We continue our collaboration with the manufacturer Sharkoon and today we bring you the review of some interesting headphones, the Sharkoon B1 that promise to offer us a great quality of sound with a light design that will make them very comfortable to carry for hours. It is a stereo headset that has two 40 mm loudspeakers and a microphone so we can use them in our games sessions and for the multimedia environment without problems. If you want to know more do not miss our review.
First of all, we thank Sharkoon for his confidence in giving us the B1 for his review.
The Sharkoon B1 comes with an elegant cardboard box of very good quality. The box is constructed in black and uses its front to show the logo of the mark along with a great image of the helmets. On the other hand in the back are detailed its main features in multiple languages including that of Cervantes.
We open the box and we find a large black case that hides the headphones and all the accessories, for its opening we only have to make use of the zipper. As we can see the case has two departments, in which come the helmets and all the accessories that the manufacturer has included. The bundle consists of:
- Sharkoon B1.
- Modular cable with the control knob.
- Detachable microphone.
It is time to focus on the Sharkoon B1 helmets themselves, they are circumaural headphones that bet on a simple bridge design in their headband, which achieves a sufficient closing pressure to achieve a good isolation without being excessive And upset about the ears.
The headband is padded enough to be comfortable wearing helmets for long sessions, whether game or multimedia. As we can see the product is totally black and has opted for a fairly conservative design without the aggressive lines that we are accustomed to seeing in all products more intended for gamers. In its manufacture plastic is used as the main material, this allows its weight to be maintained in a moderate 320 grams.
As usual in all headsets, the Sharkoon B1 features a height adjustment mechanism so that each user can adapt them to their heads in a very simple way. We get to the headset area and we find a design based on microperforated metal, this gives a rather attractive touch and is responsible for breaking with a design that would be overly conservative. Sharkoon has not wanted to opt for a revolutionary design with these B1 and the reason is very simple, innovation is not cheap and the manufacturer has preferred to offer a more economical product and invest every euro of its manufacturing price in what really matters: quality Sound and comfort. The sound quality is determined by its neodymium drivers with a size of 40 mm, the rest of its features include a 32 Ω Impedance, a Frequency Response of 20 Hz – 20,000 Hz, a Sensitivity of 103 dB ± 3 dB and A maximum power of 100 mW.
Thinking of the comfort of the users Sharkoon has put in the B1 an abundant and very soft padding, this one blends perfectly with the design so that the closing pressure on our ears is not too much or too light to avoid the isolation.
Every good headset recommended for video games needs a microphone and the Sharkoon B1 are not the exception, it has been bet by a micro with a detachable design so that we can save it when we are not using it and do not disturb us. Its installation is as easy as putting it in the 3.5 mm jack port that is next to the connection cable and is ready to be used. It is a unidirectional microphone with an impedance of 2.2 kΩ, a frequency response of 50 Hz – 10,000 Hz and a sensitivity of -40 dB ± 2 dB.
Finally we see the modular cable that we have to connect to the connector jack of the cable integrated in Sharkoon B1, this modular cable logically serves to lengthen the main and also integrates the control and the two 3.5 mm jack jacks we will need to be able to use Both the headset and its microphone in our PC. All 3.5 mm jack connectors are gold-plated to improve contact and prevent corrosion. The control knob allows us to adjust the volume level of the speakers as well as to turn the microphone on and off.
Final words and conclusion about Sharkoon B1
After using the Sharkoon B1 for several days we can make a final evaluation of the product. The manufacturer has opted for a stereo sound system and based on 3.5 mm jack jacks, this offers a much superior compatibility to headsets with a USB interface and 7.1 virtual sound, for example, we can use on smartphones, tablets, Consoles and any device with a 3.5 mm jack port for sound output. Video games are already prepared to offer a good positioning with a stereo headset so the absence of a virtual 7.1 system is not something that we should worry about when acquiring them, often a stereo system works much better than the virtual envelopes.
Sharkoon B1 mounts a neodymium drivers of 40 mm, a size that may seem small compared to what we are used to seeing but its quality is very good and the sound is at a high level, also the pads offer good insulation, Great comfort and its circumaural design power the basses that are usually the main weakness with some not very big drivers. The sound is very high so we will not be short in any case. Finally, we have the micro that as usual, is the weakest point of these helmets, will serve to communicate smoothly with our friends when we are playing and for videoconferences.
It is not easy to make a product so balanced that it stands out in the average of so much competition in PC helmets. The Sharkoon B1 is on sale for an approximate price of 70 euros.
