Today I have another interesting model of wireless earbuds called Redmi AirDots 3 Pro.
I have already been able to test the previous generation of models in the AirDots line. But this time, Redmi decided to go beyond its budgetary limits and released completely different earbuds for its budget.
That is, currently the price tag for the improved generation of Redmi AirDots 3 Pro will cost you up to $60. This is almost three times more when comparing third or second generation models. Therefore, let’s find out why the manufacturer Redmi is asking for such a high price.
The first thing that makes the earbuds stand out is their ergonomic and stylish design with a reflective surface. In addition, the device received a Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connection, two charging methods are through the Type-C wire and wireless charging.
Of course, the main feature in the AirDots 3 Pro earbuds is the presence of active noise cancellation, transparency mode and game mode with a minimum level of latency. I can also highlight that the earbuds have a 9 mm orthodynamic driver.
Thus, the new improved generation of TWS earbuds turned out almost like flagship earbuds in terms of their functionality. Therefore, let me already begin my detailed and in-depth test of the new headphone model from the Redmi brand with unboxing and other features.

Unboxing and packaging
The new generation of TWS earbuds comes in a rather unusual package in terms of its form factor. On the front, you can find a drawing of a charging box with earbuds. At the same time, the drawing itself stood out well compared to the white packaging. And in general, I would even call the packaging premium, not mid-budget.
It is also worth mentioning that the quality of the box was good, as a fairly dense and high-quality cardboard was used here. But the packaging itself was made with Chinese characters, since it was created for the Chinese market. Nobody knows when the global version of the earbuds will come out and will come out in general.
Inside the package itself, I found – this is, directly, the charging box itself with earbuds inside. There was also an instruction manual, which was written in Chinese accordingly. In addition, an additional set of silicone ear tips and a Type-C charging cable are included in a separate package.
Design, workmanship and materials
Comparing the appearance of the updated generation Redmi AirDots 3 Pro wireless earbuds with the previous generation Redmi AirDots 3, you are very surprised at how different they are. That is, the new earbuds received the same form factor as their predecessors. These are in-ear vacuum earbuds, but the ergonomics and shape are completely different.
It is also worth highlighting that the headphone case was made in two colors – gray and black. I have on review, the earbuds are in gray, but I think that the black version will not be inferior to gray.
If we talk about the build quality, then the AirDots 3 Pro earbuds did not cause any special complaints during my testing. That is, the assembly was at the highest level and I did not identify any extraneous sounds or noises. I have not found any precise information on the degree of protection against water, but I assume that there is little protection against sweat.
In addition, I liked the materials used. The earbuds themselves were made of matte soft-touch plastic, which was very pleasant to wear or hold in your hands. It is also worth noting that the front part uses plastic made of glossy reflective material, where the touch panel was located. This feature really looks like a real gem and will definitely attract the attention of the people around it.
The main microphone was located in a good place at the bottom of it. There are also two additional microphones used in the earbuds and they were created for the active noise canceling function and the transparency mode. On the inside of the case, there are two charging contacts and one additional hole for the air outlet from the earbuds.
As for the convenience of landing, I had no particular complaints. But do not forget that Redmi AirDots 3 Pro were made like vacuum in-ear earbuds, so you obviously won’t be able to achieve comfortable and long-term wearing. This means that when wearing, you should carefully size the silicone ear tips so that your ears do not feel tired prematurely.
The charging box was also made of gray matte plastic, like the earbuds themselves. This is a soft-touch plastic that fits well in my hand and did not cause me much disgust. On the front, you can find an LED indicator and a button for pairing or factory reset. And at the bottom of the case is the Type-C connection.
But the build quality is not the best, as the lid has a slight backlash and the hinge was made of plastic. Overall, I liked the new look of the charging box and earbuds. Compared to its predecessors, the updated version of the AirDots 3 Pro received a much more premium design.
Connection, latency and touch control
Bluetooth with version 5.2 is responsible for the wireless connection, and there is also support for AAC audio codecs on board the earbuds. During my testing, I did not have any particular problems with the signal transmission quality and any interference.
Another interesting feature is the function of connecting earbuds to two devices at the same time. That is, you can easily connect earbuds to two smartphones at the same time. This is to ensure that you do not miss important notifications. For example, listening to music on one device and receiving a message on another.
In addition, the device received a proprietary application that can be installed via the QR code from the instructions. But the disadvantage of this application is its completely Chinese user interface.
I want to tell you a little about the main functions that are available in the mobile application. For example, you can control the active noise canceling modes. There are four modes here – low, medium, high and automatic.
There are also other features here, but I still have not figured out their purpose, since I do not know the Chinese language. Therefore, using the mobile application in the Redmi AirDots 3 Pro earbuds is not yet the best method. And for this you need to wait for the release of the firmware update or the global version of the earbuds.
If we talk about the game mode, then the delay when watching video clips was practically not noticeable. But in games there was a slight delay, but it did not prevent me from playing games.
In addition, I liked the touch controls as there are many useful features. In addition, the touch control itself was precise and did not have accidental clicks. For example, here I was able to adjust functions such as volume, play, pause, switching tracks, modes, and others.
Sound quality and microphone, modes of operation
Each earbud had a 9mm orthodynamic driver installed, which worked pretty well when paired with the body of the new headphone model.
The manufacturer Redmi has put a lot of emphasis on low frequencies. Therefore, there was a lot of bass in this headphone model. Yes, for fans of strong bass this feature will be important. But in my case, I could not listen to music for more than 1 hour, as the rather strong bass beat on my eardrums.
At the same time, the middle and high frequencies played with a big stretch. Redmi paid good attention to low frequencies, but medium and high frequencies did not play the way I would like. That is, at a high volume value, I could easily hear wheezing or other annoying squeaks and sounds.
Okay, now let’s tell you my impressions of the quality of the ANC function. During my testing, I was comfortable using ANC functions in loud places in the city or on public transport. In addition, the manufacturer assures that active noise cancellation is within 35 dB. As you may know, this is not the most powerful indicator. Therefore, the flagship headphones work much better with the ANC function.
The transparency mode also did not cause me much discomfort. While using the Redmi AirDots 3 Pro earbuds with transparency mode enabled, I could easily hear ambient sounds and voices.
Okay, now let’s find out how the microphones work properly during real use. For example, in a quiet and even noisy place, my interlocutors heard me clearly and without severe problems. Therefore, the noise canceling microphone in the updated version of the AirDots 3 Pro earbuds worked quite well.
Battery and run time
The manufacturer Redmi assures that the AirDots 3 Pro earbud model is capable of working up to 7 hours at 50% volume level and with the ANC function turned off. At the same time, the battery capacity in each earphone was 35 mAh.
During my testing, I was able to achieve a result of about 4.5 hours at 70-80% volume and with ANC enabled. I think this is a good result for the mid-budget segment of the device.
At the same time, the time for a full charge of the earbuds did not exceed 50 minutes, and the charging box itself was charged in 1.5 hours via a Type-C connection.
Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons
Redmi AirDots 3 Pro are unique wireless earbuds that have received the Pro ending in the updated generation for a reason. Therefore, if you are interested in good earbuds with good bass, then the option from Redmi will be a good choice.
On the positive side, I can point out that the AirDots 3 Pro model has a fascinating design and high-quality materials. In addition, I had no strong complaints about the quality of the performance.
I also liked the multifunctional touch controls, the presence of the ANC function, the transparency mode, and even there is an automatic pause sensor.
On the negative side, I can attribute it to a rather weak sounding of mid and high frequencies. I would also like to receive a mobile application in my native language, not just Chinese.
Price and where to buy cheaper?
Given its low cost, I definitely liked the earbuds from the Redmi brand and I can easily recommend them to you.
