of the nut is taken from the DxO 95 points. The white balance is accurate in the case of excellent daytime light, and the resolution and color performance is relatively good.
However, occasionally white balance drift occurs in indoor scenes, supporting portrait mode but the algorithm can be more natural.
Although the Nut Pro 2S is not a big improvement in hardware, it is not an echelon compared to the mainstream flagship phone.
Videos can be recorded with the main camera in up to 4k, with a maximum of 30fps possible.
The video quality itself is very good on the Nut Pro 2S with the exception of a slight reddish tint. The autofocus works very fast and without annoying jumps.
Smartisan Nut Pro 2S: Battery
The Smartisan Nut Pro 2S is equipped with a 3600mAh battery, whose capacity we can confirm based on an external measurement.
The runtime is a corner better than the Nut Pro 2, which is probably due to the AMOLED display.
Overall, the difference in everyday life but not very big. If you use the smartphone properly, is easily a day term in it – but not more.
Two days the battery is only enough for economical use. The screen-on time in continuous operation is 8 hours and 50 minutes.
The battery can be charged using Quick Charge 3.0. Wireless charging is not supported on the Smartisan Nut Pro 2S.
Smartisan Nut Pro 2S: Conclusions and Reviews
The Smartisan Nut Pro 2S in our review is basically a bigger Nut Pro 2 but not too much. As advantages of the Nut Pro 2S, we clearly see the AMOLED display.
Also, when compared with the previous version of the smartphone Nut Pro 2, the new one received an updated Snapdragon 710 processor and this is a big advantage.
With regard to design, then you saw a large list of color options, but the design itself remained almost unchanged and in general, is good.
For its price range, the camera showed a good result in the tests DxO in 95 points.
Autonomous operation of the Nut Pro 2S is good for about 2 days of work since here is installed an advanced and last processor from Snapdragon and AMOLED screen with low power consumption.
