Redmi Note 8 PRO: Unboxing
As I wrote, I got a Chinese version. This is a typical Redmi box with a bright red color.
Inside the box was the phone itself, Type-C wire for fast charging and an 18W power supply.
In addition, I found instructions, a SIM card needle, and a transparent case. For the first time, a budget cover is suitable not to spoil the smartphone, but I would advise you to buy a better case.
In general, taking into account its price, equipment for Redmi Note 8 PRO is the standard kit for this model.
Redmi Note 8 PRO: Design
Like the previous generation of Redmi Note 7 PRO, the new Redmi Note 8 PRO smartphone received a sandwich made of glass. Corning Gorilla Glass 5, both on the front and back.
Glass to stay at the expense of a plastic frame and look all this is very stylish and fresh and very looks like metal. The device has rounded edges, so holding the Note 8 PRO in your hands is pretty comfortable.
On the rear panel is a vertical unit with four cameras with a fingerprint scanner. It looks absolutely cool, but in practice, a fingerprint scanner is located next to the cameras, which will cover the camera lens itself. There is also a flash and another camera sensor nearby.
I want to note that the camera sticks out strongly, so the smartphone should be used with a protective cover from the first days of operation.
On the front panel is a large screen with minimal frames. There is also a waterdrop notch for the front camera. A little higher is the speaker.
On control, everything is standard – on the right side – a volume rocker and a power button.
On the other hand – a hybrid slot for two SIM cards or for one SIM card and micro SD memory card up to 256 GB.
At the bottom is a 3.5 mm audio jack, Type-C charging port, microphone, and main speaker.
In terms of size, Redmi Note 8 PRO is 161.3 x 76.4 x 8.8 mm and weighs 199 grams.
As for its price of $230, I want to note that Redmi Note 8 PRO looks like a flagship. Of course, the appearance of the device is worth its attention. It is also worth mentioning about the build quality and materials, in Note 8 PRO it is made at a decent level and the glass protection looks premium, as for its class.
Redmi Note 8 PRO: Screen
As I mentioned, Redmi Note 8 PRO got a pretty large IPS screen with dimensions of 6.53 inches with a resolution of Full HD or 1080 x 2340 pixels.
The aspect ratio is 19.5: 9 in the hand lies well, but using one hand will be problematic.
As for colors and brightness, I can say that this is a typical, but high-quality Xiaomi IPS screen. It is well readable in the open air and has decent viewing angles.
The pixel density is 395 PPI and the screen area on the front panel will be about 84.9%.
On the upper part, there is a waterdrop notch for the front camera and this is already a familiar solution for most models.
Redmi Note 8 PRO: Performance
Many users are already used to the fact that the Redmi lineup uses Snapdragon processors, but the Redmi Note 8 PRO received the Mediatek Helio G90T chipset which has a 12-nanometer processor that runs at a maximum frequency of 2.05 GHz.
During the testing of the smartphone, I did not find much heat in the case even in games, for example, playing in PUBG Mobile for about 45 minutes, the case of the smartphone was a little warm, but not hot.
As for its price of $230, Redmi Note 8 PRO shows an amazing result in benchmarks, let’s say in AnTuTu the device scored about 280,000 points.
As for gaming performance, the same PUBG Mobile at ultra-high settings worked without any delays. Asphalt 9 also flew even faster, but Shadowgun Legends at first had slight delays, but after 5 minutes of the game, they disappeared.
Redmi Note 8 PRO: Software
Redmi Note 8 PRO runs on Android 9.0 with the MIUI 10 user interface. I’ve already repeatedly tested the Chinese version of smartphones in the Redmi line and as usual, there are disadvantages compared to the global version.
The first is languages - only English and Chinese are available, so the choice is not great. Also, an NFC model is available in the device, but since this is the Chinese version, connecting the card outside of China does not work.
Otherwise, it is a stable operating system and during testing of the Redmi Note 8 PRO smartphone, I did not find strong delays or failures.
But I would recommend waiting for the global version so that all functions and options in your country are 100% available.
Redmi Note 8 PRO: Camera
Four sensors and a 64-megapixel main sensor with f/1.8 aperture were installed on the rear panel. The second 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture for ultra-wide shots. The third and fourth 2-megapixel sensors with f/2.4 aperture for macro shooting and bokeh effect.
The front panel has a 20-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
In terms of photo quality, everything is fine, for example, in the daytime, Redmi Note 8 PRO photos are comparable to the Galaxy S10. Below you can compare the result of the images.
As for night photos, Note 8 PRO has much better quality than the Galaxy S10. The photos are sharper and there is no blur effect.
The device is capable of shooting in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, but the video quality was a little disappointing. Autofocus jumps and there is no stabilization at all, but I think this is due to unfinished firmware. In the global version, the video will be shot much better.
Redmi Note 8 PRO: Battery
Inside the case of the Redmi Note 8 PRO has installed a 4,500 mAh battery capacity. The battery life is good even with such a large screen.
During the test, at maximum brightness of video playback through Youtube, the device worked for 7 hours and 20 minutes. Agree that the indicator is not small, so even with active use, the Redmi Note 8 PRO’s operating time will be about 1.5-2 days.
The full charge via Type-C port and 18W adapter was 2 hours.
Redmi Note 8 PRO: Conclusions and Reviews
The new Redmi Note 8 PRO smartphone has received amazing technical specifications, attractive appearance and at the same time good performance.
Given that this smartphone belongs to the middle-class device, it is difficult to find a similar combination of specs and price.
The main features include – stylish appearance, high performance both in games and in synthetic tests.
Also, the presence of a 64-megapixel camera that takes amazing photos even at night and the large battery capacity of 4,500 mAh makes the Note 8 PRO unique in its segment.
Redmi Note 8 PRO: Price and Where to buy cheaper?
Now you can order and buy a Redmi Note 8 PRO smartphone at a good and attractive price for only $229.99 with a 20% discount.
Naturally, I recommend a smartphone for purchase, but you should pay attention to the global version of the device.
