During the last edition of the Mobile World Congress, we approached the DOOGEE stand to see the innovations that had been brought by the manufacturer. And without a doubt, one of the ones that surprised me the most was the DOOGEE Y6 Max 3D, of which I made some first impressions.
A terminal with a 3D display that arrives to differentiate itself from its competitors. Now, two weeks of use, I bring you a complete analysis in DOOGEE Y6 Max 3D, the Android phone with the 3D screen and you can buy on Amazon for less than 200 euros.
If you have seen the model Y6 previously you will quickly notice that the DOOGEE Y6 Max 3D has a very similar design, although noticeably larger. Something to expect if we consider that we are before a phablet with a screen of 6.5 inches. Almost nothing.
With measures of 171.3 x 89 x 8.95 mm we have before us a bulky phone and we can not use with one hand easily unless we activate a function that reduces the size of the screen to be able to reach any point of it.
To this must be added the 250 grams of weight of the terminal. Eye, we are talking about a whole phablet so you would expect this kind of dimensions. Say that the body of the terminal is made of aluminum and offers a really nice touch in the hand, plus a great feeling of robustness.
DOOGEE Y6 Max 3D: Speaker
On the front, we find the phone screen along with the three physical buttons on the terminal. Could you have saved DOOGEE space using capacitive buttons? Yes, but so the whole screen is available to enjoy multimedia content.
Moving to the sides, the left is clean and we will only see the slot to insert a micro SIM card and a slot for the micro SD card. Already on the right side is where the Asian manufacturer incorporates the volume control keys and on and on the terminal. In this case, say that they are built in aluminum and offer an adequate travel and good resistance to pressure.
At the top is where we will see the 3.5mm output to connect a headset, while on the bottom side is where the micro USB port is located to charge the DOOGEE Y6 Max 3D in addition to the speaker output. The DOOGEE logo will be displayed at the back, just below the fingerprint sensor and the phone’s main camera. In short a device with good finishes although very bulky, something to expect in a phablet with a screen of 6.5 inches.
DOOGEE Y6 Max 3D: Specifications
In terms of technical characteristics, we find a mid-range phone. In this way, the terminal has a screen consisting of a 6.5-inch IPS panel that reaches Full HD resolution and allows you to play 3D content without the use of glasses, as we will see later.
Under the hood, we find one of the most well-known solutions of MediaTek for this type of devices. I am talking about the eight-core MT6750T processor and 64-bit architecture, which, along with the 3 GB of RAM and its Mali T860 GPU, will allow you to move any game or application without problems, for the much graphical load that requires.
Mind you, the loading times will not be the same as with a high range, that is obvious, but I have been able to play very good video games without any problem.
The subject of internal memory is the device’s greatest weakness. To enjoy the 3D content you have to use very heavy files so I recommend you do what I did, use a high-speed micro SD card to store all 3D videos in it and leave the internal memory for games and applications.
The battery of the phone has 4,300 mAh and has given me an autonomy of up to two days of moderate use. Obviously when playing many videos consumption increased, reaching the end of the day hurried, but taking into account that the terminal has a fast charging system and one of its strongest is its screen, I have nothing to object in this regard.
Its fingerprint sensor works quite well, unlocking the screen almost instantly. On occasion, I had to put my finger several times, although over time the biometric sensor is getting accustomed to our footprint, so I can not criticize anything in this regard. More taking into account the price of DOOGEE Y6 Max 3D.
To end this section of the review DOOGEE Y6 MAX 3D say that the device works with Android 6.0 M under a custom layer of the manufacturer based on desks. This is quite common in Asian devices and you will not be slow to get used to it. The good thing is that it does not come with too much bloatware and even has several applications to play 3D content.
DOOGEE Y6 MAX 3D: Display
Obviously, this is the highlight of this terminal. The DOOGEE Y6 MAX 3D has a 6.5-inch screen with Full HD resolution and allows you to play 3D content without the need for special glasses. At the time I had an Optimus 3D and the problem is that after a few minutes you were dizzy looking at the content of this type. On the other hand, with the DOOGEE Y6 MAX 3D I have been able to see a complete film without any breaks and I have to say that the result has been more than satisfactory, with a 3D effect really well achieved.
In addition, their angles of vision allow enjoying this type of contents in the company, something vital in a phablet. Moreover, its IPS panel offers vivid and sharp colors, without saturating the color gamut at any time, and a level of brightness that will allow us to see the screen without problems on the sunniest days. In this respect, the surprise has been really positive.
DOOGEE Y6 MAX 3D: Camera
Finally, we arrive at the section of the cameras. In this case, we have a 5-megapixel front camera that will allow you to do selfies or video calls with a decent level, but without great bragging.
The main camera, consisting of a 13 megapixel lens with f / 1.9 and LED flash offers a pretty good performance. Whenever we are in environments with good light conditions we will get very decent photographs, although, as is usual in the vast majority of terminals, when we are in places with low light, and especially at night, the dreaded noise will appear.
DOOGEE Y6 Max 3D: Conclusion
The Chinese manufacturer Doogee comes back to surprise with the launch of a new smartphone that is made unique by its special characteristics.
